Stock, Somerset: Mobile DPF Cleaning
Sorting the DPF happens at the motor, not at a body shop. A fitter arrives at your door in Stock, clears the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the car, runs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you came with.
Nobody leaves until the figure is settled by the phone. The visit lasts typically around 2 hours and the clean starts from £299.
Written for the position most owners are in: the light already on, the vehicle short for power, and the visit still to fix.
Your DPF light is on — what next?
Not the filter, always. Main thing to get straight. That light can arise from several faults, not merely one, so the visit opens with a scan and not with a clean.
The use you get in the meantime tells. That is the other thing.
- Worth a try before you ring anything: amber light, vehicle driving as normal, just one even run, no charge.
- Once the vehicle is in limp mode, driving will not reach it. The window has shut.
- Stop arranging long drives and get it checked if the interior stinks of diesel or there is black smoke when you accelerate.
What the vehicle has been warning you
Belated news, the light. The symptoms generally mount for some time before it shows:
- climbing uphill, the power drops away
- an engine whose revs will not pull as they should
- fuel use that is worse than before
- a stop/start that has quietly bowed out
- the cabin stinking of diesel, or smoke when you pull away
None of that is proof on its own. It is a fair guess the filter is loaded once the light is there too.
Clogged diesel particulate filters near Stock, and the why
Stock is a village, and the day-to-day driving that comes with one is the poorest kind for a DPF. Think about a typical week: Churchill Church of England Primary School and home again, Duck Lane at a halt before nine, a five-minute run to Buglers, a hop to Yatton. Not much there lasts long enough or runs hot enough to finish a regeneration. Unburnt soot that should burn off collects instead.
The M5 stands under 5 miles from Stock, Bristol under 15 miles off, and unless something carries you out that way often, whole weeks pass without the sustained run that scours a DPF. Geography does not assist.
Why limp mode prevents a DPF regeneration
What limp mode means is the vehicle looking after itself. The real catch is that a sustained drive works by starting a regeneration, and once in limp mode the revs will not climb and power is limited.
The usual advice — take it up the motorway — is sensible, until it is not. Past that point — limp mode — road work will not do it, and the filter requires a clean.
The vehicle stays where it is for mobile DPF cleaning across Stock
On your driveway, in a work car park, anywhere the car can stand for a few hours: the job is done with the filter still bolted on, which is the bit most people do not anticipate.
First a check. Real-time ECU data, the soot load as a percent and as a figure, the sensor feeds, the glow plugs, the related components — all of it read before a thing is cleaned.
Soot and ash that a regeneration on its own will never move are loosened after that, by a cleaning fluid passed through the entry point on that motor, which spreads inside the filter. Severely blocked filters sometimes take a second pass.
Next, a regeneration clears everything the clean loosened. Either it goes as a monitored drive out of Stock, with you present, or it runs where the vehicle stands and the live data is read after.
Then a second diagnostic, proving the change, resetting the warning light and listing anything still logged. Both sets of figures are emailed over, so the before and after figures are on record.
What a DPF clean will not fix
One thing is what treatment fixes — a filter choked with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- the wrong signal from a temperature or pressure sensor
- a stuck-open EGR valve
- a failure in the AdBlue system
- failed glow plugs or injectors, so never a regeneration ever starts
- a turbo passing oil through the filter
Which is why the diagnostic comes first. Proving to be one of them means finding out it before work begins, not after settling up a penny.
Two more worth knowing. Getting the filter hollowed out is not a solution — a vehicle without a working DPF will fail its MOT and driving it is illegal. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your existing filter is cleaned in place and returned into use.
Prices for DPF cleaning around Stock
Any visit attracts a call-out charge — travelling to you, setting up the booking, carrying out the scan and giving the advice. The clean itself starts from £299.
Publishing a flat rate would not be straight. We fix it by phone, once the motor and its probable needs are established. The vehicle shifts it, and so does the postcode — Stock, Iwood, or a spot otherwise out in the BS postcode area.
Treatment that will not work is not cleaning you pay for, and the diagnostic is what says so. Because the visit, the check and the advice have taken place, the call-out charge even so applies.
If the light returns inside that time, an engineer heads back out to Stock — the work comes with a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare.
Darren came on Friday 19th September to clean DPF on my vivaro done 400 miles now and running fine.
Daz was a polite friendly engineer explained the process clearly. carried out the work confidently, so happy with the job so far.
Arrived quickly after my call and cleared the filter quickly. I was showed the results and advised what to do next. Overall very pleased just hope the problem doesn't return any time soon.
What we clean, and how far we reach near Stock
Whatever it is — car, light van, light commercial, heavy goods vehicle, plant, construction machinery, agricultural machine — the one on-site service applies, and the filter never leaves it.
The same trip that keeps engineers on Duck Lane most weeks takes in Stock, Iwood, Lower Langford and the spots beyond Wrington. Further out around Somerset is even so worth ringing about — coverage runs UK-wide, and it is the schedule rather than the distance that decides between one day and the next.

Common questions on DPF cleaning around Stock
- Can I merely take it for a long drive?
- Early enough, and with the car out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. Five minutes to Buglers and back will not manage it; motorway speed, sustained for a while, will.
- Does the visit take long?
- Bank on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean adding to that where the filter is badly loaded.
- How much does it come to in Stock?
- The call-out charge pays for the visit, the scan and the advice; treatment itself starts from £299. Both the vehicle and where you are shift it, which is why settling it goes by phone.
- Must I be there in person?
- You need not stand with it — the motor simply requires somewhere to wait for a couple of hours. The regeneration can be carried out as a watched drive if you would rather ride along.
- Coming to Stock — how soon?
- That depends on the schedule, but it is often same-day or next-day. Ask 0303 330 1830 what is open across the BS area.
- Is the filter removed from the motor?
- Not on the call-out service — it is treated where it sits. We do not take filters off or bolt them back on, either way.
- The light comes back — then what?
- Aftercare falls inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer heading back to Stock.
