Mobile DPF Cleaner

Mobile DPF Cleaning serving Staple, Kent

Treating the DPF happens at the vehicle, not at a workshop. No workshop, no filter going anywhere. A technician drives out to your address over in Staple, clears the diesel particulate filter in place, runs a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you came with.

The visit runs typically around 2 hours, the clean starts from £299, and the figure is agreed on the phone before anyone travels.

Most drivers find us with the light already on, and the motor down on power. That is exactly what this page is written for.

What to do when the DPF light shows

First thing: it is not necessarily the filter. Several faults put the identical light on the identical panel, which is why a visit starts with a diagnostic rather than with cleaning.

Second thing: how you run it between now and then matters.

  • Amber light, car yet driving fine — a long even run can yet shift it by itself. Costs zero, and worth attempting before you ring anything.
  • That window has gone once the car has dropped into limp mode. A drive will not do it now.
  • Diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under the throttle — stop arranging long drives and get it looked at.

Signs the vehicle has been showing you

Late news, the light. The symptoms tend to mount for a while before it appears:

  • power tailing off, particularly climbing uphill
  • you see the revs stop short of where they used to go
  • worse fuel use
  • a stop/start that has silently bowed out
  • a diesel smell in the interior, or smoke under the throttle

None of that is evidence by itself. Next to the light, it is a fair bet the filter is blocked.

The explanation diesel particulate filters block around Staple

Being a rural village, Staple produces just the driving a DPF manages least well. A regeneration needs the time and heat, and gets none: not on the school run to Ash Cartwright and Kelsey Church of England Primary School, not on School Lane at half eight, not on ten minutes to Co-op Food, and not on the dash to Adisham. Instead of burning away, the soot banks up.

Neither is a long way from Staple: under 15 miles to the M20, under 10 miles to Canterbury. Neither is on the way to much most weeks, though, so the run that would empty a filter hardly ever happens.

Why limp mode blocks a DPF regeneration

Limp mode is the motor defending itself. A sustained drive works by starting a regeneration, and that is just what limp mode prevents: power limited, revs pinned, no regeneration on offer.

The standard advice — get it up the motorway — is sound, until it is not. In limp mode you are beyond that line: cleaning is what will work, not more miles.

The blocked filter treated after a warning light in Staple, Kent

Where the car stands is where the DPF is done round Staple

Most people do not see coming this bit: the filter remains. The job takes place with the DPF yet bolted to the vehicle — on your driveway, in a work car park, any place the car can wait for a few hours.

A diagnostic happens first — real-time data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by actual weight, and a look over of the sensor feeds, glow plugs and connected hardware, so other faults are cleared before a thing is cleaned.

Soot and ash that a regeneration alone will never shift are lifted second, by a cleaning solution put through the access point on that vehicle, which expands inside the filter. Sometimes a filter is loaded enough to take doing twice.

A regeneration is next, burning off what the clean has lifted. If you are there, that is done as a monitored drive out of Staple; if not, on the spot where the motor stands, with the real-time data checked after.

A second scan confirms the change, resets the warning light and logs anything still outstanding. Both read-outs are sent over, so you end up with the before and after figures to hand.

When a DPF clean is not the fix

One thing is what cleaning answers — a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does no good for:

  • temperature or pressure sensors flagging a restriction that is not there
  • an EGR valve stuck open
  • an AdBlue system problem
  • a regeneration that never runs, because of glow plugs or injectors
  • a turbo putting oil through the filter

Which is why the scan goes first. When it proves to be one of those, you are warned before any work begins rather than after you have settled up a penny.

Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter hollowed out will fail its MOT, and driving it is illegal, so that is no fix. What gets searched for as DPF renewal replaces nothing: your own filter is treated in place and goes back into use.

The cost for DPF cleaning across Staple

The treatment starts from £299. A call-out charge is added to every visit, and takes in the call-out itself, the booking, the scan and the advice that follows.

Once we are told what you run, and about what the filter will want, the figure gets fixed on the phone. A single price for every job would not be honest. The vehicle shifts it, and so does the address — Staple, Barnsole, or a spot otherwise out in the CT postcode area.

You are not billed for a clean that the scan says will not do it. The call-out charge nonetheless holds, because the visit, the scan and the advice have happened.

Aftercare is included by a 30-day warranty: should the light return within it, an engineer returns to Staple.

Vehicles we clean, and where we reach near Staple

The filter is treated in place on all of them: cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, construction and plant machinery, agricultural machinery. Nothing is taken anywhere.

Most weeks there is by then someone on School Lane, so Staple rarely means a special trip, and Barnsole, Durlock and the places past Guilton come with it. Farther out through Kent is nonetheless worth phoning about — coverage is UK-wide, and it is the diary rather than the distance that picks between today and tomorrow.

Things Staple drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Will a long drive sort it?
Soon enough, and with the car out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. Ten minutes to Co-op Food and back will not manage it; motorway speed, sustained for a while, will.
How long does the visit last?
Allow typically around 2 hours — severely loaded filters sometimes require a second pass, which lengthens it.
How much does it cost around Staple?
It starts from £299, plus the call-out charge taking in the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are move it, which is why quoting goes by phone.
Have I need to be present?
No. The vehicle requires a spot to wait for a couple of hours; nobody expects you to stand with it. Ride along if you like, and the regeneration becomes a watched drive.
Getting to Staple — how soon?
That depends on the calendar, but it is often same-day or next-day. Ring 0303 330 1830 what is free across the CT area.
Is the filter lifted off the motor?
On the mobile service, no: the filter is done in place. We will not lift filters off or bolt them back on, either way.
The light comes back — then what?
The 30-day warranty takes in aftercare, including an engineer returning to Staple.
