Mobile DPF Cleaning in Stackpole and Pembrokeshire

With on-site DPF cleaning, we drive out to the vehicle. No body shop, no filter going anywhere. A technician comes to your address across Stackpole, clears the diesel particulate filter where it is, runs a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you came with.

You'll have a number by phone before anyone departs, the clean opening from £299, and the visit lasting typically around 2 hours.

Most people find us with the light on already, and the motor down on power. That is exactly what this page is written for.

What to do when the DPF light comes on

It may not be the filter in the end. That is the opening thing. A clean is not where a visit opens. A scan is — a number of faults appear as the same signal.

Second thing: how you handle it between now and then matters.

  • Amber light, car even now driving as normal — a long steady run can even now sort it by itself. Costs nothing, and worth a try before you call anything.
  • A drive will not shift it now — limp mode means that window has already closed.
  • A diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under hard acceleration, is the stage to stop arranging long drives and book it in.

Signs the car has been showing you

By the time the light appears, things have generally been going wrong for weeks. It is belated news:

  • dropping away on power, above all uphill
  • an engine whose revs will not pull like they did
  • fuel consumption turning worse
  • stop/start quietly bowing out
  • smoke under acceleration, or a diesel smell in the car

Any one of those, taken by itself, is not conclusive. The light beside them points at a full filter.

The cause diesel particulate filters choke near Stackpole

The driving that goes with a coastal village like Stackpole is the least kind type for a DPF. Look at a normal week: the local primary school and back, Deer Park View at a standstill before the hour, a quick trip to Aldi, a run to Pembroke. Nothing there goes on long enough or is hot enough to finish a regeneration. Soot that should clear banks up instead.

Unless you have a routine reason to head out to the M4, under 50 miles from Stackpole, or over to St Davids under 25 miles away, entire weeks pass without a long unbroken run. Geography is no help.

Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration gives out

The motor is defending itself, which is what limp mode amounts to. The entire difficulty is that a sustained drive works by setting off a regeneration, and in limp mode the revs will not rise and power is capped.

The common advice — get it up the motorway — is sound, right until it is not. The filter requires treatment rather than road work once the vehicle has gone into limp mode.

On-site DPF cleaning where the car stands round Stackpole

On your drive, in a work car park, any place the motor can sit for a couple of hours: the job takes place with the filter still bolted on, which is the detail most owners do not see coming.

Nothing is touched until other faults are cleared. That involves a check first: real-time data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by actual weight, and a review of the sensors, glow plugs and connected parts.

Then comes the clean itself: a cleaning solution in through the car's own access point, expanding inside the filter and freeing what a regeneration never can. Where the filter is heavily clogged, allow for a second pass.

What the clean has loosened is then cleared by a regeneration. Either it runs as a monitored drive out of Stackpole, with you present, or it goes where the car waits and the running data is verified once done.

Then a second diagnostic, proving the change, clearing the warning light and logging anything still showing. Both reports are emailed, so the before and after figures are on record.

What a DPF clean will not cure

Only one fault is cured by a clean: the filter clogged with ash and soot. It does little for:

  • the wrong reading from a temperature sensor
  • EGR valves that jam open
  • an AdBlue system problem
  • injectors or glow plugs that prevent a regeneration starting in the first place
  • a turbo passing oil through the filter

The first scan is there for just that. When it proves to be one of those, you are warned before any work starts rather than after you have handed over anything.

DPF renewal is what people search for, but no part is swapped: the filter you have is cleared where it sits and sent back into service. Nor is having it hollowed out a solution, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes an offence. Two more things worth noting.

DPF cleaning charges across Stackpole

A call-out charge stands whatever follows, and pays for the visit, the booking fee, the scan and the advice given. Treatment itself starts from £299.

The price is agreed over the phone, once we know the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. No flat rate could be straight. Two separate things shift it: what you run, and where you are — Stackpole itself, over at St Petrox, or farther out within the SA postcode area.

If the diagnostic counts treatment out, there is no charge to pay for it. What nonetheless holds is the call-out charge, since the visit was made, the diagnostic was run and the advice was offered.

A 30-day warranty includes aftercare on the job, and that includes an engineer coming back out to Stackpole if the light comes back inside the window.

The vehicles we clean and the patch we take in around Stackpole

Whatever it is — private car, light van, light commercial, HGV, plant, construction machinery, agricultural vehicle — the very same on-site service holds, and the filter never departs it.

The same round that puts technicians on Deer Park View most weeks covers Stackpole, St Petrox, East Trewent and the places beyond Maiden Wells. It is the schedule, not the distance, that settles whether it is today or tomorrow, and coverage reaches UK-wide — so ring anyway from further out across Pembrokeshire.

What Stackpole drivers want to know about DPF cleaning

Can I simply take it for a long drive?
If you get it early, and the vehicle is not in limp mode, sometimes. That requires motorway speed for a sustained stretch, rather than a brief trip to Aldi.
Does the visit take long?
It is typically around 2 hours. A heavily clogged filter can take a second clean, which extends that.
Cost around Stackpole — what is it?
Beginning from £299, with a charge for coming out that takes in the diagnostic and advice on what to do next. The vehicle and your address both change the price, so we price on the phone.
Have I have to be present?
The motor needs a space for two hours or so. Nobody expects you to be in it. Choosing to be there is no problem: the regeneration then goes out on the road, monitored.
When can someone travel to Stackpole?
Depending on the calendar, often same-day or next-day is usual. Ring 0303 330 1830 and we will tell you what is available across the SA area.
Will the filter be taken off?
Not on the on-site service — it is done where it is. And neither does lifting a filter off nor fitting one back on is work we do.
And if the light comes back?
Aftercare comes inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer coming back to Stackpole.
