Mobile DPF Cleaning across St Johns and Warwickshire
With on-site DPF cleaning, we come to the motor. An engineer arrives at your address in St Johns, treats the diesel particulate filter while it is still on the motor, runs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you came with.
Nobody leaves until the number is settled over the phone. The visit lasts typically around 2 hours and the clean opens from £299.
The light is showing and the car is down on power — that is how we usually meet people, and what this page covers.
Your DPF light is showing — what next?
It could not be the unit whatsoever. That is the main thing. A clean is not where a visit begins. A scan is — plenty of faults register as the same light.
The use you manage in the meantime counts. That is the other thing.
- Worth a shot before you book anything: amber light, vehicle driving as normal, just one steady run, no charge.
- A drive will not touch it now — limp mode means that window has by then gone.
- Diesel smell in the interior, or black smoke under the throttle — stop arranging long drives and get it looked at.
What the motor has been warning you
Belated news, the light. The symptoms tend to build for a while before it appears:
- tailing off on power, above all uphill
- an engine whose revs will not climb as they should
- the fuel use is down
- quietly, the stop/start packs in
- the interior reeking of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate
On its own, none of that is evidence. Alongside the light with them, the filter is a fair assumption.
The reason diesel particulate filters choke near St Johns
The driving that goes with a residential suburb like St Johns is the least kind kind for a DPF. None of it lasts long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration: the school run to St John's Primary School and Nursery, St Nicholas Avenue crawling at half eight, a few minutes to Sainsbury's, the run to Kenilworth. What should burn off remains.
The M40 sits under 10 miles from St Johns, Coventry under 10 miles out, and unless something takes you out that way regularly, entire weeks slip past without the long steady run that clears a DPF. Geography does not help.
The point a DPF regeneration can no longer run
Limp mode is the motor looking after itself. With power held down and the revs pinned, the regeneration the filter needs cannot run at all. That counts, because triggering one is exactly what a motorway run does.
The common advice — run it up the motorway — is sensible, until it is not. The far side of that point — limp mode — driving will not do it, and the filter requires cleaning.
Where the motor stands is where the DPF is done across St Johns
Nothing is taken from the car. That catches out people. The DPF sits fitted where it is and the work is done around it, on a driveway, in a works car park, any place it can sit for two hours or so.
The ECU is read first, giving soot load by percentage and by actual weight, along with a look over of sensor readings, glow plugs and connected components, so nothing is touched while another fault is still open.
After that comes the clean itself: cleaning fluid in through the motor's own access point, opening out inside the filter and lifting what a regeneration never can. A second pass is sometimes called for on severely clogged filters.
A regeneration comes next, clearing what the clean has freed. If you are there, that is carried out as a monitored drive out of St Johns; if not, on the spot where the car waits, with the running data checked once done.
Then a second scan, verifying the change, resetting the warning light and logging anything still outstanding. Both read-outs are emailed, so the before and after figures are kept.
The faults a DPF clean cannot fix
A filter clogged with soot and ash is the one thing a clean cures. It will not touch:
- the wrong reading from a pressure or temperature sensor
- the EGR valve held open
- a failure in the AdBlue system
- glow plugs or injectors blocking the regeneration running whatsoever
- oil passing through the filter from a failing turbo
Finding that out is the first diagnostic's job. When one of those is the fault, you find out about it at the outset rather than once the money has left already.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter hollowed out will fail its MOT, and driving it is illegal, so that is no remedy. What gets typed in as DPF renewal exchanges nothing: your own filter is cleaned in place and goes back into service.
What DPF cleaning costs across St Johns
A clean begins from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it takes in the call-out, the booking, the scans and the advice.
Once we have what you drive, and about what the filter will want, the number gets agreed by phone. A single price for everyone would not be truthful. Whereabouts you are matters as much as what you own: St Johns itself, Abbey Fields next door, or further out across the CV postcode area.
If the diagnostic counts cleaning out, there is nothing to pay for it. What still stands is the call-out charge, since the visit was made, the diagnostic was run and the advice was given.
A 30-day warranty includes aftercare on the clean, and that includes an engineer travelling back out to St Johns if the light returns inside the window.
Attila the engineer arrived on time and was very polite and knowledgeable. He explained everything very clearly and carried out process with no time wasting.
Absolutely amazing job. Would highly recommend this company and the job they did was amazing. Cars never ran so good.
Highly recommended I went plenty places to fix DPF but no one could and very expensive new one then found here called them same day they came and fixed now all good and best customer service they give before work and after work as well.
Where we get to round St Johns, and what we clean
The filter is cleaned where it sits on all of them: cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, plant machinery, farm vehicles. Nothing is taken anywhere.
Most weeks there is already someone on St Nicholas Avenue, so St Johns rarely means a journey of its own, and Abbey Fields, Windy Arbour and the places past Leek Wootton follow. Farther out through Warwickshire is even so worth phoning about — coverage runs UK-wide, and it is the calendar rather than the distance that decides between one day and the next.

What St Johns drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Can I merely take it for a long drive?
- If you spot it early, and the vehicle is not in limp mode, sometimes. A steady run at motorway speed is what it wants — not ten minutes to Sainsbury's and back.
- Broadly how long does it last?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a severely loaded filter can take cleaning twice, which takes longer.
- Around St Johns, what does it run to?
- Cleaning begins from £299, and the call-out charge on top takes in the visit, the check and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are shift it, which is why settling it is done by phone.
- Do I have to be around?
- A spot for the car to wait, for a couple of hours, is all that is required. Not you. The regeneration can be carried out as a monitored drive if you would rather come along.
- Coming to St Johns — how soon?
- That comes down to the schedule, but it is often same-day or next-day. Ring 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what is open across the CV area.
- The filter — does it leave the motor?
- On the mobile service, no: the filter is treated in place. Lifting a filter off or bolting one back on count as anything something we do in either direction.
- What if the light comes back?
- Taken in by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer travelling back to St Johns.
