Snargate, Kent: Mobile DPF Cleaning
Treating the DPF takes place at the vehicle, not at a garage. An engineer arrives at your address over in Snargate, clears the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the vehicle, performs a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you came with.
The visit runs typically around 2 hours, the clean starts from £299, and the number is agreed on the phone before anyone travels.
Most drivers find us with the light already on, and the vehicle down on power. That is the position this page is written for.
DPF light on? What to do
The filter is not automatically what is to blame, and that comes first. A check happens before any work, because that same panel light has a number of possible faults behind it.
The motoring you do in the meantime counts. That is the next thing.
- A long steady run may yet do it, provided the light is amber and the car goes normally. Costs nothing, so attempt that before ringing.
- Car already fallen into limp mode — that window has closed. A drive will not reach it now.
- A diesel smell inside, or black smoke under hard acceleration, is the stage to stop booking long drives and book it in.
Before the light, what the motor was telling you
Symptoms have normally been growing for weeks before the light so much as appears. Late news, in other words:
- power dropping away, especially going uphill
- revs that will not pull the way they once did
- the fuel consumption is down
- stop/start without a word packing in
- the cabin smelling of diesel, or smoke when you pull away
Alone, none of that is evidence. Alongside the light, it is a fair bet the filter is full.
The explanation diesel particulate filters block around Snargate
For a DPF, the least kind motoring is the kind you meet across a rural hamlet such as Snargate. A regeneration takes the time and heat, and sees not much: not on the school run to Brenzett Church of England Primary School, not on B2080 at half past eight, not on five minutes to Sainsbury's, and not on the dash to Appledore (Kent). Soot that should clear builds up instead.
Save when you have a routine cause to get out to the M20, under 10 miles from Snargate, or out to Canterbury under 25 miles away, entire weeks slip past without a long steady drive. Geography is no help.
DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode ends it
Limp mode is the car defending itself. Power is limited, the revs will not rise, and the regeneration the filter requires can no longer run — which is the real difficulty, because a long drive works by setting off that regeneration.
Taking it up the motorway is the common advice, and it stands right up to a point. The filter requires a clean rather than road work once the motor has dropped into limp mode.
Call-out DPF cleaning where the motor stands round Snargate
Nothing is taken from the motor. That catches out people. The DPF stays bolted where it is and the work happens around it, on a forecourt, in a works car park, wherever it can wait for a few hours.
The ECU is read first, reporting soot load by percentage and by actual weight, along with a review of sensor readings, glow plugs and associated hardware, so nothing is cleaned while another fault is still in play.
A solution next is fed in through the entry point on that car, spreading inside the filter to loosen soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never shift. Sometimes a filter is loaded enough to take doing twice.
What the clean has lifted is then cleared by a regeneration. Either it runs as a monitored drive out of Snargate, with you along, or it goes where the car waits and the running data is verified afterwards.
A second diagnostic proves the change, resets the warning light and logs anything still showing. Both sets of figures are emailed over, so you end up with the before and after figures on record.
Where cleaning is not the fix
One thing is what treatment cures — a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- a temperature or pressure sensor reporting a block that is not there
- a jammed EGR valve
- a fault in the AdBlue system
- glow plugs or injectors stopping the regeneration starting whatsoever
- turbo trouble, with oil reaching the filter
Finding that out is the first diagnostic's whole job. If it turns out to be one of those, you are let know before any work gets going rather than after you have settled up for it.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter cut out fails its MOT, and driving it is an offence, so that is no solution. What gets searched for as DPF renewal replaces nothing: your own filter is treated in place and goes back into service.
Figures for DPF cleaning around Snargate
The clean opens from £299. A call-out charge covers every visit, and takes in the call-out itself, the booking, the scan and the advice that follows.
Once we know what you own, and broadly what the filter will need, the number gets agreed on the phone. A single price for every job would not be truthful. The car shifts it, and so does the postcode — Snargate, Brenzett, or somewhere farther out in the TN postcode area.
Cleaning that will not help is not a clean you pay for, and the diagnostic is what says so. Because the visit, the scan and the advice have been done, the call-out charge nonetheless stands.
If the light returns inside that time, an engineer heads back out to Snargate — the job carries a 30-day warranty including aftercare.
Amazing service really professional on the phone and great guy that came out very happy with the work done. Using my van for a dog walking business you gave me confidence that work carried out in a professional Prompt and friendly way. Thank you.
Great experience with DPF. We got an appointment next day and the customer service was great all the way through. Whilst I hope I don't have to use them again, I would recommend to anyone!
Engineer did a analysis check, found system was clean. He found the that the sensors needed resetting so no extra charge. Happy to recommend this service.
Where we travel around Snargate, and what we clean
Whatever it is — estate, light van, light commercial, lorry, plant, construction machinery, agricultural machine — the very same mobile service applies, and the filter never departs it.
Nearly every week there is already someone on B2080, so Snargate hardly ever means a detour, and Brenzett, Appledore and the villages past Brookland follow. It is the diary, not the distance, that picks whether it is today or tomorrow, and coverage extends UK-wide — so phone even from even further out around Kent.

Things Snargate drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive sort it?
- Quickly enough, and with the vehicle out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. It wants a sustained run at motorway speed, not fifteen minutes or so to Sainsbury's and back.
- How long does the visit run?
- Plan on typically around 2 hours — badly loaded filters sometimes require a second pass, which extends it.
- Across Snargate, what does it come to?
- A clean begins from £299, and the call-out charge on top covers the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are shift it, which is why quoting happens by phone.
- Do I have to be there?
- A spot for the motor to wait, for a couple of hours, is all that is wanted. Not you. Preferring to be there is welcome: the regeneration then goes out on the road, monitored.
- How soon can someone travel to Snargate?
- You are offered often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is already in the diary. Ring 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what is open across the TN area.
- Does the filter leave the car?
- On the call-out service, no: the filter is cleaned in place. We will not take filters off or fit them back on, whichever way.
- The light reappears — then what?
- Aftercare comes inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer returning to Snargate.
