Slades Green, Worcestershire: Mobile DPF Cleaning
Call-out DPF cleaning travels to the car. An engineer comes at your door in Slades Green, cleans the diesel particulate filter while it is still on the motor, performs a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you came with.
Nobody travels until the number is agreed on the phone. The visit takes typically around 2 hours and the clean opens from £299.
If the light is already on and the motor is down on power, this page is for you. That is how most people arrive here.
Your DPF light is on — what now?
First thing: it is not always the filter. That light can follow several faults, not just one, so the visit opens with a check and not with treatment.
It counts what you do with the vehicle between now and the appointment.
- A long steady run may yet do it, provided the light is amber and the car goes fine. Costs nothing, so attempt that before calling.
- That window has closed once the vehicle has slipped into limp mode. A drive will not get there now.
- A diesel smell in there, or black smoke under hard acceleration, is the moment to stop arranging long drives and call.
What the motor has been warning you
By the time the light arrives, things have generally been deteriorating for some time. It is last news:
- going uphill, the power falls off
- an engine whose revs will not rise like they did
- fuel use turning worse
- silently, the stop/start gives up
- the interior stinking of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate
That is not conclusive on its own. It is a fair guess the filter is full once the light is on as well.
Clogged diesel particulate filters near Slades Green, and the why
Slades Green is a small village, and the driving that belongs to one is the least kind kind for a DPF. A regeneration wants time and heat, and gets not much: not on the school run to Eldersfield Lawn CofE Primary School, not on Village Road at half eight, not on ten minutes to Aldi, and not on the run to Ashchurch for Tewkesbury. What should burn away remains.
Unless you have a standing need to head out to the M50, under a mile from Slades Green, or out to Gloucester under 15 miles away, whole weeks go by without a long steady run. Geography is no help.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration gives out
Limp mode is the car protecting itself. Output is limited, the revs will not pull, and the regeneration the filter requires can never happen — which is the real problem, because a sustained drive works by starting that regeneration.
Getting it up the motorway is the usual advice, and it holds as far as a line. The filter wants cleaning rather than road work once the car has slipped into limp mode.
Mobile DPF cleaning where the motor stands in Slades Green
Most people do not anticipate this part: the filter stays on. The job happens with the DPF yet fitted to the motor — on your driveway, in a work car park, wherever the motor can wait for a while.
A check happens first — running data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by actual weight, and a check of the sensor readings, glow plugs and connected components, so other faults are cleared before a thing is touched.
Then the treatment. A cleaning fluid is fed in through the entry point on that motor and expands inside the filter, freeing the soot and ash a regeneration alone will never move. A second pass is sometimes called for on badly blocked filters.
Then a regeneration, to burn off what the clean has freed. Either it goes as a monitored drive out of Slades Green, with you present, or it runs where the motor waits and the real-time data is checked afterwards.
Both read-outs go over by email, so the figures from either end are on record. The second check is what confirms the change, resets the light and logs whatever is still outstanding.
Where cleaning is not the answer
One thing is what cleaning cures — a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does little for:
- the wrong reading from a temperature sensor
- EGR valves that hang open
- AdBlue system faults
- a regeneration that never starts, because of glow plugs or injectors
- the turbo passing oil into the filter
The first check is there for exactly that. Where one of those is the fault, you find out about it up front rather than once the money has changed hands already.
A couple more worth bearing in mind. Having the filter cut out is not a remedy — a vehicle without a serviceable DPF fails its MOT and driving it is against the law. And cleaning is sometimes looked up as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your existing filter is treated in place and returned into use.
DPF cleaning costs in Slades Green
A clean opens from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it covers the call-out, the booking, the checks and the advice.
Naming a flat rate would not be straight. We settle it over phone, once the vehicle and its expected needs are known. What you drive and where you are both shift it: Slades Green itself, over at Bushley Green, or further out across the GL postcode area.
If the check rules cleaning out, there is nothing to pay for it. The call-out charge even so applies, because the visit, the scan and the advice have been done.
Aftercare is included by a 30-day warranty: should the light return within it, an engineer returns to Slades Green.
Ash was great. Super friendly and equipped with plenty of knowledge. Glad he got sent to help my car out!
Bas was very knowledgeable and explained everything that was happening. He was very thorough. I would be happy to recommend DPF fixer to anyone experiencing the issues I was, especially when the cost of a new filter runs into the thousands of pounds.
Dave was great and really knowledgeable, was polite enough to call me letting me know his arrival time. He cleaned my dpf in about an hour and even gave me some advice on further maintenance on my BMW. Thanks Dave.
Where we travel round Slades Green, and what we clean
The filter is done where it sits on all of them: cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, construction and plant machinery, agricultural vehicles. Nothing is taken anywhere.
Technicians are along Village Road most weeks, so Slades Green is rarely a special trip, and the same run picks up Bushley Green, Long Green and the villages out past Forthampton. Farther out through Worcestershire is nonetheless worth a call — coverage runs UK-wide, and it is the schedule rather than the distance that settles between one day and the next.

Questions Slades Green drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run shift it?
- If you get it early enough, and the motor is not in limp mode, sometimes. It needs a steady run at motorway speed, not fifteen minutes or so to Aldi and back.
- Broadly how long does it run?
- Allow typically around 2 hours — badly blocked filters sometimes require a second pass, which adds to it.
- Price across Slades Green — what is it?
- Cleaning begins from £299, and the call-out charge on top covers the visit, the check and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are change it, which is why quoting goes by phone.
- Is it needed for me to be present?
- The motor requires a spot for two hours or so. You need not be in it. If you would rather come along, the regeneration can be done as a watched drive instead.
- How soon can someone get to Slades Green?
- You are in for often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is already in the diary. Call 0303 330 1830 and we will let you what is open across the GL area.
- The filter — does it come away from the car?
- It is cleaned where it sits, on the on-site service. That work — a filter off, a filter back on — is not work we do.
- What if the light comes back?
- Aftercare falls inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer returning to Slades Green.
