Mobile DPF Cleaning around Slack and West Yorkshire
The motor stays where it is — on-site DPF cleaning goes to it. Your car isn't taken anywhere and the filter will not leave it. An engineer arrives at your door over in Slack, clears the diesel particulate filter fitted to the vehicle and performs a DPF regeneration.
The visit lasts typically around 2 hours, the clean begins from £299, and the figure is agreed over the phone before anyone travels.
The light is already on and the vehicle is low on power — that is how we normally come across people, and precisely what this page covers.
DPF light on? What to do
Not the DPF, always. First thing to get straight. A number of faults put the identical light on the same dashboard, which is why a visit begins with a diagnostic rather than with treatment.
The driving you do in the meantime tells. That is the other thing.
- Motor even now driving normally on an amber light — have a go at a long constant run first. It costs nothing and regularly clears the filter without help.
- A drive will not touch it now — limp mode means that window has by then gone.
- Diesel smell in the interior, or black smoke under the throttle — stop booking long drives and get it checked.
Signs the car has been sending you
The light is belated news. By the time it appears, the symptoms have normally been growing for weeks:
- dropping away on power, particularly uphill
- the revs no longer climb the way they used to
- economy that is worse than it used to be
- quietly, the stop/start packs in
- smoke under hard acceleration, or a diesel smell in the car
On its own, none of that is evidence. It is a fair bet the filter is loaded once the light is showing too.
Why diesel particulate filters block near Slack
For a DPF, the worst motoring is the kind you find around a rural hamlet such as Slack. The school run to Scapegoat Hill Junior and Infant School, Horse Pond Lane at a standstill at half past eight, five minutes to Co-op Food, the hop to Slaithwaite — none of it lasts long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration. Instead of burning off, the soot collects.
Where you sit does not help either. The M62 is under a mile from Slack and Bradford is under 15 miles away, so unless something pulls you out that way regularly, weeks slip past without the long steady run that would clear the filter by itself.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops working
Limp mode is the vehicle protecting itself. Pulling power is held down, the revs will not climb, and the regeneration the filter needs can no longer complete — which is the whole problem, because a sustained drive works by triggering that regeneration.
So the standard advice to get it up the motorway is good advice, until it is not. Past that stage — limp mode — driving will not be enough, and the filter requires cleaning.
Mobile DPF cleaning where the vehicle stands across Slack
The filter does not leave it. That is the detail most owners do not see coming: the job takes place with the DPF still bolted to the car, on your drive, in a work car park, anywhere the motor can wait for a couple of hours.
Nothing is started until other faults are eliminated. That involves a scan first: real-time data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by actual weight, and a check of the sensor feeds, glow plugs and related hardware.
Then the clean. A cleaning fluid is injected through the access port on that car and opens out inside the filter, freeing the soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never budge. A second pass is sometimes needed on badly blocked filters.
Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean lifted. That is a monitored drive out of Slack if you are along, or a static regeneration where the car stands, with the real-time data checked once done.
Finally the scan runs again — the change proven, the light put out, anything still open noted. Both sets of figures arrive with you by email, so the numbers are kept.
When a DPF clean is not the fix
Only one fault is answered by a clean: the filter clogged with ash and soot. It does little for:
- pressure or temperature sensors reporting a blockage that is not there
- an EGR valve jammed open
- an AdBlue system problem
- glow plugs or injectors preventing the regeneration completing whatsoever
- oil passing through the filter from a failing turbo
Finding that out is the first diagnostic's whole job. When it turns out to be one of those, you are warned before any work gets going rather than after you have paid a penny.
Hollowing the filter out is not a solution: without a serviceable DPF a vehicle will fail its MOT, and driving it is illegal. DPF renewal is the phrase people search for, though nothing is exchanged — your own filter is cleaned in place and sent back into use. Two more worth knowing.
DPF cleaning charges across Slack
The cleaning starts from £299. A call-out charge applies to every visit, and pays for the call-out itself, the booking, the scan and the advice that follows.
Once we have what you own, and about what the filter will take, the number gets agreed on the phone. A single price for all would not be truthful. The motor changes it, and so does the postcode — Slack, Outlane, or anywhere otherwise out in the HD postcode area.
Where the diagnostic says treatment will not work, you are not billed for cleaning. Because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have happened, the call-out charge even so holds.
If the light reappears inside that window, an engineer heads back out to Slack — the work comes with a 30-day warranty including aftercare.

What we clean, and how far we reach round Slack
Whatever it is — estate, light van, light commercial, heavy goods vehicle, plant, construction machinery, farm vehicle — the very same call-out service holds, and the filter never departs it.
The same trip that keeps technicians on Horse Pond Lane most weeks picks up Slack, Outlane, Snow Lea and the places beyond Nettleton Hill. Call anyway from farther out across West Yorkshire. Coverage runs UK-wide, and the date you are given comes down to the diary rather than how far away you are.
A note on Slack

Slack sits near the outskirts of Bradford, approximately 10.7 miles from the city centre, and is surrounded by nearby places such as Outlane, Nettleton Hill, and Outlane Moor. Slack has a population of around 913 people, predominantly living in terraced housing.
Things Slack drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Can I merely take it for a long drive?
- It may, provided you spot it early enough and limp mode has not arrived. That calls for motorway speed for a sustained stretch, rather than a brief trip to Co-op Food.
- The visit lasts how long?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a badly clogged filter can take cleaning twice, which runs on.
- Cost around Slack — what is it?
- Cleaning begins from £299, and the call-out charge on top pays for the visit, the scan and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are move it, which is why pricing goes by phone.
- Is it essential for me to be around?
- Space for the vehicle to stand, for a couple of hours, is all that is wanted. Not you. Ride along if you like, and the regeneration turns into a supervised drive.
- Can someone get to Slack soon?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is now in the diary. Phone 0303 330 1830 and we will say to you what is open across the HD area.
- Does the filter come off the motor?
- It is treated where it is, on the mobile service. Neither taking a filter off nor fitting one back on is work we do.
- What if the light reappears?
- Included by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer heading back to Slack.
