Mobile DPF Cleaning across Sithney and Cornwall
Treating the DPF happens at the car, not at a workshop. Your car will not be taken off and the filter does not leave it. A fitter comes at your address across Sithney, clears the diesel particulate filter fitted to the car and performs a DPF regeneration.
Allow for the visit lasting typically around 2 hours. The clean begins from £299, fixed over the phone before anyone leaves.
Most drivers find us with the light showing, and the motor down on power. That is exactly what this page is written for.
DPF light on? What comes next
The DPF is not always what is wrong, and that leads. That light can arise from a number of faults, not only one, so the visit starts with a check and not with cleaning.
How the car is run in the meantime counts too.
- Worth a shot before you call anything: amber light, motor driving normally, just one steady run, no cost.
- Vehicle already gone into limp mode — that window has shut. A drive will not touch it now.
- Diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under hard acceleration — stop arranging long drives and get it looked at.
Signs the vehicle has been sending you
The light is belated news. By the time it appears, the symptoms have usually been building for weeks:
- going uphill, the power tails off
- an engine whose revs will not pull like they did
- worse fuel economy
- stop/start silently packing in
- diesel in the car, or smoke on the way up through the gearbox
None of that is evidence by itself. It is a fair assumption the filter is blocked once the light is showing too.
Why diesel particulate filters clog round Sithney
Being a coastal village, Sithney throws up exactly the motoring a DPF copes with least well. Look at a normal week: Sithney Community Primary School and back, B3302 at a halt before the hour, a five-minute run to Lidl, a hop to Camborne. None of it there lasts long enough or is hot enough to finish a regeneration. Soot that should clear banks up instead.
The map does not oblige either. The M5 is over 50 miles from Sithney and Truro is under 25 miles away, so unless something takes you out that way routinely, whole weeks slip past without the sustained run that could empty the filter on its own.
Why limp mode prevents a DPF regeneration
It is self-preservation: that is all limp mode amounts to. Power is capped, the revs will not climb, and the regeneration the filter needs can never run — which is the whole catch, because a sustained drive works by starting that regeneration.
So the usual advice to get it up the motorway is good advice, up until it is not. In limp mode you are the far side of that line: cleaning is what will help, not more miles.
DPF cleaning at the motor in Sithney
Most owners do not see coming this part: the filter stays on. The job takes place with the DPF even now fixed to the vehicle — on your front, in a work car park, wherever the vehicle can wait for a few hours.
The ECU is read first, showing soot load by percent and by actual weight, along with a check of sensors, glow plugs and connected parts, so nothing is cleaned while another fault is still open.
After that comes the clean itself: a cleaning solution in through the motor's own access port, expanding inside the filter and lifting what a regeneration will not. Where the filter is heavily blocked, expect a second pass.
Then a regeneration, to drive off what the clean has freed. Stay with the car and it turns into a monitored drive out of Sithney. Drop it and the regeneration goes statically, with real-time data verified once it is done.
Both read-outs come through by email, so the figures from either end are kept. The second diagnostic is what verifies the change, resets the light and logs whatever is still outstanding.
When a DPF clean is not the solution
A clean answers one thing: a filter choked with soot and ash. It does little for:
- sensors, pressure, showing a blockage that is not real
- an EGR valve jammed open
- a failure in the AdBlue system
- a regeneration that simply never runs, because of glow plugs or injectors
- turbo failure, with oil reaching the filter
The first check is there for exactly that. When one of those is the fault, you learn of it at the outset rather than once the money has gone already.
DPF renewal is what people type in, but no part is swapped: the filter you already own is treated where it sits and sent back into service. Nor is having it gutted a solution, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes illegal. Two more things worth noting.
The cost for DPF cleaning in Sithney
Any visit carries a call-out charge — getting to you, making the booking, carrying out the check and giving the advice. The clean itself begins from £299.
No single flat rate would be straight, so the figure is agreed by the phone once we have the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. Two separate things change it: what you own, and where you are — Sithney itself, out at Sithney Common, or farther out in the TR postcode area.
You are not charged for a clean that the diagnostic says will not do it. You nonetheless pay that charge: someone came out, carried out the check and gave you the advice.
A 30-day warranty includes aftercare on the work, and that includes an engineer heading back out to Sithney if the light returns inside the time.

The vehicles we clean and the patch we take in round Sithney
The filter is treated in place on all of them: cars, vans of any size and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant machinery, farm vehicles. Nothing is carried anywhere.
Sithney is hardly ever a special trip: our engineers are along B3302 most weeks, and the same run takes in Sithney Common, Sithney Green and the spots out past Breage. Ring anyway from even further out through Cornwall. Coverage runs UK-wide, and the date you are offered depends on the diary rather than how far away you are.

What Sithney drivers wonder about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run clear it?
- If you get it in time, and the car is not in limp mode, sometimes. Fifteen minutes to Lidl and back will not do it; motorway speed, kept for a stretch, will.
- How long does the visit last?
- Count on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean adding to that where the filter is badly loaded.
- What does it come to in Sithney?
- The call-out charge covers the visit, the diagnostic and the advice; treatment itself starts from £299. We price on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both shift the figure.
- Must I be there in person?
- Space for the car to wait, for a couple of hours, is all that is wanted. Not you. If you would prefer to come along, the regeneration can be carried out as a supervised drive instead.
- When can someone travel to Sithney?
- That depends on the diary, but it is often same-day or next-day. One call to 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what the TR area has open.
- The filter — does it come away from the motor?
- It is done where it sits, on the mobile service. We will not get filters off or bolt them back on, in either direction.
- And if the light reappears?
- Aftercare sits inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer coming back to Sithney.
