Mobile DPF Cleaning in Scredda and Cornwall
With on-site DPF cleaning, we drive out to the car. No garage, no filter coming off. A technician comes to your address in Scredda, clears the diesel particulate filter where it is, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you started with.
Nobody sets off until the price is agreed by the phone. The visit lasts typically around 2 hours and the clean opens from £299.
If the light is on already and the vehicle is down on power, this page is yours. That is how most people get to us.
DPF light on? What to do
First thing: it is not automatically the unit. A number of faults put the identical light on the identical dashboard, which is why a visit opens with a scan rather than with treatment.
It counts what you manage with the vehicle between now and the visit.
- Amber light, car yet driving as normal — a long steady run can even now sort it by itself. Costs nothing at all, and worth trying before you ring anything.
- Vehicle already dropped into limp mode — that window has closed. A drive will not shift it now.
- A diesel smell in there, or black smoke under the throttle, is the point to stop planning long drives and ring.
The vehicle has been warning you already
Symptoms have normally been mounting for a while before the light so much as appears. Late news, in other words:
- power tailing off, particularly going uphill
- you notice the revs never reach where they always went
- the fuel use is worse
- stop/start silently packing in
- diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the way up through the gearbox
Any one of those, taken alone, is not evidence. It is a fair assumption the filter is full once the light is showing too.
Choked diesel particulate filters round Scredda, and the why
Being a rural hamlet, Scredda generates precisely the driving a DPF manages least well. A regeneration needs the time and heat, and has neither: not on the school run to Carclaze Community Primary School, not on Mount Stamper Road at the morning rush, not on a few minutes to Aldi, and not on the dash to St Austell. The soot that should clear builds up instead.
Where you sit does not oblige either. The M5 is over 50 miles from Scredda and Truro is under 15 miles away, so unless something carries you out that way often, whole weeks go by without the long unbroken run that would clear the filter on its own.
The stage a DPF regeneration can no longer complete
The motor is protecting itself, which is what limp mode means. Pulling power is held down, the revs will not climb, and the regeneration the filter requires can no longer run — which is the entire problem, because a proper drive works by starting that regeneration.
The standard advice — get it up the motorway — is sound, until it is not. The filter wants a clean rather than road work once the vehicle has dropped into limp mode.
The car stays in place for on-site DPF cleaning across Scredda
Nothing comes off the motor. That throws people. The DPF stays bolted where it is and the work goes on around it, on a drive, in a works car park, any place it can stand for a few hours.
Nothing is cleaned until other faults are eliminated. That involves a scan first: live data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by actual weight, and a check of the sensor feeds, glow plugs and related parts.
After that comes the clean itself: a cleaning solution in through the car's own access port, spreading inside the filter and loosening what a regeneration cannot. Where the filter is badly clogged, expect a second pass.
What the clean has freed is then driven off by a regeneration. Ride along with the vehicle and it turns into a monitored drive out of Scredda. Park it and the regeneration runs on the spot, with running data checked once it is done.
A second check confirms the change, puts out the warning light and notes anything still outstanding. Both reports are emailed over, so you end up with the before and after figures to hand.
Where treatment is not the solution
Cleaning fixes one thing: a filter choked with soot and ash. It does nothing for:
- the wrong reading from a temperature sensor
- EGR valves that hang open
- AdBlue system faults
- worn glow plugs or injectors, so never a regeneration ever runs
- a turbo passing oil through the filter
Which is why the scan happens first. If it is found to be one of those, you are warned before any work gets going rather than after you have settled up for it.
Cutting the filter out is not a remedy: without a working DPF a vehicle fails its MOT, and driving it is against the law. DPF renewal is the wording people look up, though nothing is swapped — your own filter is cleaned in place and put back into use. Two more worth knowing.
DPF cleaning prices in Scredda
The cleaning opens from £299. A call-out charge is added to every visit, and covers the call-out itself, the booking, the check and the advice that goes with it.
Not one flat rate would be truthful, so the price is fixed on the phone once we know the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. What you own and where you are both shift it: Scredda itself, over at Carclaze, or otherwise out within the PL postcode area.
Where the scan says a clean will not do it, you are not charged for cleaning. The call-out charge still stands, because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have taken place.
Aftercare is covered by a 30-day warranty: should the light reappear within it, an engineer heads back to Scredda.
Great service. No garages would touch the issue so to find this company that comes to your house was brilliant. Effective communication and booked in quickly which I appreciated. The job was completed before I could offer them a cuppa! I would recommend this company.
Liam was excellent, he did a full clean, but was not satisfied and completed it twice more until the readings were to his satisfaction. Pre and post clean customer service also commendable. Vehicle is now back to full health and driving well.
What a fantastic company to deal with, so professional from start to finish and big credit to Dave. Thank you once again and definitely I gonna use your service in the future.
Where we get to around Scredda, and what we clean
One mobile service takes in private cars, vans of any size and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant and construction machinery and farm vehicles, and on every one the filter is treated in place rather than taken anywhere.
Scredda is hardly ever a special trip: our engineers are out on Mount Stamper Road nearly every week, and the same run picks up Carclaze, Carluddon and the villages out past Trethowel. It is the schedule, not the distance, that picks whether it is one day or the next, and coverage extends UK-wide — so ring still from even further out around Cornwall.

What Scredda drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough by itself?
- If you get it early enough, and the motor is not in limp mode, sometimes. That means motorway speed for a sustained run, rather than a short trip to Aldi.
- Does the visit take long?
- Allow typically around 2 hours — badly loaded filters sometimes need a second pass, which extends it.
- The cost in Scredda — what is it?
- A clean begins from £299, and the call-out charge on top takes in the visit, the check and the advice. We settle it on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both shift the number.
- Have I have to be around?
- The motor requires a space for two hours or so. You need not be in it. The regeneration can be done as a monitored drive if you would sooner ride along.
- Can someone get to Scredda soon?
- You are in for often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is already in the calendar. Phone 0303 330 1830 and we will tell you what is available across the PL area.
- The filter — does it come away from the motor?
- It is treated where it sits, on the call-out service. We do not lift filters off or put them back on, in either direction.
- The light comes back — then what?
- Taken in by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer coming back to Scredda.
