Mobile DPF Cleaning covering Scottow, Norfolk
Mobile DPF cleaning travels to the motor. Your vehicle isn't taken away and the filter does not budge. An engineer comes at your place over in Scottow, clears the diesel particulate filter fitted to the car and performs a DPF regeneration.
Allow for the visit running typically around 2 hours. The clean opens from £299, settled over the phone before anyone travels.
The light is showing and the vehicle is down on power — that is how we usually meet people, and roughly what this page covers.
What to do when the DPF light is on
Not the filter, necessarily. Opening thing to say. Cleaning is not where a visit opens. A check is — several faults register as the same warning.
The driving you manage in the meantime counts. That is the next thing.
- Amber light, car even now driving fine — a long steady run can still sort it by itself. Costs zero, and worth attempting before you ring anything.
- Vehicle already gone into limp mode — that window has shut. A drive will not shift it now.
- Diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under the throttle — stop planning long drives and get it seen to.
The vehicle has been showing you already
Symptoms have normally been building for a while before the light even arrives. Late news, in other words:
- pulling uphill, the power tails off
- the revs no longer climb the way they once did
- worse fuel use
- stop/start silently giving up
- diesel in the car, or smoke on the way up through the box
Alone, none of that is conclusive. The light beside them suggests a full filter.
Why diesel particulate filters clog round Scottow
Being a rural village, Scottow generates exactly the driving a DPF manages least well. Think about a normal week: Tunstead Primary School and home again, Tunstead Road at a standstill before nine, a quick trip to Roys, a hop to Worstead. Nothing there lasts long enough or gets hot enough to see through a regeneration. Instead of clearing, the soot load collects.
The map does not oblige either. The M11 is over 50 miles from Scottow and Norwich is under 10 miles away, so unless something carries you out that way often, entire weeks slip past without the long steady run that might empty the filter alone.
Why limp mode prevents a DPF regeneration
The vehicle is protecting itself, which is what limp mode amounts to. The real problem is that a sustained drive works by setting off a regeneration, and under limp mode the revs will not climb and power is capped.
The common advice — run it up the motorway — is sensible, up until it is not. The far side of that stage — limp mode — more driving will not be enough, and the filter needs treatment.
Where the motor stands is where the DPF is done round Scottow
Nothing comes off the vehicle. That catches out people. The DPF sits fitted where it is and the work goes on around it, on a drive, in a works car park, any place it can stand for two hours or so.
A diagnostic happens first — running data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by actual weight, and a check of the sensor readings, glow plugs and connected components, so other faults are cleared before a thing is touched.
Soot and ash that a regeneration alone will never budge are freed next, by a cleaning solution passed through the entry point on that car, which spreads inside the filter. Sometimes a filter is clogged enough to take doing twice.
Then a regeneration, to drive off what the clean has lifted. That is a monitored drive out of Scottow if you are there, or a static regeneration where the car waits, with the live data checked after.
A second diagnostic verifies the change, resets the warning light and notes anything still outstanding. Both read-outs are emailed, so you end up with the before and after figures recorded.
What a DPF clean will not fix
Cleaning answers one thing: a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does nothing for:
- pressure sensors showing a restriction that is not there
- the EGR valve held open
- a failure in the AdBlue system
- faulty glow plugs or injectors, so no regeneration ever runs
- turbo trouble, with oil getting into the filter
That is what the first diagnostic is for. You are let know before any work gets going, not after you have paid, where it turns out to be one of those.
Two things more worth knowing. Having the filter cut out is not a fix — a vehicle without a working DPF fails its MOT and driving it is illegal. And cleaning is sometimes described as DPF renewal: nothing is exchanged, your own filter is treated in place and sent back into use.
DPF cleaning costs in Scottow
The treatment begins from £299. A call-out charge is added to every visit, and pays for the call-out itself, the booking, the diagnostic and the advice that follows.
The number is agreed by the phone, once we know the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. No flat rate could be straight. A pair of things move it: what you run, and where you are — Scottow itself, out at Frankfort, or further out within the NR postcode area.
Cleaning that will not do it is not a clean you pay for, and the scan is what says so. You even so pay that charge: someone travelled, carried out the diagnostic and offered you the advice.
A 30-day warranty includes aftercare on the clean, and that includes an engineer heading back out to Scottow if the light comes back inside the time.
Daz was very helpful in diagnosing my problem which turned out to be the turbo system, and gave me advice way beyond the call of duty. A good honest service that was very helpful.
Great communication from the fixer, let me know in advance of his eta and work was done efficiently he then explained what the diagnostics meant, really friendly and helpful, great service.
Recently used this company and were very impressed. Courteous engineer Jason M arrived promptly at arranged time. Thoroughly checked DPF and problem located and solved. Very professional service, my husband found Jason most helpful. Thank you.
The vehicles we clean and the patch we reach around Scottow
Whatever it is — car, panel van, light commercial, heavy goods vehicle, plant, construction machinery, agricultural vehicle — the one mobile service holds, and the filter never departs it.
Technicians are along Tunstead Road week in week out, so Scottow is hardly ever a journey of its own, and the same run covers Frankfort, Badersfield and the places out past Sloley. Coverage runs UK-wide, so further out around Norfolk is even so worth a ring, and what decides between today and tomorrow is the calendar rather than the distance.

Common questions on DPF cleaning around Scottow
- Will a long drive sort it?
- It may, provided you catch it early enough and limp mode has not begun. Five minutes to Roys and back will not manage it; motorway speed, sustained for a stretch, will.
- The visit lasts how long?
- Bank on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean extending that where the filter is badly loaded.
- How much does it run to across Scottow?
- A clean opens from £299, and the call-out charge on top pays for the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. The vehicle and your address both shift the number, so we price on the phone.
- Is it essential for me to be around?
- No. The car wants space to stand for a couple of hours; you do not need to stand with it. If you would sooner come along, the regeneration can be carried out as a watched drive instead.
- Can someone get to Scottow soon?
- That comes down to the diary, but it is often same-day or next-day. Call 0303 330 1830 and we will let you what is free across the NR area.
- Is the filter lifted off the vehicle?
- On the call-out service, no: the filter is done in place. And neither does taking a filter off nor bolting one back on is work we do.
- Suppose the light reappears?
- Included by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer travelling back to Scottow.
