Mobile DPF Cleaning in Scotland, West Yorkshire
Call-out DPF cleaning goes to the vehicle. No garage, no filter going anywhere. A fitter drives out to your place in Scotland, treats the diesel particulate filter in place, performs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you arrived with.
Allow for the visit taking typically around 2 hours. The clean opens from £299, agreed on the phone before anyone leaves.
Most owners find us with the light showing, and the motor down on power. That is the situation this page is meant for.
What to try when the DPF light shows
Not the unit, always. Opening thing to say. A diagnostic goes before any cleaning, because that same panel light has a number of likely faults behind it.
Second thing: how you drive it between now and then matters.
- A long steady run may even now do it, provided the light is amber and the car drives normally. Costs nothing, so try that before booking.
- A drive will not reach it now — limp mode means that window has now shut.
- Diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under hard acceleration — stop arranging long drives and get it looked at.
What the car has been warning you
Symptoms have usually been growing for some time before the light even appears. Belated news, in other words:
- power falling off, especially pulling uphill
- the revs no longer climb the way they always did
- fuel use going worse
- quietly, the stop/start packs in
- the cabin smelling of diesel, or smoke when you pull away
Any one of those, taken by itself, is not evidence. Next to the light, it is a fair assumption the filter is full.
Why diesel particulate filters clog near Scotland
Being a rural hamlet, Scotland produces just the use a DPF handles the poorest. Not one bit of it lasts long enough or is hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration: the school run to Westbrook Lane Primary School, Scotland Lane standing at the morning rush, a few minutes to Morrisons, the run to Horsforth. What should burn away stays behind.
Neither is far from Scotland: under 10 miles to the Inner Ring Road, under 10 miles to Leeds. Neither is on the way to anything most weeks, though, so the journey that would scour a filter hardly ever gets made.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration gives out
What limp mode comes down to is the car looking after itself. The whole problem is that a long drive works by triggering a regeneration, and under limp mode the revs will not climb and power is capped.
The usual advice — get it up the motorway — is sensible, right until it is not. In limp mode you are past that stage: a clean is what will help, not more driving.
Where the car stands is where the DPF is treated round Scotland
Most people do not expect this bit: the filter stays on. The job happens with the DPF yet fitted to the car — on your front, in a work car park, wherever the vehicle can wait for a few hours.
First a scan. Live ECU data, the soot load as a percentage and as a mass, the sensor feeds, the glow plugs, the associated parts — all of it taken before a thing is started.
After that comes the clean itself: solution in through the vehicle's own access point, expanding inside the filter and loosening what a regeneration will not. Where the filter is badly clogged, plan on a second pass.
What the clean has loosened is then driven off by a regeneration. If you are there, that is carried out as a monitored drive out of Scotland; if not, statically where the car waits, with the running data verified afterwards.
Both sets of figures are sent by email, so the figures from either end are on record. The second check is what verifies the change, clears the light and logs whatever is still showing.
When a DPF clean is not the solution
One thing is what treatment fixes — a filter choked with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- a temperature or pressure sensor flagging a blockage that is not there
- an EGR valve jammed open
- an AdBlue system fault
- glow plugs or injectors blocking the regeneration starting at all
- a turbo putting oil through the filter
Finding that out is the first check's whole job. Proving to be one of them means learning it before the work gets going, not after handing over anything.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter cut out cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is illegal, so that is no fix. What gets typed in as DPF renewal exchanges nothing: your filter is cleaned in place and goes back into service.
What DPF cleaning comes to in Scotland
A call-out charge applies whatever follows, and covers the visit, the booking fee, the scan and the advice passed on. Cleaning itself begins from £299.
Once we are told what you run, and broadly what the filter will need, the price gets fixed by phone. A single price for everyone would not be straight. A pair of things change it: what you run, and where you are — Scotland itself, over at Troy, or further out within the LS postcode area.
If the diagnostic rules a clean out, there is no charge to pay for it. You still pay that charge: someone travelled, ran the diagnostic and gave you the advice.
The clean includes a 30-day warranty covering aftercare, including an engineer heading back out to Scotland if the light comes back inside that time.
Was cleared and red engine light gone in literally just over 30 mins! So relieved to be able to drive my car again safely.
Great work from Daz cleaning the DPF and all round great advice and information. And all done at home with their door to door service.
Excellent service. Problem with DPF resolved. Advised regarding care to avoid issues in the future. Staff member very helpful and knowledgeable. Would certainly recommend this company.
What we clean, and how far we go round Scotland
The filter is cleaned on the vehicle on all of them: cars and estates, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs, construction and plant machinery, agricultural machinery. Nothing is moved anywhere.
Scotland is seldom a special trip: engineers are working Scotland Lane most weeks, and the same run covers Troy, Moor Side and the villages out past Rawdon. Call anyway from even further out across West Yorkshire. Coverage extends UK-wide, and the slot you are offered depends on the calendar rather than how far away you are.

Things Scotland drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Can I merely take it for a long drive?
- Soon enough, and with the car out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. A sustained run at motorway speed is what it takes — not fifteen minutes to Morrisons and back.
- How long does the visit run?
- Allow typically around 2 hours — severely blocked filters sometimes require a second pass, which lengthens it.
- How much does it come to across Scotland?
- A clean opens from £299, and the call-out charge on top pays for the visit, the diagnostic and the advice. We price on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both move the figure.
- Do I have to be around?
- You do not need to stand with it — the car just requires space to stand for a couple of hours. Preferring to be there is no problem: the regeneration then runs out on the move, monitored.
- How soon can someone get to Scotland?
- That hangs on the calendar, but it is often same-day or next-day. Call 0303 330 1830 and we will let you what is free across the LS area.
- The filter — does it come off the vehicle?
- It is done where it is, on the call-out service. That job — a filter off, a filter back on — is not work we do.
- The light reappears — then what?
- The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer returning to Scotland.
