Mobile DPF Cleaning in Scholes and West Yorkshire
Call-out DPF cleaning comes to the car. An engineer turns up at your door over in Scholes, cleans the diesel particulate filter while it is attached to the car, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you started with.
Nobody travels until the figure is settled by the phone. The visit takes typically around 2 hours and the clean starts from £299.
Most drivers find us with the light on already, and the car down on power. That is the situation this page is meant for.
Your DPF light is on — what then?
Not the filter, necessarily. Main thing to say. A diagnostic happens before the work, because that same dash light has several likely faults behind it.
How the vehicle is handled in the meantime matters too.
- Vehicle still driving fine on an amber light — attempt a long constant run first. It costs nothing and frequently sorts the filter without a visit.
- That window has closed once the motor has slipped into limp mode. A drive will not get there now.
- Get it looked at rather than running it — diesel in the interior, or smoke on the throttle, has gone beyond the long-run stage.
Signs the motor has been giving you
Belated news, the light. The symptoms generally mount for some time before it appears:
- falling off on power, above all uphill
- the revs no longer climb the way they once did
- fuel economy turning worse
- the stop/start quietly bowing out
- the interior reeking of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate
That is not proof on its own. The light alongside them suggests a loaded filter.
Why diesel particulate filters block around Scholes
Scholes is a village, and the day-to-day driving that belongs to one is the least kind type for a DPF. Run through a normal week: Scholes (Elmet) Primary School and home again, Green Court at a halt before nine, a five-minute run to Tesco Extra, a run to Cross Gates. Not much there runs long enough or runs hot enough to complete a regeneration. The soot that should burn away builds up instead.
Neither is a long way from Scholes: under 3 miles to the M1, under 10 miles to Leeds. Neither is on the way to anything most weeks, though, so the drive that would scour a filter hardly ever gets made.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops
The vehicle is protecting itself, which is what limp mode means. With output capped and the revs pinned, the regeneration the filter requires cannot complete at all. That counts, because starting one is just what a long run does.
The standard advice — take it up the motorway — is sensible, until it is not. Beyond that line — limp mode — driving will not be enough, and the filter needs a clean.
The motor stays put for on-site DPF cleaning round Scholes
On your front, in a work car park, wherever the car can sit for a while: the job happens with the filter still bolted on, which is the part most owners do not anticipate.
Nothing is cleaned until other faults are cleared. That means a scan first: running data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by actual weight, and a check of the sensors, glow plugs and connected components.
Then the cleaning. A solution is injected through the access point on that motor and opens out inside the filter, loosening the soot and ash a regeneration alone will never move. A second pass is sometimes called for on severely loaded filters.
Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean loosened. Either it goes as a monitored drive out of Scholes, with you along, or it runs where the vehicle waits and the live data is verified after.
A second diagnostic proves the change, clears the warning light and lists anything still open. Both reports are emailed, so you have the before and after figures on record.
The problems a DPF clean cannot cure
A filter blocked with soot and ash is the one thing cleaning cures. It will not help:
- sensors, pressure or temperature, reporting a blockage that is not real
- EGR valves that hang open
- AdBlue system failures
- a regeneration that never starts, because of glow plugs or injectors
- a turbo putting oil through the filter
Finding that out is the first diagnostic's job. You are told before the work gets going, not after you have paid, where it turns out to be one of those.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter cut out fails its MOT, and driving it is an offence, so that is no fix. What gets typed in as DPF renewal exchanges nothing: your own filter is cleaned in place and goes back into service.
The price of DPF cleaning in Scholes
A call-out charge holds whatever the outcome, and takes in the visit, the booking fee, the diagnostic and the advice given. Cleaning itself begins from £299.
Publishing a flat rate would not be truthful. We settle it by phone, once the car and its expected needs are established. The vehicle shifts it, and so does the postcode — Scholes, Arthursdale, or somewhere otherwise out in the LS postcode area.
Where the scan says a clean will not do it, you are not asked to pay for treatment. What nonetheless applies is the call-out charge, since the visit took place, the diagnostic was done and the advice was offered.
Aftercare is included by a 30-day warranty: should the light reappear within it, an engineer comes back to Scholes.
Bas was very knowledgeable and explained everything that was happening. He was very thorough. I would be happy to recommend DPF fixer to anyone experiencing the issues I was, especially when the cost of a new filter runs into the thousands of pounds.
I would highly recommend, Balazs the technicians, was very polite and just got on with the job. The engine light has gone and dpf filter cleaned. All paper work of the results and test provided, Great job.
Needed the van urgently for work, they came first thing the next day, ran a full test before and found it didn't need a clean but was the temp sensors that have failed, gave some good advise and left. Quick, pleasant and honest to deal with.
The vehicles we clean and the patch we take in round Scholes
The filter is treated where it sits on all of them: cars and estates, panel vans and light commercials, HGVs, plant and construction machinery, agricultural machinery. Nothing is carried anywhere.
Most weeks there is usually someone on Green Court, so Scholes hardly ever means a journey of its own, and Arthursdale, Stanks and the places past Sandhills come with it. Coverage runs UK-wide, so further out through West Yorkshire is still worth a ring, and what decides between today and tomorrow is the diary rather than the distance.

Questions Scholes drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough by itself?
- If you catch it early enough, and the motor is not in limp mode, sometimes. A long run at motorway speed is what it needs — not ten minutes or so to Tesco Extra and back.
- How long does the visit run?
- Reckon on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean extending that where the filter is severely loaded.
- What does it come to around Scholes?
- Treatment starts from £299, and the call-out charge on top pays for the visit, the check and the advice. We quote on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both change the figure.
- Must I be there in person?
- The motor requires a place for two hours or so. You need not be in it. The regeneration can be carried out as a supervised drive if you would rather come along.
- Can someone get to Scholes soon?
- You are looking at often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is now in the calendar. Ring 0303 330 1830 what is available across the LS area.
- Does the filter come away from the motor?
- It is done where it stands, on the call-out service. Nor does lifting a filter off nor fitting one back on is work we do.
- And if the light returns?
- Included by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer coming back to Scholes.
