Symptoms have usually been building for a while before the light ever shows. Late news, in other words:
- dropping away on power, particularly uphill
- you find the revs fall short of where they always went
- fuel economy turning worse
- silently, the stop/start packs in
- diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the gearbox
Any one of those, taken by itself, is not evidence. With the light with them, the filter is a fair bet.
Why diesel particulate filters block near Sandyford
