Mobile DPF Cleaning around Sancreed, Cornwall
With on-site DPF cleaning, we drive out to the vehicle. A fitter arrives at your door over in Sancreed, cleans the diesel particulate filter while it is still on the motor, runs a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you came with.
You'll know a figure by phone before anyone leaves, the clean starting from £299, and the visit running typically around 2 hours.
Most drivers find us with the light already on, and the motor down on power. That is the situation this page is written for.
The DPF light is on. What then?
Not the filter, always. Main thing to say. Several faults put the identical light on the identical panel, which is why a visit opens with a diagnostic rather than with treatment.
How the motor is run in the meantime counts too.
- Vehicle still driving fine on an amber light — try a long steady run first. It costs nothing at all and regularly shifts the filter without help.
- Once the motor is in limp mode, motoring will not reach it. The window has shut.
- Stop planning long drives and get it seen to if the cabin smells of diesel or there is black smoke when you press on.
The vehicle has been telling you already
By the time the light shows, things have usually been going wrong for some time. It is belated news:
- pulling uphill, the power tails off
- revs that will not climb the way they always did
- economy that is worse than before
- stop/start without a word giving up
- smoke under acceleration, or a diesel smell in the car
None of that is evidence on its own. It is a fair guess the filter is blocked once the light is on as well.
The reason diesel particulate filters choke near Sancreed
Sancreed is a rural hamlet, and the driving that goes with one is the worst kind for a DPF. A regeneration wants long enough and heat, and has none: not on the school run to St Buryan Primary School, not on Penzance Road at the morning rush, not on a few minutes to The Co-operative Food, and not on the run to Penzance. Instead of burning off, the soot builds up.
The M5 sits over 50 miles from Sancreed, Truro under 50 miles off, and unless something takes you out that way routinely, entire weeks go by without the long steady run that scours a filter. Geography does not assist.
Why limp mode stops a DPF regeneration
What limp mode comes down to is the car protecting itself. The whole problem is that a proper drive works by setting off a regeneration, and once in limp mode the revs will not climb and power is limited.
The usual advice — take it up the motorway — is sound, right until it is not. The filter wants cleaning rather than more driving once the car has slipped into limp mode.
DPF cleaning at the vehicle in Sancreed
Nothing leaves the vehicle. That surprises people. The DPF sits fixed where it is and the work goes on around it, on a drive, in a works car park, any place it can wait for two hours or so.
First a diagnostic. Live ECU data, the soot load as a proportion and as a weight, the sensor readings, the glow plugs, the connected components — all of it read before any of it is started.
A cleaning fluid after that is injected through the entry point on that motor, spreading inside the filter to free soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never move. Where the filter is severely clogged, allow for a second pass.
What the clean has loosened is then cleared by a regeneration. Ride along with the car and it turns into a monitored drive out of Sancreed. Drop it and the regeneration runs on the spot, with live data read once it is done.
A second scan confirms the change, clears the warning light and logs anything still outstanding. Both sets of figures are sent over, so you have the before and after figures to hand.
Where a clean is not the fix
Only one fault is fixed by a clean: the filter choked with ash and soot. It does nothing for:
- a pressure sensor reporting a blockage that is not there
- EGR valves that jam open
- a failure in the AdBlue system
- faulty glow plugs or injectors, so no regeneration ever starts
- a turbo passing oil through the filter
That is what the first check is for. You are told before the work begins, not after you have paid, should it turns out to be one of those.
Cutting the filter out is not a remedy: without a functioning DPF a vehicle will fail its MOT, and driving it is against the law. DPF renewal is the wording people search for, though nothing is exchanged — your original filter is cleared in place and put back into use. Two more worth knowing.
DPF cleaning prices in Sancreed
A clean opens from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it pays for the call-out, the booking, the diagnostics and the advice.
Once we are told what you drive, and about what the filter will want, the price gets fixed on the phone. A single price for every job would not be honest. Two separate things move it: what you own, and where you are — Sancreed itself, over at Brane, or otherwise out within the TR postcode area.
You are not billed for treatment that the scan says will not do it. Because the visit, the check and the advice have been done, the call-out charge even so stands.
A 30-day warranty includes aftercare on the clean, and that includes an engineer travelling back out to Sancreed if the light reappears inside the window.
Absolutely fantastic service from Daniel when he arrived to fix my car, nothing was too much trouble and he took time to explain everything to me, would highly recommend to anyone & would definitely use again. Thank you Dan for a fantastic job.

Excellent service provided by DPF Fixer. They checked the computer system and cleaned the catalytic converter. After they reset and took readings to show improvements. An excellent service provided. Would recommend this company.
Where we get to around Sancreed, and what we clean
The filter is cleaned on the vehicle on all of them: cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs, plant machinery, agricultural vehicles. Nothing is moved anywhere.
The same run that has our engineers on Penzance Road most weeks covers Sancreed, Brane, Newbridge and the places beyond Drift. It is the diary, not the distance, that picks whether it is this day or the next, and coverage runs UK-wide — so call even from even further out across Cornwall.

Questions Sancreed drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough on its own?
- It may, provided you get it early enough and limp mode has not set in. Five minutes to The Co-operative Food and back will not be enough; motorway speed, kept for some time, will.
- How long does the visit run?
- Expect typically around 2 hours — badly clogged filters sometimes take a second pass, which extends it.
- How much does it run to across Sancreed?
- Cleaning opens from £299, and the call-out charge on top pays for the visit, the check and the advice. The vehicle and your address both change the price, so we settle it on the phone.
- Is it necessary for me to be around?
- You do not need to stand with it — the car just wants a spot to wait for a couple of hours. If you would sooner come along, the regeneration can be run as a monitored drive instead.
- When can someone come to Sancreed?
- That comes down to the diary, but it is often same-day or next-day. Phone 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what is free across the TR area.
- Is the filter removed from the car?
- On the mobile service, no: the filter is cleaned in place. Neither getting a filter off nor putting one back on is work we do.
- The light comes back — then what?
- An engineer travels back out to Sancreed — the 30-day warranty covers aftercare.
