The motor has been telling you already
Symptoms have generally been mounting for a while before the light so much as shows. Belated news, in other words:
- power falling off, above all climbing uphill
- an engine whose revs will not pull as they should
- economy that is worse than it used to be
- a stop/start that has meekly bowed out
- diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the way up through the gears
That is not proof by itself. Alongside the light beside them, the filter is a fair bet.
The reason diesel particulate filters block round Ripe
For a DPF, the worst use is the type you find across a rural village such as Ripe.
