A second diagnostic proves the change, clears the warning light and notes anything still showing. Both reports are emailed over, so you keep the before and after figures to hand.
What a DPF clean will not touch
Treatment cures one thing: a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does nothing for:
- sensors, pressure or temperature, showing a blockage that is not real
- EGR valves that stick open
- a fault in the AdBlue system
- glow plugs or injectors stopping the regeneration completing whatsoever
- the turbo passing oil into the filter
Finding that out is the first check's purpose. You are let know before all work gets going, not after you have handed over, should it turns out to be one of those.
