Belated news, the light. The symptoms generally mount for weeks before it shows:
- less power, especially pulling uphill
- revs that will not pull the way they once did
- fuel use that is worse than before
- stop/start silently bowing out
- the interior stinking of diesel, or smoke when you pull away
On its own, none of that is conclusive. It is a fair assumption the filter is blocked once the light is there too.
Choked diesel particulate filters near Rhiwlas, and the cause
Rhiwlas is a rural village, and the day-to-day driving that goes with one is the worst sort for a DPF.
