Belated news, the light. The symptoms generally grow for a while before it appears:
- falling off on power, especially uphill
- the revs no longer pull the way they used to
- worse fuel economy
- a stop/start that has meekly given up
- a diesel smell in the cabin, or smoke under hard acceleration
Any one of those, taken alone, is not evidence. Alongside the light beside them, the filter is a fair assumption.
