Mobile DPF Cleaning across Rame and Cornwall
On-site DPF cleaning goes to the motor. Your car will not be taken anywhere and the filter will not budge. A technician turns up at your place across Rame, clears the diesel particulate filter fitted to the vehicle and runs a DPF regeneration.
The visit takes typically around 2 hours, the clean opens from £299, and the number is fixed on the phone before anyone sets off.
The light is showing and the motor is low on power — that is how we generally find people, and precisely what this page is about.
The DPF light is on. What next?
First thing: it is not automatically the unit. A clean is not where a visit opens. A diagnostic is — plenty of faults register as the same warning.
How the motor is run in the meantime matters too.
- Worth a go before you book anything: amber light, vehicle driving fine, just one steady run, no outlay.
- Once the motor is in limp mode, motoring will not reach it. The window has shut.
- Get it checked rather than using it — diesel in the interior, or smoke on acceleration, has gone past the long-run stage.
Before the light, what the vehicle was warning you
Late news, the light. The symptoms tend to mount for some time before it arrives:
- less power, above all going uphill
- an engine whose revs will not pull as they should
- the fuel consumption is poorer
- the stop/start silently packing in
- a diesel smell in the cabin, or smoke under the throttle
Any one of those, taken singly, is not proof. The light beside them points at a blocked filter.
What clogs diesel particulate filters around Rame
Being a rural village, Rame generates precisely the driving a DPF manages least well. A regeneration needs long enough and heat, and gets not much: not on the school run to Halwin School, not on Park Pedrek at half past eight, not on five minutes to Costcutter, and not on the run to Penryn. The soot builds up rather than burning away.
Except when you have a regular cause to drive out to the M5, over 50 miles from Rame, or across to Truro under 10 miles away, entire weeks go by without a long steady stint. Geography is against you.
Why limp mode blocks a DPF regeneration
Limp mode is the motor looking after itself. The whole catch is that a sustained drive works by starting a regeneration, and in limp mode the revs will not pull and power is held down.
Getting it up the motorway is the common advice, and it holds as far as a point. The filter wants cleaning rather than driving once the vehicle has slipped into limp mode.
On-site DPF cleaning where the vehicle stands across Rame
On your front, in a work car park, wherever the vehicle can sit for a couple of hours: the job takes place with the filter even now bolted on, which is the detail most owners do not anticipate.
Nothing is touched until other faults are cleared. That involves a scan first: live data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by weight, and a review of the sensor readings, glow plugs and related components.
A solution after that is injected through the access point on that motor, opening out inside the filter to lift soot and ash a regeneration alone will never shift. Where the filter is severely clogged, expect a second pass.
A regeneration follows, clearing what the clean has lifted. That is a monitored drive out of Rame if you are along, or a static regeneration where the motor sits, with the running data verified once done.
Then a second scan, confirming the change, resetting the warning light and logging anything still logged. Both sets of figures are emailed over, so the before and after figures are kept.
Where a clean is not the answer
Only one fault is cured by treatment: the filter choked with ash and soot. It does nothing for:
- pressure or temperature sensors flagging a restriction that is not there
- an EGR valve held open
- a fault in the AdBlue system
- a regeneration that hardly ever starts, because of glow plugs or injectors
- a turbo pushing oil through the filter
Which is why the check comes first. When one of those proves the fault, you learn of it in advance rather than once the money has left for good.
Two more worth knowing. Having the filter cut out is not a fix — a vehicle without a functioning DPF will fail its MOT and driving it is illegal. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is exchanged, your original filter is treated in place and sent back into use.
The figure for DPF cleaning around Rame
Any visit attracts a call-out charge — travelling to you, setting up the booking, running the scan and offering the advice. The clean itself starts from £299.
Quoting a flat rate would not be straight. We fix it on the phone, once the vehicle and its likely needs are known. The place you are matters as much as what you run: Rame itself, Herniss next door, or further out in the TR postcode area.
Where the scan says a clean will not do it, you are not billed for treatment. You nonetheless pay that charge: someone travelled, ran the diagnostic and offered you the advice.
A 30-day warranty covers aftercare on the work, and that includes an engineer travelling back out to Rame if the light reappears inside the time.
Quick and easy to book, arrived same day, not had an issue since the clean was complete (been a month now) - would recommend.
The tech named Nick was very professional. Had power loss/Rav/Booster sensor, block issues before cleaning. He checked, explained and cleaned the system. Makes a significant difference. Great services. Thanks a lot DPF FIXER.
Daz was a polite friendly engineer explained the process clearly. carried out the work confidently, so happy with the job so far.
The vehicles we clean and the patch we cover around Rame
Whatever it is — private car, light van, light commercial, HGV, plant, construction machinery, farm vehicle — the same call-out service applies, and the filter never leaves it.
Rame is hardly ever a special trip: our engineers are along Park Pedrek most weeks, and the same run picks up Herniss, Butteriss Gate and the places out past Carnkie. Coverage is UK-wide, so farther out across Cornwall is even so worth a phone call, and what decides between today and tomorrow is the schedule rather than the distance.

Frequent questions on DPF cleaning in Rame
- Is a long drive enough by itself?
- It may, provided you get it early and limp mode has not set in. It needs a long run at motorway speed, not five minutes to Costcutter and back.
- Does the visit take long?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a heavily blocked filter can require cleaning twice, which takes longer.
- What does it come to in Rame?
- A clean opens from £299, and the call-out charge on top pays for the visit, the check and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are change it, which is why quoting happens by phone.
- Have I need to be around?
- You do not need to stand with it — the vehicle just needs a spot to wait for a couple of hours. If you would rather come along, the regeneration can be run as a watched drive instead.
- How soon can someone get to Rame?
- You are looking at often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is now in the calendar. Ring 0303 330 1830 what is open across the TR area.
- The filter — does it leave the motor?
- Done where it stands, on this service, so no. We do not take filters off or fit them back on, either way.
- Suppose the light comes back?
- An engineer comes back out to Rame — the 30-day warranty takes in aftercare.
