Mobile DPF Cleaning covering Raggra, Highland
The vehicle remains in place — mobile DPF cleaning travels to it. A technician comes at your door across Raggra, cleans the diesel particulate filter while it is attached to the vehicle, performs a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you started with.
Reckon on the visit running typically around 2 hours. The clean begins from £299, agreed over the phone before anyone leaves.
Most drivers find us with the light showing, and the motor down on power. That is the position this page is meant for.
DPF light on? What comes next
First thing: it is not automatically the unit. That light can arise from plenty of faults, not only one, so the visit opens with a scan and not with a clean.
The use you manage in the meantime counts. That is the next thing.
- Vehicle yet driving fine on an amber light — attempt a long even run first. It costs zero and frequently sorts the filter without a visit.
- Once the car is in limp mode, driving will not shift it. The window has shut.
- Diesel smell in the cabin, or black smoke under hard acceleration — stop planning long drives and get it looked at.
Signs the motor has been showing you
The light is late news. By the time it appears, the symptoms have usually been growing for weeks:
- less power, especially climbing uphill
- the revs no longer pull the way they always did
- the fuel consumption is poorer
- a stop/start that has quietly packed in
- the car reeking of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate
That is not evidence alone. Next to the light alongside them, the filter is a fair assumption.
Blocked diesel particulate filters round Raggra, and the why
Being a coastal area, Raggra throws up just the motoring a DPF copes with least well. Run through a normal week: the local primary school and home, Yarrows Road at a halt before nine, a five-minute run to Lidl, a run to Wick. Nothing there goes on long enough or runs hot enough to complete a regeneration. Unburnt soot that should burn away collects instead.
The M90 stands over 50 miles from Raggra, Inverness over 50 miles away, and unless something takes you out that way often, whole weeks pass without the long unbroken run that clears a filter. Geography does not oblige.
The point a DPF regeneration can no longer happen
It is self-preservation: that is all limp mode means. The entire problem is that a sustained drive works by triggering a regeneration, and under limp mode the revs will not climb and power is capped.
Getting it up the motorway is the standard advice, and it stands up to a limit. The far side of that line — limp mode — road work will not do it, and the filter needs a clean.
Mobile DPF cleaning where the motor stands in Raggra
Nothing comes off the vehicle. That catches out people. The DPF remains fitted where it is and the work is done around it, on a drive, in a works car park, any place it can sit for a couple of hours.
A diagnostic goes first — real-time data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by actual weight, and a look over of the sensors, glow plugs and related hardware, so other faults are eliminated before anything is touched.
Then comes the clean itself: a cleaning solution in through the car's own access point, spreading inside the filter and lifting what a regeneration will not. Sometimes a filter is loaded enough to take doing twice.
What the clean has loosened is then cleared by a regeneration. Ride along with the car and it is done as a monitored drive out of Raggra. Leave it and the regeneration goes in place, with real-time data checked once it is done.
Both sets of figures come through by email, so the figures from either end are on record. The second check is what verifies the change, puts out the light and lists whatever is still open.
When a DPF clean is not the solution
Cleaning answers one thing: a filter choked with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- sensors, temperature or pressure, showing a restriction that is not real
- an EGR valve stuck open
- an AdBlue system problem
- failed glow plugs or injectors, so never a regeneration ever runs
- the turbo putting oil into the filter
The first scan is there for precisely that. If one of those proves the fault, you learn of it up front rather than once the money has left already.
A couple more worth bearing in mind. Having the filter cut out is not a remedy — a vehicle without a functioning DPF cannot pass its MOT and driving it is an offence. And cleaning is sometimes looked up as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your existing filter is cleared in place and sent back into use.
What DPF cleaning comes to in Raggra
The cleaning opens from £299. A call-out charge covers every visit, and takes in the call-out itself, the booking, the diagnostic and the advice that comes with it.
Publishing a flat rate would not be honest. We fix it over phone, once the vehicle and its likely needs are established. What you drive and where you are both move it: Raggra itself, over at Thrumster, or further out in the KW postcode area.
Where the scan says treatment will not do it, you are not charged for cleaning. You still pay that charge: someone came out, ran the diagnostic and passed on you the advice.
If the light returns inside that period, an engineer heads back out to Raggra — the work comes with a 30-day warranty covering aftercare.

Where we reach near Raggra, and what we clean
One on-site service covers cars and estates, vans and light commercials, HGVs, construction and plant machinery and farm vehicles, and on every one the filter is treated where it sits rather than moved anywhere.
The same round that puts technicians on Yarrows Road most weeks takes in Raggra, Thrumster, Ulbster and the spots beyond Haster. Farther out across Highland is still worth phoning about — coverage runs UK-wide, and it is the diary rather than the distance that picks between one day and the next.

Questions Raggra drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Can I just take it for a long drive?
- Early enough, and with the car out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. A long run at motorway speed is what it takes — not ten minutes flat to Lidl and back.
- Does the visit run long?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A badly loaded filter can require a second clean, which adds to that.
- How much does it cost across Raggra?
- Treatment begins from £299, and the call-out charge on top pays for the visit, the scan and the advice. We settle it on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both change the price.
- Must I be there in person?
- Nobody expects you to stand with it — the vehicle only needs a spot to sit for a couple of hours. If you would prefer to come along, the regeneration can be carried out as a monitored drive instead.
- Getting to Raggra — how soon?
- Depending on the schedule, often same-day or next-day is normal. Ring 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what is free across the KW area.
- Does the filter come off the motor?
- Done where it sits, on this service, so no. Taking a filter off or fitting one back on count as anything work we do whichever way.
- Suppose the light comes back?
- The 30-day warranty takes in aftercare, including an engineer returning to Raggra.
