What the motor has been showing you
Late news, the light. The symptoms usually mount for some time before it shows:
- tailing off on power, particularly uphill
- revs that will not climb the way they used to
- the fuel consumption is worse
- silently, the stop/start packs in
- diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the way up through the box
None of that is evidence by itself. Next to the light, it is a fair bet the filter is blocked.
Choked diesel particulate filters near Quarhouse, and the reason
For a DPF, the poorest motoring is the sort you find in a small village such as Quarhouse.
