Priddy, Somerset: Mobile DPF Cleaning
Cleaning the DPF is done at the car, not at a garage. An engineer arrives at your place across Priddy, clears the diesel particulate filter while it is fitted to the car, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you came with.
Nobody travels until the price is agreed on the phone. The visit runs typically around 2 hours and the clean begins from £299.
The light is showing and the vehicle is down on power — that is how we usually meet people, and precisely what this page covers.
What to try when the DPF light shows
It may not be the unit whatsoever. That is the first thing. A diagnostic comes before any cleaning, because that same dashboard light has several likely faults behind it.
Second thing: how you run it between now and then makes a difference.
- Amber light, motor still driving fine — a long even run can still clear it alone. Costs nothing, and worth a try before you call anything.
- A drive will not reach it now — limp mode means that window has already closed.
- Get it looked at rather than running it — diesel in the cabin, or smoke on acceleration, has gone past the long-run stage.
Before the light, what the car was telling you
The light is late news. By the time it shows, the symptoms have usually been growing for a while:
- going uphill, the power drops away
- revs that will not rise the way they once did
- consumption that is worse than it used to be
- a stop/start that has quietly packed in
- diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the way up through the gears
That is not proof alone. Alongside the light, it is a fair guess the filter is full.
What chokes diesel particulate filters round Priddy
Priddy is a rural village, and the day-to-day driving that comes with one is the worst sort for a DPF. Think about a typical week: Priddy Primary School and back, Townsend at a standstill before nine, a five-minute run to Waitrose, a run to Yatton. Not much there goes on long enough or runs hot enough to finish a regeneration. Instead of burning away, the soot builds up.
The M5 lies under 10 miles from Priddy, Wells under 5 miles away, and unless something takes you out that way regularly, entire weeks go by without the sustained run that clears a filter. Geography does not help.
DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode kills it
The vehicle is protecting itself, which is what limp mode means. A sustained drive works by triggering a regeneration, and that is precisely what limp mode blocks: power capped, revs held down, no regeneration possible.
Good advice, that motorway run — right up until the day it is not. Beyond that line — limp mode — road work will not be enough, and the filter requires treatment.
Where the motor stands is where the DPF is cleaned in Priddy
On your front, in a work car park, anywhere the car can stand for a while: the job happens with the filter still fixed on, which is the detail most owners do not expect.
A check happens first — real-time data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by actual weight, and a check of the sensor readings, glow plugs and related components, so other faults are ruled out before any of it is cleaned.
Next comes the clean itself: cleaning fluid in through the vehicle's own access point, spreading inside the filter and loosening what a regeneration never can. Sometimes a filter is blocked enough to need doing twice.
Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean lifted. Stay with the motor and it turns into a monitored drive out of Priddy. Drop it and the regeneration goes on the spot, with live data read once it is done.
Finally the check runs again — the change confirmed, the light put out, anything still outstanding logged. Both sets of figures come to you by email, so the numbers are recorded.
What a DPF clean will not touch
One thing is what treatment cures — a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does little for:
- temperature or pressure sensors reporting a blockage that is not there
- EGR valves that hang open
- a fault in the AdBlue system
- failed glow plugs or injectors, so not one regeneration ever runs
- oil working through the filter from a faulty turbo
That is what the first diagnostic is for. If one of those turns out to be the fault, you hear about it at the outset rather than once the money has gone already.
Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter cut out fails its MOT, and driving it is against the law, so that is no solution. What gets looked up as DPF renewal swaps nothing: your existing filter is cleared in place and goes back into use.
DPF cleaning costs in Priddy
A call-out charge applies whatever the outcome, and takes in the visit, the booking fee, the check and the advice passed on. The clean itself starts from £299.
Not one flat rate would be truthful, so the figure is fixed by the phone once we have the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. The place you are tells as much as what you own: Priddy itself, Holly Brook next door, or farther out within the BA postcode area.
Where the diagnostic says treatment will not do it, you are not asked to pay for a clean. The call-out charge even so stands, because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have taken place.
Aftercare is taken in by a 30-day warranty: should the light reappear within it, an engineer heads back to Priddy.
The mechanic 'Zultan' turned up, friendly and helpful, dealt with my car like a professional. I'd recommend DPF Fixer to everyone.
Zac was very helpful and friendly. Explained the process clearly and solved my issue with engine management light. Would recommend to anyone with dpf issues. 5 star from me!
Excellent service. Were able to come out the same day that I called. Both the person who answered my call and the engineer Dave were friendly and very knowledgeable about dpfs. My van has been running great since.
What we clean, and how far we go round Priddy
Whatever it is — car, van, light commercial, HGV, plant, construction machinery, farm vehicle — the very same on-site service stands, and the filter never quits it.
Priddy is seldom a special trip: technicians are along Townsend most weeks, and the same run covers Holly Brook, Westbury-sub-Mendip and the villages out past Easton. Phone anyway from even further out through Somerset. Coverage extends UK-wide, and the day you are offered hangs on the schedule rather than how far away you are.

What Priddy drivers wonder about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run sort it?
- Early enough, and with the car out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. A long run at motorway speed is what it takes — not fifteen minutes or so to Waitrose and back.
- The visit lasts how long?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A badly blocked filter can need a second clean, which lengthens that.
- The cost around Priddy — what is it?
- The call-out charge takes in the visit, the diagnostic and the advice; cleaning itself opens from £299. Quoting is done by phone, since what you run and where you sit both shift the number.
- Must I be present in person?
- The motor wants a space for two hours or so. Nobody expects you to be in it. If you would rather come along, the regeneration can be run as a watched drive instead.
- Can someone travel to Priddy soon?
- Depending on the schedule, often same-day or next-day is typical. Call 0303 330 1830 and we will let you what is free across the BA area.
- Does the filter come off the vehicle?
- Treated where it stands, on this service, so no. Nor does getting a filter off nor bolting one back on is work we do.
- Suppose the light returns?
- The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer returning to Priddy.
