Mobile DPF Cleaning covering Pont-yr-hafod, Pembrokeshire

The car stays in place — call-out DPF cleaning travels to it. Your motor is not taken anywhere and the filter doesn't come off. A fitter comes at your place in Pont-yr-hafod, cleans the diesel particulate filter still on the motor and runs a DPF regeneration.

You'll be given a figure by phone before anyone departs, the clean beginning from £299, and the visit lasting typically around 2 hours.

Most people find us with the light on already, and the motor short of power. That is exactly what this page is meant for.

The DPF light is on. What now?

First thing: it is not necessarily the filter. A check happens before all cleaning, because that same panel light has several likely faults behind it.

It counts what you get with the motor between now and the appointment.

  • Amber light, motor even now driving normally — a long even run can even now sort it by itself. Costs nothing, and worth trying before you book anything.
  • That window has gone once the motor has dropped into limp mode. Motoring will not help now.
  • Diesel smell in the cabin, or black smoke under acceleration — stop booking long drives and get it seen to.

Before the light, what the motor was showing you

By the time the light appears, things have normally been slipping for a while. It is last news:

  • going uphill, the power falls off
  • an engine whose revs will not pull like they did
  • worse fuel economy
  • stop/start without a word giving up
  • the interior reeking of diesel, or smoke when you press on

That is not proof alone. The light alongside them suggests a blocked filter.

Why diesel particulate filters choke around Pont-yr-hafod

The driving that goes with a rural village like Pont-yr-hafod is the poorest type for a DPF. Think about a normal week: the local primary school and home, Roch Road at a standstill before nine, a short hop to Morrisons, a run to Haverfordwest. Not much there lasts long enough or gets hot enough to complete a regeneration. Instead of clearing, the soot load collects.

Neither is far from Pont-yr-hafod: under 50 miles to the M4, under 10 miles to St Davids. Neither is on the way to anything most weeks, though, so the drive that would empty a filter hardly ever gets made.

The point a DPF regeneration can no longer complete

Limp mode is the vehicle protecting itself. A proper drive works by starting a regeneration, and that is precisely what limp mode blocks: power limited, revs kept low, no regeneration available.

So the common advice to run it up the motorway is good advice, up until it stops being. Beyond that line — limp mode — more driving will not be enough, and the filter requires a clean.

Where the car stands is where the DPF is cleaned round Pont-yr-hafod

Nothing comes off the car. That catches out people. The DPF stays fixed where it is and the work goes on around it, on a drive, in a works car park, any place it can sit for a couple of hours.

Nothing is touched until other faults are eliminated. That requires a diagnostic first: live data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by actual weight, and a check of the sensor readings, glow plugs and connected hardware.

A cleaning solution after that is injected through the access point on that motor, opening out inside the filter to free soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never move. Heavily loaded filters sometimes need a second pass.

Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean freed. Either it goes as a monitored drive out of Pont-yr-hafod, with you present, or it runs where the car waits and the real-time data is checked after.

Both sets of figures come through by email, so the figures from either end are on record. The second diagnostic is what proves the change, puts out the light and logs whatever is still open.

The failures a DPF clean cannot fix

Only one fault is cured by a clean: the filter choked with ash and soot. It does no good for:

  • the wrong reading from a temperature sensor
  • EGR valves that hang open
  • a problem in the AdBlue system
  • faulty glow plugs or injectors, so not one regeneration ever runs
  • a turbo pushing oil through the filter

Finding that out is the first scan's whole job. If it turns out to be one of those, you are warned before any work starts rather than after you have handed over anything.

DPF renewal is what people look up, but no part is replaced: the filter you already own is treated where it sits and sent back into service. Nor is having it hollowed out a solution, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes unlawful. Two more things worth knowing.

Prices for DPF cleaning in Pont-yr-hafod

Each visit attracts a call-out charge — getting to you, taking the booking, running the diagnostic and passing on the advice. The clean itself opens from £299.

Once we know what you drive, and broadly what the filter will take, the figure gets fixed over phone. A single price for all would not be truthful. Two things change it: what you run, and where you are — Pont-yr-hafod itself, over at Ffynnon Gron, or further out within the SA postcode area.

You are not asked to pay for a clean that the diagnostic says will not help. Because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have happened, the call-out charge even so holds.

Aftercare is covered by a 30-day warranty: should the light reappear within it, an engineer heads back to Pont-yr-hafod.

From my desperate phonecall to Zolton showing up was about 1 hour!! The service was quick, friendly and efficient. Zolton clearly has a passion for cars which shone through. He was a really nice guy and explained each step well. The result is a success.

Things Pont-yr-hafod drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Does a long run sort it?
Soon enough, and with the vehicle out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. A sustained run at motorway speed is what it wants — not five minutes flat to Morrisons and back.
The visit lasts how long?
That is typically around 2 hours, though a severely blocked filter can take cleaning twice, which adds time.
Price around Pont-yr-hafod — what is it?
The call-out charge takes in the visit, the check and the advice; the clean itself opens from £299. The vehicle and your address both move the number, so we price on the phone.
Is it essential for me to be present?
Nobody expects you to stand with it — the vehicle simply needs somewhere to stand for a couple of hours. Choosing to be there is no problem: the regeneration then is done out on the road, monitored.
Can someone get to Pont-yr-hafod soon?
It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is currently in the diary. One call to 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what the SA area has free.
Will the filter be lifted off?
It is done where it stands, on the on-site service. Neither lifting a filter off nor fitting one back on is work we do.
Suppose the light comes back?
Aftercare sits inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer returning to Pont-yr-hafod.
