By the time the light appears, things have generally been deteriorating for weeks. It is last news:
- going uphill, the power drops away
- an engine whose revs will not rise as they should
- the fuel economy is down
- a stop/start that has silently bowed out
- diesel in the car, or smoke on the way up through the gears
None of that is proof alone. With the light beside them, the filter is a fair bet.
Why diesel particulate filters block around Penrhos
