Mobile DPF Cleaner

Mobile DPF Cleaning across Pen-y-bryn and Pembrokeshire

Sorting the DPF takes place at the car, not at a workshop. Your vehicle isn't taken anywhere and the filter does not budge. An engineer turns up at your place in Pen-y-bryn, treats the diesel particulate filter on the vehicle and runs a DPF regeneration.

You'll know a figure by phone before anyone goes, the clean starting from £299, and the visit lasting typically around 2 hours.

The light is already on and the motor is down on power — that is how we generally come across people, and what this page is about.

The DPF light is on. What then?

First thing: it is not necessarily the unit. A diagnostic happens before any cleaning, because that same panel light has a number of candidate faults behind it.

It matters what you get with the motor between now and the booking.

  • Amber light, motor even now driving normally — a long even run can still shift it alone. Costs nothing at all, and worth a try before you book anything.
  • A drive will not shift it now — limp mode means that window has now gone.
  • Get it checked rather than driving it — diesel in the car, or smoke on hard acceleration, has gone beyond the long-run stage.

Signs the car has been showing you

By the time the light shows, things have generally been deteriorating for a while. It is last news:

  • less power, above all climbing uphill
  • you notice the revs stop short of where they used to go
  • fuel use getting worse
  • a stop/start that has quietly bowed out
  • a diesel smell in the car, or smoke under the throttle

None of that is conclusive alone. Next to the light beside them, the filter is a fair bet.

Why diesel particulate filters clog near Pen-y-bryn

Pen-y-bryn is a village, and the motoring that goes with one is the worst kind for a DPF. A regeneration needs the time and heat, and has neither: not on the school run to the local primary school, not on Feidr Fawr at half eight, not on a few minutes to Aldi, and not on the run to the nearest station. What should burn away stays put.

Neither is far from Pen-y-bryn: under 50 miles to the M4, under 50 miles to St Davids. Neither is on the way to anything most weeks, though, so the drive that would scour a filter hardly ever gets made.

Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration gives out

Limp mode is the vehicle protecting itself. The whole problem is that a proper drive works by setting off a regeneration, and in limp mode the revs will not climb and power is capped.

Running it up the motorway is the usual advice, and it stands up to a line. In limp mode you are past that stage: treatment is what will do it, not more miles.

DPF cleaning for a blocked filter in Pen-y-bryn, Pembrokeshire

Call-out DPF cleaning where the motor stands across Pen-y-bryn

The filter does not leave it. That is the part most people do not see coming: the job is done with the DPF still bolted to the motor, on your drive, in a work car park, anywhere the vehicle can wait for a couple of hours.

First a diagnostic. Real-time ECU data, the soot load as a percentage and as a mass, the sensors, the glow plugs, the associated components — all of it taken before a thing is started.

Next comes the clean itself: a cleaning solution in through the car's own entry point, expanding inside the filter and freeing what a regeneration cannot. Sometimes a filter is blocked enough to require doing twice.

What the clean has loosened is then cleared by a regeneration. That is a monitored drive out of Pen-y-bryn if you are present, or a static regeneration where the car sits, with the running data verified afterwards.

Finally the scan runs again — the change confirmed, the light put out, anything still outstanding noted. Both reports come to you by email, so the numbers are recorded.

Where a clean is not the solution

One thing is what treatment cures — a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does no good for:

  • a pressure or temperature sensor flagging a block that is not there
  • an EGR valve held open
  • an AdBlue system failure
  • injectors or glow plugs that prevent a regeneration starting at all
  • oil coming through the filter from a faulty turbo

Finding that out is the first check's whole job. Where it is found to be one of those, you are told before any work begins rather than after you have settled up for it.

Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter gutted cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is illegal, so that is no fix. What gets searched for as DPF renewal swaps nothing: your filter is cleaned in place and goes back into work.

Costs for DPF cleaning around Pen-y-bryn

Any visit attracts a call-out charge — getting to you, setting up the booking, carrying out the scan and giving the advice. The clean itself begins from £299.

The figure is settled on the phone, once we have the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. No flat rate could be truthful. What you run and where you are both move it: Pen-y-bryn itself, out at Cwm Plysgog, or otherwise out in the SA postcode area.

Where the check says treatment will not do it, you are not asked to pay for a clean. What still applies is the call-out charge, since the visit was made, the scan was carried out and the advice was given.

Aftercare is included by a 30-day warranty: should the light reappear within it, an engineer comes back to Pen-y-bryn.

The vehicles we clean and the area we reach near Pen-y-bryn

The filter is done where it sits on all of them: private cars, panel vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, construction and plant machinery, agricultural vehicles. Nothing is moved anywhere.

Nearly every week there is usually someone on Feidr Fawr, so Pen-y-bryn hardly ever means a journey of its own, and Cwm Plysgog, Cnwcau and the villages past Cilgerran are on the way. It is the schedule, not the distance, that decides whether it is today or tomorrow, and coverage runs UK-wide — so phone still from further out around Pembrokeshire.

Frequent questions on DPF cleaning in Pen-y-bryn

Will a long drive shift it?
It can, provided you get it early enough and limp mode has not set in. A long run at motorway speed is what it wants — not ten minutes to Aldi and back.
The visit takes how long?
Bank on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean lengthening that where the filter is heavily loaded.
Across Pen-y-bryn, what does it come to?
Beginning from £299, with a charge for travelling that takes in the check and advice on what to do next. The vehicle and your address both move the figure, so we price on the phone.
Must I be present in person?
No. The car needs space to wait for a couple of hours; you need not stand with it. If you would prefer to come along, the regeneration can be done as a supervised drive instead.
How soon can someone come to Pen-y-bryn?
It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is already in the calendar. Ring 0303 330 1830 and we will say to you what is free across the SA area.
Will the filter be lifted off?
It is treated where it is, on the on-site service. Nor does taking a filter off nor bolting one back on is work we do.
And if the light returns?
Aftercare falls inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer heading back to Pen-y-bryn.
