Mobile DPF Cleaning across Parkmill and Swansea

With on-site DPF cleaning, we come to the vehicle. No body shop, no filter leaving. A fitter travels to your place across Parkmill, cleans the diesel particulate filter as it sits, performs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you came with.

Allow for the visit taking typically around 2 hours. The clean opens from £299, agreed over the phone before anyone leaves.

Most owners find us with the light on already, and the car short of power. That is the situation this page is written for.

The DPF light is on. What now?

It could not be the filter at all. That is the main thing. Cleaning is not where a visit begins. A check is — plenty of faults show up as the same light.

Second thing: how you drive it between now and then matters.

  • Vehicle still driving normally on an amber light — try a long steady run first. It costs nothing and often sorts the filter without a visit.
  • That window has shut once the car has dropped into limp mode. Driving will not do it now.
  • A diesel smell in there, or black smoke under hard acceleration, is the point to stop booking long drives and ring.

What the motor has been telling you

Symptoms have generally been mounting for a while before the light ever arrives. Late news, in other words:

  • pulling uphill, the power tails off
  • you find the revs fall short of where they always went
  • worse fuel consumption
  • stop/start without a word packing in
  • smoke under hard acceleration, or a diesel smell in the car

None of that is proof by itself. Alongside the light alongside them, the filter is a fair assumption.

The explanation diesel particulate filters block near Parkmill

Being a coastal village, Parkmill produces exactly the driving a DPF handles worst. Nothing of it runs long enough or is hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to the local primary school, A4118 standing at half past eight, five minutes to Co-op Food, the dash to Gowerton. What should burn off remains.

The map does not assist either. The M4 is under 10 miles from Parkmill and Swansea is under 10 miles away, so unless something pulls you out that way often, weeks slip past without the sustained run that could scour the filter by itself.

The moment a DPF regeneration can no longer run

The vehicle is looking after itself, which is what limp mode amounts to. With pulling power capped and the revs pinned, the regeneration the filter needs will not happen at all. That counts, because setting off one is just what a long run does.

Getting it up the motorway is the standard advice, and it works up to a point. Once the motor is in limp mode you are beyond that point, and the filter requires a clean rather than more driving.

Cleaning a clogged diesel particulate filter in Parkmill, Swansea

The motor stays put for on-site DPF cleaning round Parkmill

Most people do not anticipate this part: the filter remains. The job takes place with the DPF yet fitted to the motor — on your drive, in a work car park, wherever the motor can stand for a couple of hours.

The ECU is taken first, giving soot load by proportion and by actual weight, along with a check of sensor feeds, glow plugs and connected parts, so nothing is touched while another fault is still possible.

After that comes the clean itself: cleaning fluid in through the motor's own access point, spreading inside the filter and freeing what a regeneration will not. Sometimes a filter is clogged enough to require doing twice.

A regeneration comes next, burning off what the clean has lifted. If you are there, that is done as a monitored drive out of Parkmill; if not, in place where the car sits, with the running data read after.

Finally the scan runs again — the change confirmed, the light reset, anything still showing noted. Both sets of figures come to you by email, so the numbers are kept.

The failures a DPF clean cannot answer

A filter choked with soot and ash is the one thing cleaning answers. It will not touch:

  • the wrong signal from a temperature or pressure sensor
  • EGR valves that hang open
  • a failure in the AdBlue system
  • injectors or glow plugs that prevent a regeneration completing in the first place
  • oil passing through the filter from a failing turbo

Finding that out is the first check's job. If it is found to be one of those, you are told before any work begins rather than after you have settled up a penny.

Two more worth noting. Getting the filter hollowed out is not a remedy — a vehicle without a serviceable DPF will fail its MOT and driving it is an offence. And cleaning is sometimes described as DPF renewal: nothing is swapped, your existing filter is cleared in place and returned into use.

The figure for DPF cleaning across Parkmill

Any visit carries a call-out charge — getting to you, taking the booking, doing the diagnostic and giving the advice. The clean itself starts from £299.

No single flat rate would be straight, so the number is settled by the phone once we know the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. What you own and where you are both move it: Parkmill itself, across at Ilston, or further out in the SA postcode area.

You are not billed for cleaning that the check says will not work. What nonetheless stands is the call-out charge, since the visit happened, the diagnostic was carried out and the advice was given.

Aftercare is included by a 30-day warranty: should the light reappear within it, an engineer returns to Parkmill.

Igor came out and spotted the issue as soon as he lifted the bonnet, lovely knowledgeable lad. Couldn't fault the company in any way. Booking was efficient, phone call to say when arriving, aftercare brilliant too.

Called to get DPf cleaned came out next day, very friendly and helpful did a good job, thanks Dave. Will definitely recommend and use again.

Excellent service from mobile DPF cleaner. Booked around lunchtime, then a same day service, albeit quite late in the evening by the time the mechanic arrived! However, he got the job done, and advised me of what else was needed to ensure that I didn't have any recurrence.

The vehicles we clean and the area we take in near Parkmill

One call-out service takes in cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, construction and plant machinery and agricultural vehicles, and on every one the filter is done on the vehicle rather than carried anywhere.

The same round that has technicians on A4118 most weeks picks up Parkmill, Ilston, Penmaen and the spots beyond Southgate. Coverage is UK-wide, so farther out across Swansea is still worth a call, and what decides between today and tomorrow is the schedule rather than the distance.

Frequent questions on DPF cleaning around Parkmill

Will a long drive shift it?
If you spot it early, and the car is not in limp mode, sometimes. A steady run at motorway speed is what it needs — not fifteen minutes flat to Co-op Food and back.
About how long does it last?
It is typically around 2 hours. A heavily clogged filter can need a second clean, which lengthens that.
How much does it cost in Parkmill?
It starts from £299, plus the call-out charge paying for the visit, the check and the advice. The vehicle and your address both move the number, so we price on the phone.
Do I have to be around?
No. The motor needs a spot to stand for a couple of hours; nobody expects you to stand with it. If you would sooner come along, the regeneration can be done as a monitored drive instead.
How soon can someone come to Parkmill?
That depends on the diary, but it is often same-day or next-day. Phone 0303 330 1830 and we will let you what is open across the SA area.
The filter — does it leave the motor?
On the mobile service, no: the filter is done in place. Taking a filter off or bolting one back on count as anything something we do either way.
And if the light comes back?
Aftercare sits inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer returning to Parkmill.
