Mobile DPF Cleaning around Parkfield and Gloucestershire

The vehicle remains put — call-out DPF cleaning travels to it. The engineer arrives at your address in Parkfield and sets up. The diesel particulate filter is cleaned still on the vehicle, a DPF regeneration follows, and you end up with the filter you came with.

Nobody sets off until the price is fixed on the phone. The visit lasts typically around 2 hours and the clean starts from £299.

Most people find us with the light showing, and the motor short of power. That is the position this page is meant for.

What to try when the DPF light is on

It may not be the filter at all. That is the opening thing. Several faults put the very same light on the very same panel, which is why a visit begins with a diagnostic rather than with cleaning.

Second thing: how you drive it between now and then counts.

  • A long steady run may yet be enough, provided the light is amber and the motor drives as normal. Costs nothing, so try that before booking.
  • Once the vehicle is in limp mode, motoring will not reach it. The window has closed.
  • Get it checked rather than driving it — diesel in the interior, or smoke on hard acceleration, has gone beyond the long-run stage.

Before the light, what the motor was showing you

By the time the light shows, things have usually been going wrong for a while. It is last news:

  • less power, particularly climbing uphill
  • you notice the revs never reach where they always went
  • consumption that is worse than it used to be
  • the stop/start silently packing in
  • a diesel smell in the cabin, or smoke under the throttle

None of that is evidence by itself. With the light, it is a fair bet the filter is full.

Why diesel particulate filters clog around Parkfield

For a DPF, the poorest driving is the type you find around a village such as Parkfield. Not one bit of it lasts long enough or runs hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration: the school run to Pucklechurch CofE VC Primary School, Parkfield Rank barely moving at half eight, five minutes to Sainsbury's, the run to Yate. Instead of burning away, the soot builds up.

The M4 lies under a mile from Parkfield, Bristol under 10 miles out, and unless something pulls you out that way often, entire weeks slip past without the sustained run that empties a DPF. Geography does not assist.

Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration gives out

The motor is looking after itself, which is what limp mode is. A proper drive works by starting a regeneration, and that is exactly what limp mode blocks: power held down, revs kept low, no regeneration possible.

So the standard advice to take it up the motorway is good advice, up until it stops being. The filter wants a clean rather than more driving once the motor has slipped into limp mode.

The motor stays put for on-site DPF cleaning across Parkfield

The filter does not come off. That is the bit most drivers do not expect: the job takes place with the DPF still bolted to the vehicle, on your front, in a work car park, anywhere the vehicle can sit for a couple of hours.

Nothing is started until other faults are cleared. That requires a check first: running data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by mass, and a review of the sensors, glow plugs and related hardware.

A cleaning fluid next is injected through the access port on that car, spreading inside the filter to lift soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never budge. Badly blocked filters sometimes require a second pass.

A regeneration comes next, burning off what the clean has freed. Either it goes as a monitored drive out of Parkfield, with you there, or it goes where the vehicle waits and the real-time data is checked after.

Finally the scan runs again — the change proven, the light cleared, anything still showing noted. Both reports reach you by email, so the numbers are recorded.

The failures a DPF clean cannot cure

A filter blocked with soot and ash is the one thing cleaning fixes. It will not touch:

  • sensors, pressure or temperature, reporting a restriction that is not real
  • EGR valves that hang open
  • a failure in the AdBlue system
  • a regeneration that never starts, because of glow plugs or injectors
  • turbo failure, with oil reaching the filter

That is what the first scan is for. If it is found to be one of those, you are let know before any work starts rather than after you have settled up anything.

Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter gutted will fail its MOT, and driving it is illegal, so that is no remedy. What gets typed in as DPF renewal exchanges nothing: your own filter is treated in place and goes back into work.

What DPF cleaning costs around Parkfield

A clean opens from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it pays for the call-out, the booking, the scans and the advice.

Publishing a flat rate would not be truthful. We settle it on the phone, once the motor and its probable needs are established. What you run and where you are both shift it: Parkfield itself, across at Siston, or further out within the BS postcode area.

Where the diagnostic says treatment will not help, you are not billed for cleaning. You still pay that charge: someone came out, did the scan and offered you the advice.

The clean includes a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare, including an engineer coming back out to Parkfield if the light reappears inside that period.

A vehicle having its DPF treated across Parkfield

The service was very prompt, courteous and efficient, and the car is now running better than it has for ages. The engineer, Liam, was professional and very helpful, filling me in on the details of what was done clearly and concisely. I can thoroughly recommend the company.

Christopher B.

Came to my place of work which helped. Very courteous & friendly engineer. A bit pricey I thought for an hour and half work at £450, but I had to get it done.

Tim H.

Excellent service from Daz Burrows from DPF fixer. Very thorough and care taken to give a full and clear explanation of any problems. Definitely worth the cost for giving me peace of mind.

What we clean, and how far we travel round Parkfield

Whatever it is — estate, panel van, light commercial, HGV, plant, construction machinery, agricultural vehicle — the very same mobile service stands, and the filter never quits it.

Parkfield is rarely a special trip: our engineers are out on Parkfield Rank nearly every week, and the same run covers Siston, Henfield and the spots out past Pucklechurch. Phone anyway from further out across Gloucestershire. Coverage runs UK-wide, and the date you are offered comes down to the calendar rather than how far away you are.

Questions Parkfield drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Is a long drive enough on its own?
Early enough, and with the vehicle out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. A steady run at motorway speed is what it takes — not ten minutes to Sainsbury's and back.
The visit lasts how long?
Bank on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean adding to that where the filter is heavily clogged.
How much does it come to across Parkfield?
The call-out charge takes in the visit, the scan and the advice; cleaning itself opens from £299. We quote on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both shift the price.
Must I be present in person?
You need not stand with it — the car simply needs somewhere to stand for a couple of hours. If you would rather come along, the regeneration can be carried out as a watched drive instead.
Travelling to Parkfield — how soon?
You are looking at often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is currently in the schedule. Call 0303 330 1830 and we will tell you what is open across the BS area.
Is the filter removed from the car?
On the on-site service, no: the filter is cleaned in place. Nor does taking a filter off nor bolting one back on is work we do.
The light reappears — then what?
The 30-day warranty includes aftercare, including an engineer coming back to Parkfield.
