Mobile DPF Cleaning covering Park Street, Hertfordshire
With on-site DPF cleaning, we travel to the motor. Your vehicle is not taken anywhere and the filter doesn't leave it. An engineer comes at your door in Park Street, cleans the diesel particulate filter fitted to the motor and runs a DPF regeneration.
Nobody travels until the figure is fixed over the phone. The visit runs typically around 2 hours and the clean starts from £299.
Most owners find us with the light on already, and the vehicle low on power. That is exactly what this page is meant for.
The DPF light is on. What then?
It may not be the unit whatsoever. That is the first thing. Cleaning is not where a visit starts. A check is — several faults register as the same light.
It matters what you do with the motor between now and the booking.
- Worth a try before you book anything: amber light, vehicle driving fine, just one constant run, no cost.
- Motor already gone into limp mode — that window has closed. A drive will not reach it now.
- Get it checked rather than running it — diesel in the cabin, or smoke on hard acceleration, has gone beyond the long-run stage.
The car has been showing you already
By the time the light shows, things have normally been going wrong for some time. It is belated news:
- less power, particularly climbing uphill
- the revs no longer climb the way they used to
- worse fuel use
- stop/start quietly giving up
- smoke under hard acceleration, or a diesel smell in there
By itself, none of that is proof. It is a fair assumption the filter is full once the light is there too.
The cause diesel particulate filters choke near Park Street
Park Street is a village, and the driving that goes with one is the poorest kind for a DPF. None of it goes on long enough or is hot enough for the filter to complete a regeneration: the school run to Park Street Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School, Burydell Lane barely moving at the morning rush, five minutes to Co-op Food, the dash to the nearest station. What should burn away stays put.
Where you sit does not help either. The M25 is under a mile from Park Street and St Albans is under 3 miles away, so unless something pulls you out that way routinely, weeks slip past without the long unbroken run that might clear the filter on its own.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration gives out
The motor is protecting itself, which is what limp mode is. A long drive works by triggering a regeneration, and that is exactly what limp mode blocks: power capped, revs held down, no regeneration on offer.
Good advice, that motorway run — up until the day it is not. In limp mode you are the far side of that point: a clean is what will help, not more miles.
DPF cleaning at the vehicle in Park Street
The filter does not budge. That is the part most people do not anticipate: the job happens with the DPF even now fitted to the motor, on your driveway, in a work car park, anywhere the motor can stand for a few hours.
A diagnostic goes first — running data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by weight, and a look over of the sensor feeds, glow plugs and related components, so other faults are eliminated before a thing is cleaned.
Next comes the clean itself: cleaning fluid in through the motor's own access port, expanding inside the filter and lifting what a regeneration will not. Sometimes a filter is clogged enough to need doing twice.
What the clean has loosened is then driven off by a regeneration. Come with the motor and it turns into a monitored drive out of Park Street. Drop it and the regeneration goes in place, with running data read once it is done.
Finally the diagnostic runs again — the change confirmed, the light put out, anything still open noted. Both reports come to you by email, so the numbers are recorded.
The problems a DPF clean cannot fix
One thing is what treatment cures — a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- a pressure or temperature sensor flagging a block that is not there
- a jammed EGR valve
- the AdBlue system going wrong
- glow plugs or injectors blocking the regeneration running at all
- oil passing through the filter from a failing turbo
The first scan is there for exactly that. Transpiring to be one of them means finding out it before any work gets going, not after handing over a penny.
Cutting the filter out is not a fix: without a functioning DPF a vehicle cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is illegal. DPF renewal is the term people type in, though nothing is replaced — your own filter is cleaned in place and sent back into use. Two more worth knowing.
The figure for DPF cleaning around Park Street
The treatment starts from £299. A call-out charge applies to every visit, and takes in the call-out itself, the booking, the diagnostic and the advice that goes with it.
No flat rate would be truthful, so the price is fixed on the phone once we know the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. The place you are tells as much as what you run: Park Street itself, Frogmore close by, or further out in the AL postcode area.
If the check writes treatment out, there is no charge to pay for it. What nonetheless holds is the call-out charge, since the visit was made, the scan was carried out and the advice was given.
Aftercare is included by a 30-day warranty: should the light return within it, an engineer heads back to Park Street.
I am very pleased with the results of my dpf clean Andras done an amazing job and was very kind and helpful highly recommend great service.
I had a DPF related emergency on Wednesday morning, by lunchtime it was sorted. The technician was knowledgeable, professional and personable. The DPF filter was cleaned, faults cleared, and the car drove brilliantly afterwards. Many thanks.
The engineer Andrea's was very efficient. Nothing was a problem. I don't think my van has driven so well since I have had it. Very pleased. Thank you.
What we clean, and how far we go round Park Street
Whatever it is — estate, panel van, light commercial, HGV, plant, construction machinery, agricultural vehicle — the one on-site service holds, and the filter never departs it.
The same run that keeps technicians on Burydell Lane most weeks picks up Park Street, Frogmore, Chiswell Green and the places beyond How Wood. Phone anyway from farther out across Hertfordshire. Coverage reaches UK-wide, and the date you are given depends on the diary rather than how far away you are.

What Park Street drivers want to know about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough by itself?
- It may, provided you get it in time and limp mode has not begun. It needs a steady run at motorway speed, not fifteen minutes to Co-op Food and back.
- How long does the visit run?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a severely blocked filter can take cleaning twice, which takes longer.
- What does it cost in Park Street?
- Opening from £299, with a charge for the call-out that pays for the check and advice on what to do next. The vehicle and your address both shift the number, so we quote on the phone.
- Have I have to be there?
- You need not stand with it — the motor only needs space to stand for a couple of hours. Choosing to be there is fine: the regeneration then runs out on the road, monitored.
- Coming to Park Street — how soon?
- Depending on the calendar, often same-day or next-day is usual. One ring to 0303 330 1830 and you will know what the AL area has available.
- Does the filter come away from the motor?
- Done where it stands, on this service, so no. Neither taking a filter off nor bolting one back on is work we do.
- The light comes back — then what?
- Aftercare sits inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer heading back to Park Street.
