Mobile DPF Cleaner

Parcllyn, Ceredigion: Mobile DPF Cleaning

With on-site DPF cleaning, we travel to the motor. No body shop, no filter coming off. A technician comes to your place over in Parcllyn, clears the diesel particulate filter where it is, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you arrived with.

Nobody sets off until the number is settled on the phone. The visit runs typically around 2 hours and the clean starts from £299.

Most people find us with the light on already, and the motor low on power. That is the position this page is aimed at.

What to check when the DPF light is on

The DPF is not always what is at fault, and that comes first. That light can arise from several faults, not just one, so the visit starts with a diagnostic and not with treatment.

How the motor is driven in the meantime matters too.

  • Amber light, motor still driving normally — a long steady run can still sort it by itself. Costs nothing at all, and worth attempting before you call anything.
  • That window has gone once the motor has fallen into limp mode. A drive will not get there now.
  • Diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under hard acceleration — stop planning long drives and get it looked at.

Signs the motor has been sending you

Symptoms have usually been mounting for a while before the light so much as appears. Belated news, in other words:

  • less power, above all going uphill
  • the revs no longer rise the way they always did
  • worse fuel use
  • without a word, the stop/start packs in
  • the cabin reeking of diesel, or smoke when you pull away

That is not evidence alone. It is a fair guess the filter is full once the light is showing too.

Why diesel particulate filters block around Parcllyn

Parcllyn is a coastal village, and the driving that goes with one is the poorest sort for a DPF. A regeneration takes long enough and heat, and gets neither: not on the school run to the local primary school, not on Erwlas at half eight, not on five minutes to Tesco, and not on the dash to the nearest station. Instead of clearing, the unburnt soot banks up.

Geography does not help either. The M4 is under 50 miles from Parcllyn and St Davids is under 50 miles away, so unless something takes you out that way regularly, whole weeks pass without the sustained run that might scour the filter on its own.

Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops

What limp mode means is the vehicle protecting itself. A proper drive works by starting a regeneration, and that is precisely what limp mode prevents: power limited, revs pinned, no regeneration available.

So the standard advice to take it up the motorway is sound advice, right until the day it is not. The filter requires cleaning rather than road work once the car has dropped into limp mode.

Nothing leaves the car. That throws people. The DPF sits fixed where it is and the work is done around it, on a forecourt, in a works car park, any place it can stand for two hours or so.

Nothing is started until other faults are ruled out. That requires a check first: real-time data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by mass, and a check of the sensor readings, glow plugs and connected components.

Soot and ash that a regeneration by itself will never shift are loosened next, by a cleaning solution fed through the access point on that vehicle, which spreads inside the filter. A second pass is sometimes needed on badly blocked filters.

A regeneration follows, burning off what the clean has freed. Either it goes as a monitored drive out of Parcllyn, with you along, or it goes where the motor sits and the live data is read afterwards.

Both read-outs go over by email, so the figures from either end are recorded. The second scan is what confirms the change, puts out the light and logs whatever is still outstanding.

The problems a DPF clean cannot cure

A clean fixes one thing: a filter choked with soot and ash. It does little for:

  • sensors, pressure or temperature, flagging a restriction that is not real
  • the EGR valve stuck open
  • AdBlue system failures
  • glow plugs or injectors blocking the regeneration starting at all
  • turbo trouble, with oil getting into the filter

The first check is there for exactly that. You are warned before any work begins, not after you have handed over, where it turns out to be one of those.

Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter cut out cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is an offence, so that is no solution. What gets searched for as DPF renewal replaces nothing: your own filter is treated in place and goes back into use.

Figures for DPF cleaning in Parcllyn

Treatment begins from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it takes in the call-out, the booking, the scans and the advice.

No flat rate would be truthful, so the number is agreed on the phone once we have the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. Where you are tells as much as what you drive: Parcllyn itself, Blaenannerch nearby, or farther out within the SA postcode area.

Where the check says a clean will not help, you are not billed for cleaning. You nonetheless pay that charge: someone travelled, carried out the scan and gave you the advice.

The job comes with a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare, including an engineer travelling back out to Parcllyn if the light reappears inside that period.

Daniel was excellent. He carried out the work efficiently and professionally. Diagnosed the fault and sorted it out. Thank you Daniel.

James L.

Mechanic who did the dpf cleaning was really good at his job, explained everything he was doing and gave me some pointers on keeping the dpf cleaner for longer. It is pricey but cheaper than replacing the dpf.

The vehicles we clean and the ground we take in near Parcllyn

A single call-out service takes in cars and estates, panel vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, plant machinery and agricultural vehicles, and on every one the filter is treated on the vehicle rather than taken anywhere.

The same trip that has engineers on Erwlas most weeks picks up Parcllyn, Blaenannerch, Felinwynt and the villages beyond Aberporth. Farther out through Ceredigion is still worth ringing about — coverage reaches UK-wide, and it is the calendar rather than the distance that picks between this day and the next.

Things Parcllyn drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Can I merely take it for a long drive?
Quickly enough, and with the vehicle out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. That means motorway speed for a steady spell, rather than a quick trip to Tesco.
Roughly how long does it run?
That is typically around 2 hours, though a badly blocked filter can require cleaning twice, which runs on.
Price in Parcllyn — what is it?
The call-out charge takes in the visit, the check and the advice; treatment itself starts from £299. We quote on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both shift the figure.
Must I be present in person?
Somewhere for the car to wait, for a couple of hours, is all that is needed. Not you. Wanting to be there is welcome: the regeneration then goes out on the move, monitored.
When can someone come to Parcllyn?
That hangs on the calendar, but it is often same-day or next-day. Ring 0303 330 1830 and we will say to you what is available across the SA area.
Is the filter removed from the car?
On the call-out service, no: the filter is cleaned in place. And neither does taking a filter off nor putting one back on is work we do.
The light returns — then what?
Covered by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer heading back to Parcllyn.
