Mobile DPF Cleaning around Oxlease, Hertfordshire
Mobile DPF cleaning travels to the motor. No garage, no filter going anywhere. An engineer comes to your place over in Oxlease, clears the diesel particulate filter where it is, performs a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you started with.
Allow for the visit taking typically around 2 hours. The clean begins from £299, fixed over the phone before anyone sets off.
The light is on already and the car is low on power — that is how we generally find people, and roughly what this page deals with.
DPF light on? What to do
Not the DPF, always. First thing to say. A scan goes before any cleaning, because that same panel light has a number of candidate faults behind it.
Second thing: how you run it between now and then counts.
- A long steady run may yet be enough, provided the light is amber and the motor drives normally. Costs nothing, so have a go at that before booking.
- That window has closed once the motor has slipped into limp mode. Driving will not help now.
- Stop booking long drives and get it seen to if the interior stinks of diesel or there is black smoke when you pull away.
Signs the vehicle has been showing you
Late news, the light. The symptoms generally grow for a while before it appears:
- power falling off, especially going uphill
- the revs no longer rise the way they once did
- fuel use that is worse than before
- stop/start silently bowing out
- the car reeking of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate
That is not conclusive alone. The light with them suggests a full filter.
Blocked diesel particulate filters around Oxlease, and the reason
Being a residential suburb, Oxlease produces just the use a DPF handles the poorest. A regeneration takes time and heat, and gets not much: not on the school run to Oak View Primary and Nursery School, not on Travellers Lane at half eight, not on five minutes to Asda, and not on the hop to Hatfield. Instead of clearing, the unburnt soot collects.
Neither is far from Oxlease: under a mile to the A1(M), under 5 miles to St Albans. Neither is on the way to much most weeks, though, so the journey that would empty a filter hardly ever happens.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration gives out
It is self-protection: that is all limp mode is. A sustained drive works by starting a regeneration, and that is precisely what limp mode blocks: power capped, revs held down, no regeneration possible.
The standard advice — take it up the motorway — is sound, up until it is not. The far side of that stage — limp mode — more driving will not be enough, and the filter needs cleaning.
DPF cleaning at the motor across Oxlease
The filter does not come off. That is the detail most owners do not see coming: the job happens with the DPF yet fitted to the car, on your drive, in a work car park, any place the car can stand for a few hours.
A scan happens first — running data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by mass, and a review of the sensor readings, glow plugs and related hardware, so other faults are eliminated before a thing is cleaned.
A solution after that goes in through the access port on that car, opening out inside the filter to free soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never budge. Where the filter is severely loaded, plan on a second pass.
Then a regeneration, to clear what the clean has loosened. That is a monitored drive out of Oxlease if you are there, or a static regeneration where the motor waits, with the live data read afterwards.
Then a second scan, verifying the change, putting out the warning light and listing anything still logged. Both sets of figures are emailed over, so the before and after figures are kept.
When a DPF clean is not the solution
One thing is what a clean cures — a filter choked with soot and ash. It does nothing for:
- the wrong figure from a temperature or pressure sensor
- a stuck-open EGR valve
- AdBlue system failures
- a regeneration that never completes, because of glow plugs or injectors
- oil working through the filter from a faulty turbo
Finding that out is the first scan's purpose. When it turns out to be one of those, you are told before any work gets going rather than after you have settled up for it.
Two things more worth bearing in mind. Getting the filter hollowed out is not a remedy — a vehicle without a functioning DPF cannot pass its MOT and driving it is an offence. And cleaning is sometimes searched for as DPF renewal: nothing is replaced, your own filter is cleaned in place and returned into use.
What DPF cleaning runs to across Oxlease
The clean begins from £299. A call-out charge covers every visit, and pays for the call-out itself, the booking, the scan and the advice that goes with it.
Once we know what you drive, and about what the filter will take, the price gets settled by phone. A single price for everyone would not be truthful. Where you are matters as much as what you own: Oxlease itself, Old Hatfield nearby, or further out within the AL postcode area.
You are not billed for a clean that the check says will not work. You nonetheless pay that charge: someone came out, did the check and gave you the advice.
A 30-day warranty covers aftercare on the job, and that includes an engineer travelling back out to Oxlease if the light comes back inside the window.
Logan fixed my problem quickly and efficiently. I was very impressed with him and DPF Fixer. I will recommend the company in future.
Thomas was great, explained everything to me so I understood and got my car back on the road. Really informative and gave good advice.
Engineer did a analysis check, found system was clean. He found the that the sensors needed resetting so no extra charge. Happy to recommend this service.
Vehicles we clean, and where we travel around Oxlease
A single on-site service takes in cars and estates, panel vans and light commercials, heavy goods vehicles, plant and construction machinery and agricultural machinery, and on every one the filter is done where it sits rather than moved anywhere.
Oxlease is rarely a special trip: engineers are out on Travellers Lane nearly every week, and the same run picks up Old Hatfield, Nast Hyde and the villages out past Hatfield. Coverage is UK-wide, so even further out around Hertfordshire is nonetheless worth a call, and what picks between today and tomorrow is the schedule rather than the distance.

Questions Oxlease drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive sort it?
- Sometimes, if you spot it early and the vehicle has not slipped into limp mode. Fifteen minutes to Asda and back will not do it; motorway speed, held for a while, will.
- About how long does it run?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a severely clogged filter can require cleaning twice, which adds time.
- Price across Oxlease — what is it?
- Beginning from £299, with a charge for travelling that covers the diagnostic and advice on what to do next. The vehicle and your address both move the number, so we settle it on the phone.
- Have I need to be present?
- Somewhere for the vehicle to wait, for a couple of hours, is all that is wanted. Not you. Ride along if you would rather, and the regeneration turns into a supervised drive.
- Can someone come to Oxlease soon?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is currently in the calendar. Ask 0303 330 1830 what is free across the AL area.
- Does the filter come away from the motor?
- Not on the on-site service — it is cleaned where it sits. And neither does getting a filter off nor bolting one back on is work we do.
- What if the light returns?
- The 30-day warranty takes in aftercare, including an engineer returning to Oxlease.
