Oxclose, Tyne and Wear: Mobile DPF Cleaning

On-site DPF cleaning goes to the motor. No body shop, no filter going anywhere. A technician drives out to your address across Oxclose, clears the diesel particulate filter in place, runs a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you arrived with.

You'll be given a figure by phone before anyone goes, the clean beginning from £299, and the visit running typically around 2 hours.

Most owners find us with the light already on, and the car short of power. That is the situation this page is meant for.

Your DPF light is on — what then?

Not the DPF, always. Opening thing to say. A clean is not where a visit starts. A diagnostic is — a number of faults register as the same signal.

Second thing: how you run it between now and then makes a difference.

  • A long steady run may still be enough, provided the light is amber and the vehicle drives normally. Costs nothing at all, so try that before booking.
  • A drive will not reach it now — limp mode means that window has already closed.
  • A diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under the throttle, is the point to stop planning long drives and book it in.

What the motor has been telling you

Symptoms have normally been mounting for some time before the light even appears. Late news, in other words:

  • falling off on power, especially uphill
  • the revs no longer climb the way they once did
  • worse fuel economy
  • a stop/start that has silently given up
  • a diesel smell in the interior, or smoke under hard acceleration

None of that is proof on its own. With the light, it is a fair assumption the filter is loaded.

Why diesel particulate filters block round Oxclose

For a DPF, the least kind motoring is the sort you meet around a residential suburb such as Oxclose. The school run to Oxclose Primary Academy, Castle Road at a standstill at half past eight, ten minutes to Asda, the dash to Chester-Le-Street — nothing of it lasts long enough or is hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration. The soot load collects rather than burning away.

The map does not oblige either. The A194(M) is under a mile from Oxclose and Newcastle upon Tyne is under 10 miles away, so unless something pulls you out that way often, whole weeks pass without the long unbroken run that might empty the filter by itself.

Why limp mode blocks a DPF regeneration

Limp mode is the car protecting itself. With output capped and the revs held, the regeneration the filter wants cannot happen at all. That matters, because triggering one is just what a sustained run does.

So the usual advice to get it up the motorway is sensible advice, up until it stops being. In limp mode you are past that line: treatment is what will do it, not more road work.

The filter does not come off. That is the bit most owners do not anticipate: the job is done with the DPF yet fitted to the car, on your drive, in a work car park, anywhere the car can stand for a few hours.

Nothing is started until other faults are ruled out. That involves a check first: live data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by weight, and a review of the sensor readings, glow plugs and connected parts.

Soot and ash that a regeneration alone will never budge are loosened next, by a cleaning fluid passed through the access point on that motor, which opens out inside the filter. Where the filter is badly clogged, plan on a second pass.

A regeneration is next, clearing what the clean has freed. If you are there, that is carried out as a monitored drive out of Oxclose; if not, statically where the car stands, with the real-time data read after.

A second scan confirms the change, resets the warning light and logs anything still showing. Both read-outs are emailed, so you keep the before and after figures recorded.

When a DPF clean is not the answer

Cleaning fixes one thing: a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does nothing for:

  • the wrong figure from a temperature or pressure sensor
  • a failed EGR valve
  • AdBlue system problems
  • a regeneration that hardly ever runs, because of glow plugs or injectors
  • the turbo pushing oil into the filter

Which is why the check happens first. Proving to be one of them means hearing it before work starts, not after settling up a penny.

DPF renewal is what people look up, but no part is exchanged: the filter you already own is cleaned where it sits and returned to use. Nor is having it gutted a fix, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes an offence. Two more things worth bearing in mind.

What DPF cleaning comes to across Oxclose

The cleaning begins from £299. A call-out charge applies to every visit, and takes in the call-out itself, the booking, the diagnostic and the advice that comes with it.

Once we know what you drive, and broadly what the filter will need, the number gets agreed over phone. A single price for all would not be straight. Whereabouts you are tells as much as what you drive: Oxclose itself, Town Centre close by, or farther out within the NE postcode area.

You are not asked to pay for cleaning that the scan says will not help. The call-out charge still applies, because the visit, the scan and the advice have been done.

The work carries a 30-day warranty including aftercare, including an engineer coming back out to Oxclose if the light returns inside that time.

Excellent service ever! They came out at a very needed time. My dpf was badly blocked and the Engineer exercised high patience with it. Great stuff!

The guys diagnosed my problem and gave advice on what next needed to be done. I followed their advice and the car is now running perfectly.

David J.

Very pleased a very quick response and. NIC was very knowledgeable and very pleasant thank you to all at DPF fix it.

What we clean, and how far we reach round Oxclose

Cars, panel vans and light commercials, HGVs, construction and plant machinery, farm vehicles — the one mobile service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is treated in place rather than carried anywhere.

Oxclose is hardly ever a special trip: our engineers are along Castle Road most weeks, and the same run covers Town Centre, Blackfell and the villages out past Washington. Further out through Tyne and Wear is even so worth phoning about — coverage reaches UK-wide, and it is the schedule rather than the distance that settles between this day and the next.

Things Oxclose drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Will a long drive sort it?
If you catch it early enough, and the motor is not in limp mode, sometimes. That means motorway speed for a long spell, rather than a brief trip to Asda.
How long does the visit last?
That is typically around 2 hours, though a heavily blocked filter can take cleaning twice, which runs on.
How much does it cost around Oxclose?
The call-out charge covers the visit, the diagnostic and the advice; treatment itself starts from £299. Pricing is done by phone, since what you drive and where you live both shift the number.
Have I have to be there?
The motor wants a spot for two hours or so. You do not need to be in it. If you would rather come along, the regeneration can be done as a watched drive instead.
Getting to Oxclose — how soon?
Depending on the calendar, often same-day or next-day is usual. Ring 0303 330 1830 and you will know what is open across the NE area.
The filter — does it leave the car?
Not on the on-site service — it is done where it stands. Nor does lifting a filter off nor bolting one back on is work we do.
Suppose the light comes back?
Covered by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer heading back to Oxclose.
