Two others worth knowing. Having the unit gutted is not a remedy — a vehicle without a serviceable DPF cannot pass its MOT and driving it is against the law. And a clean is sometimes looked up as DPF renewal: nothing is swapped, your original filter is treated in place and put back to work.

A DPF only just starting to fill will often sort itself without anyone working on it. Let it under a mile out of Over to the M5 and hold it there, or swing the long way into Bristol rather than ten more minutes to Easter Compton.
