Mobile DPF Cleaner

Ore, East Sussex: Mobile DPF Cleaning

The vehicle stays where it is — mobile DPF cleaning travels to it. The engineer turns up at your address in Ore and sets up. The diesel particulate filter is cleaned fitted to the car, a DPF regeneration comes next, and you end up with the filter you arrived with.

The visit lasts typically around 2 hours, the clean opens from £299, and the price is settled over the phone before anyone travels.

The light is showing and the car is short of power — that is how we usually find people, and roughly what this page is about.

The DPF light is on. What then?

The unit is not always what is at fault, and that comes first. Plenty of faults put the same light on the identical panel, which is why a visit begins with a diagnostic rather than with cleaning.

It counts what you manage with the motor between now and the visit.

  • A long even run may even now do it, provided the light is amber and the motor runs fine. Costs nothing at all, so attempt that before booking.
  • Once the car is in limp mode, a long run will not shift it. The window has closed.
  • Get it seen to rather than using it — diesel in the interior, or smoke on hard acceleration, has gone well past the long-run stage.

Signs the car has been sending you

Symptoms have normally been growing for some time before the light so much as arrives. Belated news, in other words:

  • less power, especially going uphill
  • you find the revs fall short of where they always went
  • economy that is worse than it used to be
  • the stop/start quietly giving up
  • the interior smelling of diesel, or smoke when you pull away

That is not conclusive by itself. It is a fair bet the filter is blocked once the light is there too.

Why diesel particulate filters choke round Ore

Being a residential suburb, Ore throws up just the motoring a DPF manages the poorest. Run through a typical week: Ore Village Primary Academy and home again, Grove Road at a standstill before the hour, a quick trip to Aldi, a run to the nearest station. Not much there runs long enough or is hot enough to see through a regeneration. Instead of burning away, the unburnt soot collects.

Neither is distant from Ore: under 25 miles to the M20, under 50 miles to Brighton and Hove. Neither is on the way to anywhere most weeks, though, so the drive that would clear a filter simply never gets made.

Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops working

The vehicle is defending itself, which is what limp mode amounts to. The whole difficulty is that a sustained drive works by setting off a regeneration, and in limp mode the revs will not climb and power is limited.

Taking it up the motorway is the usual advice, and it stands right up to a line. Beyond that point — limp mode — road work will not do it, and the filter requires a clean.

On your front, in a work car park, any place the motor can wait for a few hours: the job takes place with the filter still bolted on, which is the part most people do not expect.

First a diagnostic. Live ECU data, the soot load as a proportion and as a figure, the sensor feeds, the glow plugs, the associated components — all of it read before a thing is touched.

Then the treatment. A solution goes in through the access point on that vehicle and expands inside the filter, loosening the soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never shift. Where the filter is badly loaded, allow for a second pass.

Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean lifted. That is a monitored drive out of Ore if you are present, or a static regeneration where the car waits, with the live data verified after.

Both reports go over by email, so the figures from either end are on record. The second check is what verifies the change, resets the light and logs whatever is still open.

Where a clean is not the fix

One thing is what treatment answers — a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does little for:

  • sensors, temperature or pressure, reporting a block that is not real
  • a failed EGR valve
  • the AdBlue system failing
  • a regeneration that hardly ever runs, because of glow plugs or injectors
  • oil coming through the filter from a failing turbo

That is what the first scan is for. When one of those turns out to be the fault, you find out about it in advance rather than once the money has changed hands already.

Cutting the filter out is not a remedy: without a serviceable DPF a vehicle cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is an offence. DPF renewal is the wording people type in, though nothing is replaced — your own filter is cleared in place and sent back into use. Two more worth bearing in mind.

What DPF cleaning runs to around Ore

Treatment starts from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it takes in the call-out, the booking, the scans and the advice.

Once we are told what you own, and broadly what the filter will take, the price gets settled on the phone. A single price for everyone would not be honest. What you run and where you are both move it: Ore itself, over at Belmont, or further out across the TN postcode area.

Where the diagnostic says a clean will not work, you are not asked to pay for treatment. The call-out charge even so stands, because the visit, the scan and the advice have taken place.

If the light returns inside that period, an engineer heads back out to Ore — the work includes a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare.

The vehicles we clean and the patch we cover around Ore

Whatever it is — estate, panel van, light commercial, lorry, plant, construction machinery, farm vehicle — the one call-out service holds, and the filter never departs it.

Our engineers are along Grove Road week in week out, so Ore is seldom a journey of its own, and the same run takes in Belmont, Broomgrove and the spots out past Bachelors Bump. It is the calendar, not the distance, that picks whether it is this day or the next, and coverage extends UK-wide — so ring still from farther out through East Sussex.

Things Ore drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Will a long drive shift it?
It can, provided you spot it in time and limp mode has not arrived. A sustained run at motorway speed is what it wants — not five minutes flat to Aldi and back.
How long does the visit last?
Count on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean adding to that where the filter is heavily blocked.
What does it cost around Ore?
It begins from £299, plus the call-out charge taking in the visit, the scan and the advice. Pricing is done by phone, since what you drive and where you live both move the price.
Must I be around in person?
No. The vehicle wants a spot to stand for a couple of hours; you need not stand with it. Choosing to be there is fine: the regeneration then is done out on the road, monitored.
Coming to Ore — how soon?
It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is now in the schedule. Ring 0303 330 1830 and you will know what is available across the TN area.
The filter — does it leave the vehicle?
Not on the call-out service — it is cleaned where it stands. That work — a filter off, a filter back on — is not a job we do.
What if the light reappears?
An engineer comes back out to Ore — the 30-day warranty includes aftercare.
