Mobile DPF Cleaning for Old Tame, Greater Manchester

Call-out DPF cleaning comes to the vehicle. An engineer turns up at your address in Old Tame, cleans the diesel particulate filter while it is still on the vehicle, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you arrived with.

You'll know a price by phone before anyone departs, the clean beginning from £299, and the visit taking typically around 2 hours.

Most drivers find us with the light showing, and the car short of power. That is exactly what this page is written for.

DPF light on? What comes next

Not the DPF, necessarily. Main thing to get straight. A clean is not where a visit begins. A diagnostic is — a number of faults register as the same warning.

Second thing: how you drive it between now and then makes a difference.

  • Motor still driving normally on an amber light — attempt a long steady run first. It costs nothing and frequently shifts the filter without help.
  • Once the car is in limp mode, a long run will not reach it. The window has gone.
  • A diesel smell in there, or black smoke under acceleration, is the moment to stop booking long drives and ring.

Signs the car has been showing you

Symptoms have generally been mounting for a while before the light ever shows. Late news, in other words:

  • less power, particularly climbing uphill
  • the revs no longer climb the way they always did
  • consumption that is worse than before
  • the stop/start without a word giving up
  • a diesel smell in the car, or smoke under acceleration

By itself, none of that is proof. The light with them indicates a blocked filter.

The explanation diesel particulate filters block around Old Tame

For a DPF, the poorest use is the type you meet around a rural hamlet such as Old Tame. A regeneration takes long enough and heat, and gets none: not on the school run to Christ Church CofE Primary School, not on Oldham Road at half past eight, not on ten minutes to Asda, and not on the hop to Greenfield. Unburnt soot that should clear collects instead.

Geography does not help either. The M62 is under 3 miles from Old Tame and Manchester is under 15 miles away, so unless something takes you out that way routinely, entire weeks slip past without the long steady run that would scour the filter alone.

DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode stops it

The vehicle is protecting itself, which is what limp mode amounts to. The entire catch is that a long drive works by starting a regeneration, and once in limp mode the revs will not climb and power is held down.

The standard advice — run it up the motorway — is sound, right until it is not. The far side of that stage — limp mode — road work will not do it, and the filter needs treatment.

The motor stays put for on-site DPF cleaning round Old Tame

Most owners do not expect this part: the filter stays on. The job happens with the DPF still fixed to the vehicle — on your drive, in a work car park, anywhere the car can wait for a few hours.

The ECU is read first, showing soot load by percent and by mass, along with a check of sensor feeds, glow plugs and associated hardware, so nothing is cleaned while another fault is still possible.

Next comes the clean itself: cleaning fluid in through the car's own access port, opening out inside the filter and loosening what a regeneration cannot. Where the filter is heavily blocked, expect a second pass.

Next, a regeneration burns off everything the clean lifted. If you are there, that is done as a monitored drive out of Old Tame; if not, statically where the car sits, with the live data read afterwards.

A second check proves the change, resets the warning light and notes anything still open. Both reports are sent over, so you have the before and after figures on record.

When a DPF clean is not the answer

Only one fault is fixed by a clean: the filter choked with ash and soot. It does no good for:

  • the wrong figure from a temperature sensor
  • the EGR valve stuck open
  • the AdBlue system failing
  • injectors or glow plugs that block a regeneration completing whatsoever
  • a turbo putting oil through the filter

That is what the first check is for. Where one of those turns out to be the fault, you hear about it up front rather than once the money has gone already.

Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter hollowed out fails its MOT, and driving it is illegal, so that is no fix. What gets searched for as DPF renewal replaces nothing: your existing filter is treated in place and goes back into work.

The figure for DPF cleaning around Old Tame

A call-out charge holds whatever the outcome, and takes in the visit, the booking fee, the scan and the advice offered. Treatment itself begins from £299.

Publishing a flat rate would not be truthful. We settle it by phone, once the vehicle and its expected needs are established. What you own and where you are both change it: Old Tame itself, over at Grains Bar, or farther out in the OL postcode area.

If the scan counts treatment out, there is nothing to pay for it. Because the visit, the scan and the advice have happened, the call-out charge still applies.

Aftercare is covered by a 30-day warranty: should the light reappear within it, an engineer returns to Old Tame.

On-site DPF cleaning at a vehicle in Old Tame

Dan and trainee Sam came along sorted out the car, got it from trapped on the drive to back on the road in under 1hr and 30 mins. Also highlighted some issues that needed fixing unrelated to the initial problem and gave some after care advice!

Aidan W.

Liam the DPF technician really did a good job, my Audi a6 had limited power and after cleaning and changing sensors it was perfect.

Ras L.

Logan came out and talked me through everything. He ran a thorough check and concluded that I didn't need a clean, explained everything and then spent time with me talking me through what to do. Could have easily done an unnecessary clean and charged me. Mind at ease.

Vehicles we clean, and where we get to round Old Tame

Whatever it is — private car, panel van, light commercial, lorry, plant, construction machinery, farm vehicle — the one mobile service holds, and the filter never departs it.

Nearly every week there is already someone on Oldham Road, so Old Tame seldom means a journey of its own, and Grains Bar, Dog Hill and the places past Denshaw follow. It is the calendar, not the distance, that decides whether it is today or tomorrow, and coverage extends UK-wide — so call still from further out through Greater Manchester.

What Old Tame drivers want to know about DPF cleaning

Can I simply take it for a long drive?
If you spot it early enough, and the car is not in limp mode, sometimes. A sustained run at motorway speed is what it needs — not ten minutes to Asda and back.
The visit takes how long?
Bank on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean lengthening that where the filter is badly clogged.
How much does it cost in Old Tame?
Starting from £299, with a charge for travelling that takes in the diagnostic and advice on what to do next. Both the vehicle and where you are change it, which is why quoting happens by phone.
Must I be present in person?
Nobody expects you to stand with it — the vehicle simply wants space to wait for a couple of hours. If you would prefer to come along, the regeneration can be done as a watched drive instead.
When can someone travel to Old Tame?
It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is currently in the diary. Phone 0303 330 1830 what is open across the OL area.
Is the filter lifted off the vehicle?
On the on-site service, no: the filter is cleaned in place. We do not lift filters off or bolt them back on, in either direction.
The light comes back — then what?
The 30-day warranty covers aftercare, including an engineer returning to Old Tame.
