Mobile DPF Cleaning across Old Country and Herefordshire

The motor remains in place — on-site DPF cleaning travels to it. The fitter turns up at your door in Old Country and gets to work. The diesel particulate filter is cleaned fitted to the motor, a DPF regeneration runs after it, and you hold on to the filter you started with.

You'll have a figure by phone before anyone leaves, the clean starting from £299, and the visit taking typically around 2 hours.

Most owners find us with the light on already, and the vehicle down on power. That is exactly what this page is aimed at.

DPF light on? What happens next

First thing: it is not necessarily the filter. A diagnostic goes before all work, because that same dash light has several candidate faults behind it.

Second thing: how you handle it between now and then matters.

  • Amber light, car yet driving as normal — a long steady run can yet sort it by itself. Costs zero, and worth a try before you book anything.
  • Once the vehicle is in limp mode, a long run will not reach it. The window has gone.
  • A diesel smell in the car, or black smoke under acceleration, is the point to stop booking long drives and call.

Signs the motor has been showing you

Last news, the light. The symptoms usually mount for weeks before it shows:

  • less power, particularly going uphill
  • an engine whose revs will not pull as before
  • worse fuel use
  • the stop/start quietly giving up
  • a diesel smell in the interior, or smoke under acceleration

Any one of those, taken singly, is not conclusive. It is a fair bet the filter is loaded once the light is there too.

Choked diesel particulate filters around Old Country, and the reason

The motoring that comes with a small village like Old Country is the worst sort for a DPF. A regeneration wants the time and heat, and has none: not on the school run to Bosbury CofE Primary School, not on B4220 at half eight, not on ten minutes to The Bran Tub, and not on the hop to Colwall. Instead of burning away, the unburnt soot collects.

Except when you have a routine reason to get out to the M50, under 10 miles from Old Country, or out to Worcester under 15 miles away, entire weeks pass without a long unbroken drive. Geography is unhelpful.

DPF regeneration, and the moment limp mode stops it

It is self-preservation: that is all limp mode amounts to. Pulling power is capped, the revs will not climb, and the regeneration the filter wants can never complete — which is the real difficulty, because a long drive works by triggering that regeneration.

So the common advice to take it up the motorway is sensible advice, until it stops being. The far side of that line — limp mode — more driving will not do it, and the filter wants cleaning.

DPF cleaning for a blocked filter across Old Country, Herefordshire

The motor stays where it is for call-out DPF cleaning round Old Country

The filter does not budge. That is the detail most drivers do not see coming: the job takes place with the DPF still fixed to the motor, on your front, in a work car park, anywhere the motor can sit for a couple of hours.

Nothing is started until other faults are cleared. That requires a diagnostic first: real-time data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by weight, and a review of the sensor readings, glow plugs and associated components.

A cleaning fluid after that goes in through the access point on that motor, spreading inside the filter to free soot and ash a regeneration alone will never move. Heavily blocked filters sometimes need a second pass.

A regeneration follows, clearing what the clean has loosened. Come with the car and it becomes a monitored drive out of Old Country. Leave it and the regeneration goes statically, with real-time data verified once it is done.

A second diagnostic verifies the change, resets the warning light and notes anything still showing. Both sets of figures are emailed over, so you end up with the before and after figures on record.

What a DPF clean will not cure

Cleaning fixes one thing: a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does little for:

  • the wrong reading from a pressure or temperature sensor
  • a jammed EGR valve
  • an AdBlue system failure
  • a regeneration that hardly ever completes, because of glow plugs or injectors
  • the turbo putting oil into the filter

That is what the first diagnostic is for. When one of those is the fault, you hear about it in advance rather than once the money has gone altogether.

Two things more worth knowing. Getting the filter cut out is not a remedy — a vehicle without a working DPF cannot pass its MOT and driving it is against the law. And cleaning is sometimes looked up as DPF renewal: nothing is swapped, your existing filter is treated in place and sent back into use.

The price for DPF cleaning across Old Country

Any visit takes a call-out charge — getting to you, setting up the booking, carrying out the check and passing on the advice. The clean itself begins from £299.

No single flat rate would be straight, so the figure is settled by the phone once we have the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. Whereabouts you are tells as much as what you drive: Old Country itself, Stoneyard Green nearby, or otherwise out within the HR postcode area.

Cleaning that will not help is not cleaning you pay for, and the diagnostic is what says so. Because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have taken place, the call-out charge even so stands.

Aftercare is included by a 30-day warranty: should the light reappear within it, an engineer heads back to Old Country.

Absolutely spot on service, Chris travelled all the way from Wrexham to Lytham St Anne's. Spent a few hours on my car, no issues since. Service from the booking office easy and hassle free and friendly. Can't recommend them enough.

Excellent service, completely unclogged my dpf & identified a nox sensor would need replacing. Car now working as new. Recommended.

Vehicles we clean, and where we travel around Old Country

The filter is treated on the vehicle on all of them: cars and estates, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs, plant machinery, agricultural machinery. Nothing is taken anywhere.

Our engineers are along B4220 most weeks, so Old Country is seldom a special trip, and the same run picks up Stoneyard Green, Ailscroft and the places out past Bosbury. Farther out through Herefordshire is still worth a call — coverage reaches UK-wide, and it is the calendar rather than the distance that picks between one day and the next.

Things Old Country drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Will a long drive shift it?
Sometimes, if you catch it early enough and the motor has not slipped into limp mode. That calls for motorway speed for a sustained stretch, rather than a brief trip to The Bran Tub.
The visit lasts how long?
Expect typically around 2 hours — heavily blocked filters sometimes need a second pass, which lengthens it.
In Old Country, what does it come to?
The call-out charge pays for the visit, the scan and the advice; cleaning itself opens from £299. We quote on the phone, because the vehicle and your address both move the figure.
Do I have to be present?
No. The car requires a spot to wait for a couple of hours; you need not stand with it. The regeneration can be done as a watched drive if you would sooner be there.
How soon can someone come to Old Country?
It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is now in the diary. One ring to 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what the HR area has open.
Will the filter be lifted off?
Not on the call-out service — it is treated where it is. Lifting a filter off or fitting one back on come to anything a job we do in either direction.
The light reappears — then what?
An engineer heads back out to Old Country — the 30-day warranty takes in aftercare.
