Signs the car has been showing you
Last news, the light. The symptoms usually build for some time before it arrives:
- climbing uphill, the power tails off
- you see the revs stop short of where they used to go
- worse fuel consumption
- a stop/start that has silently given up
- a diesel smell in the car, or smoke under acceleration
That is not conclusive on its own. It is a fair guess the filter is loaded once the light is there too.
