Nye, Somerset: Mobile DPF Cleaning
On-site DPF cleaning travels to the car. No workshop, no filter coming off. A fitter drives out to your address in Nye, clears the diesel particulate filter where it is, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you came with.
You'll be given a number by phone before anyone departs, the clean starting from £299, and the visit running typically around 2 hours.
The light is on already and the car is low on power — that is how we usually come across people, and what this page deals with.
Your DPF light is showing — what now?
It could not be the DPF at all. That is the first thing. A check goes before all cleaning, because that same dash light has several possible faults behind it.
Second thing: how you run it between now and then counts.
- Amber light, vehicle still driving normally — a long constant run can yet shift it by itself. Costs nothing, and worth trying before you book anything.
- Motor already fallen into limp mode — that window has shut. A drive will not touch it now.
- Stop booking long drives and get it checked if the interior smells of diesel or there is black smoke when you press on.
Before the light, what the vehicle was telling you
Late news, the light. The symptoms usually mount for a while before it shows:
- pulling uphill, the power drops away
- you find the revs stop short of where they always went
- worse fuel economy
- the stop/start silently giving up
- a diesel smell in the cabin, or smoke under hard acceleration
None of that is conclusive by itself. It is a fair guess the filter is loaded once the light is on as well.
The reason diesel particulate filters clog near Nye
The driving that comes with a rural hamlet like Nye is the worst kind for a DPF. A regeneration takes the time and heat, and gets none: not on the school run to Sandford Primary School, not on Drove Way at half eight, not on a few minutes to Co-op Food, and not on the dash to Worle. Instead of burning away, the soot builds up.
Save when you have a regular reason to head out to the M5, under 3 miles from Nye, or across to Bristol under 15 miles away, whole weeks slip past without a sustained run. Geography is against you.
DPF regeneration, and the point limp mode kills it
What limp mode means is the motor looking after itself. The real difficulty is that a long drive works by triggering a regeneration, and under limp mode the revs will not climb and power is capped.
Sensible advice, that motorway run — right up until the point it is not. Once the motor is in limp mode you are beyond that stage, and the filter requires a clean rather than road work.
DPF cleaning at the car across Nye
The filter does not budge. That is the detail most drivers do not see coming: the job is done with the DPF yet fixed to the motor, on your front, in a work car park, anywhere the motor can wait for a few hours.
The ECU is taken first, giving soot load by percent and by mass, along with a look over of sensor readings, glow plugs and associated parts, so nothing is cleaned while another fault is still open.
Then comes the clean itself: solution in through the vehicle's own access port, expanding inside the filter and lifting what a regeneration cannot. A second pass is sometimes called for on heavily clogged filters.
A regeneration follows, clearing what the clean has loosened. That is a monitored drive out of Nye if you are along, or a static regeneration where the vehicle waits, with the real-time data verified afterwards.
Both reports go over by email, so the figures from either end are on record. The second diagnostic is what proves the change, clears the light and lists whatever is still open.
What a DPF clean will not fix
One thing is what a clean answers — a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does nothing for:
- pressure sensors flagging a blockage that is not there
- a stuck-open EGR valve
- AdBlue system failures
- faulty glow plugs or injectors, so no regeneration ever completes
- oil passing through the filter from a faulty turbo
That is what the first diagnostic is for. Where it is found to be one of those, you are told before any work begins rather than after you have paid for it.
DPF renewal is what people look up, but no part is replaced: the filter you own is cleaned where it sits and sent back into service. Nor is having it gutted a fix, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes an offence. Two more things worth noting.
The figure of DPF cleaning in Nye
A call-out charge holds whatever happens, and covers the visit, the booking fee, the diagnostic and the advice passed on. The clean itself starts from £299.
No flat rate would be straight, so the price is agreed on the phone once we know the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. Whereabouts you are tells as much as what you drive: Nye itself, Puxton next door, or farther out across the BS postcode area.
If the diagnostic counts cleaning out, there is nothing to pay for it. The call-out charge nonetheless holds, because the visit, the scan and the advice have been done.
If the light returns inside that window, an engineer travels back out to Nye — the work carries a 30-day warranty covering aftercare.
Diaz did a very great job. He gave a detail explanation on what to do after his work and in fact the car is back on its normal performance. Thank you mate.
What a fantastic company to deal with, so professional from start to finish and big credit to Dave. Thank you once again and definitely I gonna use your service in the future.
Managed to clean the DPF in my Range Rover Evoque whilst in limp mode and get it back on the road in 2 hours. Ashley was knowledgeable and did a cracking job.
Vehicles we clean, and where we reach near Nye
The filter is treated in place on all of them: cars and estates, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs, construction and plant machinery, agricultural vehicles. Nothing is carried anywhere.
Nye is rarely a special trip: our engineers are working Drove Way most weeks, and the same run takes in Puxton, Rolstone and the villages out past Sandford. Coverage runs UK-wide, so even further out through Somerset is even so worth a phone call, and what decides between today and tomorrow is the schedule rather than the distance.

What Nye drivers wonder about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough alone?
- Sometimes, if you spot it in time and the vehicle has not slipped into limp mode. Five minutes to Co-op Food and back will not do it; motorway speed, kept for a stretch, will.
- Does the visit run long?
- Allow typically around 2 hours — badly clogged filters sometimes take a second pass, which extends it.
- The cost across Nye — what is it?
- The call-out charge covers the visit, the check and the advice; treatment itself starts from £299. The vehicle and your address both move the price, so we price on the phone.
- Is it needed for me to be present?
- Space for the motor to wait, for a couple of hours, is all that is required. Not you. Travel along if you would rather, and the regeneration turns into a supervised drive.
- How soon can someone get to Nye?
- Depending on the schedule, often same-day or next-day is usual. Phone 0303 330 1830 and we will let you what is free across the BS area.
- Does the filter leave the motor?
- Not on the on-site service — it is done where it stands. We will not get filters off or fit them back on, whichever way.
- The light comes back — then what?
- Aftercare falls inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer returning to Nye.
