Mobile DPF Cleaning in New Town and West Yorkshire
The car stays in place — on-site DPF cleaning comes to it. No workshop, no filter going anywhere. An engineer travels to your address over in New Town, cleans the diesel particulate filter where it is, runs a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you started with.
You'll know a price by phone before anyone departs, the clean opening from £299, and the visit lasting typically around 2 hours.
Written for the situation most callers are in: the light on already, the car starved for power, and the visit still to arrange.
What to check when the DPF light shows
The filter is not automatically what is to blame, and that leads. Several faults put the very same light on the identical dash, which is why a visit opens with a diagnostic rather than with cleaning.
Second thing: how you run it between now and then makes a difference.
- A long constant run may even now do it, provided the light is amber and the car runs as normal. Costs nothing at all, so attempt that before ringing.
- Car already gone into limp mode — that window has gone. A drive will not reach it now.
- Stop arranging long drives and get it seen to if the interior smells of diesel or there is black smoke when you press on.
The vehicle has been telling you already
By the time the light arrives, things have usually been going wrong for weeks. It is belated news:
- power dropping away, especially climbing uphill
- the revs no longer pull the way they always did
- worse fuel consumption
- stop/start without a word bowing out
- diesel in the interior, or smoke on the way up through the gearbox
None of that is evidence by itself. The light beside them suggests a loaded filter.
The explanation diesel particulate filters block near New Town
For a DPF, the worst driving is the kind you meet in a residential suburb such as New Town. The school run to Orchard Head Junior and Infant and Nursery School, Sandhill Close at a halt at the morning rush, a few minutes to Aldi, the dash to Pontefract Monkhill — none of it goes on long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to finish a regeneration. What should clear remains.
Where you sit does not assist either. The M62 is under a mile from New Town and Wakefield is under 10 miles away, so unless something pulls you out that way regularly, weeks slip past without the long unbroken run that might clear the filter alone.
The point a DPF regeneration can no longer complete
What limp mode comes down to is the motor looking after itself. Power is limited, the revs will not climb, and the regeneration the filter needs can not run — which is the real catch, because a long drive works by setting off that regeneration.
Running it up the motorway is the common advice, and it works right up to a line. Once the vehicle is in limp mode you are beyond that stage, and the filter needs treatment rather than road work.
The motor stays put for call-out DPF cleaning round New Town
Nothing is taken from the motor. That throws people. The DPF sits bolted where it is and the work is done around it, on a forecourt, in a works car park, wherever it can sit for two hours or so.
First a check. Running ECU data, the soot load as a percentage and as a mass, the sensor feeds, the glow plugs, the connected parts — all of it logged before anything is started.
Soot and ash that a regeneration on its own will never budge are lifted second, by a solution fed through the access port on that vehicle, which expands inside the filter. A second pass is sometimes called for on severely clogged filters.
What the clean has freed is then cleared by a regeneration. That is a monitored drive out of New Town if you are present, or a static regeneration where the car stands, with the live data read after.
Then a second diagnostic, confirming the change, clearing the warning light and logging anything still logged. Both sets of figures are emailed over, so the before and after figures are recorded.
When a DPF clean is not the fix
Only one fault is cured by cleaning: the filter clogged with ash and soot. It does little for:
- a pressure sensor reporting a block that is not there
- a failed EGR valve
- the AdBlue system failing
- failed glow plugs or injectors, so no regeneration ever starts
- turbo trouble, with oil getting into the filter
The first check is there for just that. Turning out to be one of them means finding out it before work starts, not after paying anything.
Hollowing the filter out is not a fix: without a working DPF a vehicle cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is an offence. DPF renewal is the wording people search for, though nothing is replaced — your original filter is cleared in place and returned into use. Two more worth bearing in mind.
What DPF cleaning costs across New Town
Any visit takes a call-out charge — getting to you, making the booking, carrying out the diagnostic and offering the advice. The clean itself opens from £299.
Quoting a flat rate would not be honest. We settle it over phone, once the car and its expected needs are known. A pair of things shift it: what you own, and where you are — New Town itself, across at Townville, or otherwise out across the WF postcode area.
A clean that will not help is not treatment you pay for, and the check is what says so. You still pay that charge: someone turned up, ran the check and passed on you the advice.
A 30-day warranty takes in aftercare on the work, and that includes an engineer coming back out to New Town if the light reappears inside the period.
Absolutely fantastic service from Daniel when he arrived to fix my car, nothing was too much trouble and he took time to explain everything to me, would highly recommend to anyone & would definitely use again. Thank you Dan for a fantastic job.
Diagnosed my engine. Didn't need the clean. Gave me a diagnostic report and did not rip me off. I felt completely satisfied with the information given. Callum was polite, helpful and respectful. Good representative for the company.
Just had James to see to my car, great guy, and really a credit to Dpf Fixers. A go to company. A go to Guy.
The vehicles we clean and the patch we take in near New Town
Whatever it is — car, van, light commercial, lorry, plant, construction machinery, farm vehicle — the one on-site service stands, and the filter never departs it.
Engineers are along Sandhill Close nearly every week, so New Town is seldom a special trip, and the same run picks up Townville, Holmfield and the villages out past Pontefract. It is the diary, not the distance, that settles whether it is this day or the next, and coverage reaches UK-wide — so phone anyway from further out around West Yorkshire.

Things New Town drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Can I simply take it for a long drive?
- It may, provided you get it early and limp mode has not arrived. It takes a sustained run at motorway speed, not fifteen minutes flat to Aldi and back.
- How long does the visit take?
- It is typically around 2 hours. A heavily blocked filter can require a second clean, which extends that.
- What does it cost across New Town?
- Opening from £299, with a charge for the call-out that takes in the diagnostic and advice on what to do next. Pricing is done by phone, since what you own and where you live both shift the number.
- Have I need to be there?
- No. The vehicle needs space to wait for a couple of hours; you do not need to stand with it. If you would sooner come along, the regeneration can be carried out as a supervised drive instead.
- How soon can someone come to New Town?
- Depending on the schedule, often same-day or next-day is typical. One phone call to 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what the WF area has open.
- Will the filter be removed?
- On the call-out service, no: the filter is treated in place. Getting a filter off or putting one back on amount to anything work we do in either direction.
- What if the light reappears?
- Covered by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer travelling back to New Town.
