New Town Mobile DPF Cleaning, Dorset
The workshop to all intents travels to your door across in New Town, and the car stays where it is.
A DPF engineer pulls up in a kitted-out mobile unit, clears the DPF unit while it is still attached to the car, performs a DPF regeneration, and hands you back the car you started with. A couple of hours or about takes care of the whole thing, at quotes from £299, settled on the phone first.
How does a mobile DPF cleaning visit across New Town run?
Somewhere for the fitted van to sit, plus an engine that runs periodically, is the whole requirement.
Beyond that, it takes the same four steps each time:
- Nothing gets cleaned until we know what we're dealing with. A diagnostic scan reads the vehicle's ECU and gives the load as a percentage and by weight, and the sensor feeds, plugs and associated parts get tested at the same time.
- Baked-on soot a regeneration would never shift are what this step frees, using a cleaning agent injected at that motor's access point and allowed to expand inside the DPF.
- A regeneration cycle then drives off what the clean has loosened, either statically where the motor sits or on a monitored drive out of New Town if you want to come along.
- Then comes a closing scan. It verifies the change, puts out the warning light out, and lists anything that's still outstanding.
Emailed over once the second scan is done, both sets of numbers go on file.
Where does mobile DPF cleaning take place across New Town?
There is no special requirement beyond room to sit for the couple of hours.
Most people will have somewhere that suits:
- A driveway at home over in New Town
- A work car park
- Any free corner of a forecourt you can use
- A corner off South Street
- A retail car park such as Dike & Son, while you carry on
No waiting with the vehicle, and no DPF being taken from it while you are gone.
Diesel particulate filters round New Town, and what clogs them
It's the driving rather than the unit, and in a residential suburb such as New Town that pattern is the worst sort for it. The school run to St Mary's Catholic Primary School, Marnhull, the tailback down Common Lane at the morning rush, a few minutes to Dike & Son and home again, the run to Templecombe — none of it runs long enough or runs hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration cycle, so soot that should clear collects instead.
Geography doesn't help either. The M5 lies under 50 miles from New Town and Wells sits under 25 miles away, so unless something regularly takes you out down there, weeks pass without the sustained run that scours a filter.
Fuel use is normally what people spot first. Auto stop-start goes without a word, pull tails off, the revs will not climb properly, and there may be a diesel whiff in the interior or dark smoke on acceleration — often well before the light appears.
Call-out DPF cleaning: the faults it answers and the ones it does not
A single fault is answered by a DPF clean: the filter choked with soot and ash. You should not suppose the light means the unit, and the scan answers the question before any work is done to the vehicle.
These are beyond what a clean can do:
- Failing sensors reporting a blockage that is not there
- An EGR valve jammed open, filling the unit faster than it burns off
- A failure with the urea system
- Injectors or glow plugs that prevent the regeneration starting
- Oil working through the DPF from a worn turbo
If it proves to be any of those, you'll know it prior to any work starting — not once you've paid.
A couple more worth knowing. Having the DPF hollowed out is not a solution — a vehicle without a functioning DPF fails its MOT and driving it is against the law. And the work is sometimes described as DPF renewal: nothing is swapped, your existing filter is cleared in place and put back into service.
Will a long drive sort it on its own?
Worth attempting before you book: a DPF that's only just started to clog will often sort itself. Let it under 50 miles out of New Town to the M5 and sit at it there, or swing the long way into Wells rather than ten more minutes to Kington Magna.
Cleaning where it stands becomes the sensible next step once the light is on and reduced power has arrived, because a long run will no longer shift it.
On-site DPF cleaning prices around New Town
Where call-out DPF regeneration starts is from £299. No call-out comes without the call-out fee. What it pays for is the engineer's trip, the booking, the check and the steer that goes with it.
No flat rate would be straight, so the figure is settled over the phone once we are told the motor and what the unit is probably going to need. Say what you own and roughly where you are — New Town itself, across at Hartmoor, or elsewhere in the SP postcode area — and you will be given the price ahead of a soul being dispatched.
A 30-day warranty covers the work, aftercare included. If that warning light's back inside the period, you'll get a technician out to New Town again.
Which vehicles do we treat DPFs on around New Town?
All of these are given the same on-site work:
- Cars and saloons
- Vans and light commercial vehicles
- HGVs
- Site plant and construction machinery
- Agricultural and farm machinery
You're not taking anything to us: on every one the DPF is treated in place, at your door over in New Town.
You will need the other option if the car will not start at all: the unit comes off, travels to our premises by a courier, and is treated within a day of reaching us. Neither route covers taking a unit off or fitting one again.
Don't waste your time looking any further - these guys are the Real Deal! Excellent communication and outstanding customer service. Our engineer Andras, was polite, extremely knowledgeable, and an absolute pleasure to have working on our car. Great company, great staff, thank you all so much! Regards. Dean.
The DPF Fixer technician was prompt, thorough and professional, and most importantly, 3 days later my car passed its MOT (having previously failed on emissions) - we could not be happier!
Logan was a Great honest guy who gave a great service. Arrived on time, explained process and would highly recommend.
The SP area and New Town: the ground we cover
Our vans are down Common Lane most weeks, so New Town is hardly ever out of the way. The same trip includes Hartmoor and Buckhorn Weston, and the villages out past Kington Magna and Fifehead Magdalen.
Wider afield across Dorset is nonetheless worth calling. You are not waiting on the journey. Coverage reaches nationwide, and it is the local diary that governs whether it is today or tomorrow.
Mobile DPF cleaning around New Town: frequent questions
How long is the visit?
You are looking at around 2 hours, plus more where the unit needs doing again.
What will on-site DPF cleaning cost me in New Town?
On top of a price beginning from £299, the journey, the check and the steer are covered by a call-out charge. You'll get the figure over the phone, because what you own and where you are both change it.
Do you travel to my home or my office?
Anywhere across New Town and the broader Dorset area, home or work. Nothing is removed. Wherever the motor happens to be parked is where the job is done.
When can an engineer get to New Town?
You will usually be offered the same-day or the next, depending on what is already booked. What is free across the SP area is something we can tell you the moment you phone 0303 330 1830.
Do I still owe anything if you can't treat it?
Regardless that charge holds, since it meets the travelling, the diagnostic and the advice. Cleaning that does not happen is not charged for.
What happens if that light returns?
An engineer returns to New Town. Aftercare of that sort is what the 30-day warranty covers.
How many months will the work last?
How the vehicle is used afterwards settles that. Longer runs — out towards Wells, or down the M5 — do far more good than short hops round Hartmoor and back.
