New Town, Dorset: Mobile DPF Cleaning
Call-out DPF cleaning comes to the motor. An engineer comes at your place across New Town, clears the diesel particulate filter while it is still on the vehicle, performs a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you came with.
Budget for the visit running typically around 2 hours. The clean opens from £299, agreed by the phone before anyone sets off.
Written for the situation most drivers are in: the light on already, the motor short for power, and the job still to arrange.
The DPF light is on. What now?
Not the filter, necessarily. Opening thing to say. Cleaning is not where a visit opens. A diagnostic is — a number of faults register as the same light.
It tells what you do with the vehicle between now and the booking.
- Worth a go before you call anything: amber light, car driving fine, just one even run, no cost.
- Motor already fallen into limp mode — that window has shut. A drive will not reach it now.
- A diesel smell in there, or black smoke under hard acceleration, is the stage to stop booking long drives and ring.
What the car has been telling you
The light is belated news. By the time it shows, the symptoms have usually been growing for some time:
- climbing uphill, the power drops away
- you notice the revs fall short of where they always went
- economy that is worse than it used to be
- quietly, the stop/start bows out
- smoke under hard acceleration, or a diesel smell inside
Any one of those, taken by itself, is not proof. The light with them points at a full filter.
Why diesel particulate filters block near New Town
New Town is a rural hamlet, and the motoring that belongs to one is the least kind kind for a DPF. Look at a normal week: Sixpenny Handley First School and Nursery and back, Common Drove at a crawl before nine, a five-minute run to Lidl, a hop to Tisbury. None of it there runs long enough or is hot enough to complete a regeneration. The soot that should burn off collects instead.
Neither is far from New Town: under 25 miles to the M27, under 25 miles to Salisbury. Neither is on the way to much most weeks, though, so the journey that would clear a filter never gets made.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops working
It is self-preservation: that is all limp mode amounts to. A proper drive works by starting a regeneration, and that is precisely what limp mode rules out: power held down, revs held down, no regeneration available.
The usual advice — run it up the motorway — is sensible, until it is not. In limp mode you are past that stage: treatment is what will work, not more miles.
Mobile DPF cleaning where the vehicle stands in New Town
On your front, in a work car park, any place the car can stand for a couple of hours: the job is done with the filter even now fixed on, which is the detail most drivers do not expect.
Nothing is cleaned until other faults are eliminated. That requires a diagnostic first: live data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by weight, and a look over of the sensor feeds, glow plugs and associated hardware.
A solution then is fed in through the access port on that motor, expanding inside the filter to free soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never shift. Where the filter is badly loaded, expect a second pass.
A regeneration is next, burning off what the clean has lifted. If you are there, that is carried out as a monitored drive out of New Town; if not, in place where the motor waits, with the running data read after.
Then a second scan, verifying the change, resetting the warning light and noting anything still logged. Both reports are sent over, so the before and after figures are on record.
Where treatment is not the answer
Cleaning fixes one thing: a filter choked with soot and ash. It does no good for:
- a temperature or pressure sensor showing a blockage that is not there
- the EGR valve stuck open
- the AdBlue system failing
- glow plugs or injectors preventing the regeneration completing at all
- a turbo passing oil through the filter
Finding that out is the first diagnostic's whole job. Proving to be one of them means finding out it before work starts, not after handing over anything.
A couple more worth bearing in mind. Getting the filter gutted is not a solution — a vehicle without a functioning DPF cannot pass its MOT and driving it is against the law. And cleaning is sometimes described as DPF renewal: nothing is swapped, your original filter is cleaned in place and returned into use.
DPF cleaning costs in New Town
Treatment starts from £299, with the call-out charge on top of that for every visit — it takes in the call-out, the booking, the diagnostics and the advice.
Once we have what you own, and broadly what the filter will need, the figure gets agreed over phone. A single price for everyone would not be truthful. The car moves it, and so does the location — New Town, Tollard Farnham, or a spot farther out in the DT postcode area.
You are not asked to pay for cleaning that the diagnostic says will not help. The call-out charge still holds, because the visit, the scan and the advice have happened.
The job comes with a 30-day warranty including aftercare, including an engineer coming back out to New Town if the light comes back inside that window.
Recently had the DPF cleaned by Liam. Good communication throughout, and he clearly answered all questions. The van is now up and running nicely.
I RANG DPP FIXER THEY CALLED BACK WITHIN. MINUTES ORGANISED FOR THE NEXT DAY AND GUY TURNED UP AT THE APPOINTED TIME CLEANED DPP TOOK 1HR VERY PLEASED WITH SERVICE.
Keiran was friendly and professional, he fixed the problem and offered advice on how to avoid the issue in the future. We were very pleased with the work.
Where we travel round New Town, and what we clean
A single call-out service spans private cars, vans of any size and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, construction and plant machinery and agricultural machinery, and on every one the filter is cleaned on the vehicle rather than carried anywhere.
Nearly every week there is by then someone on Common Drove, so New Town hardly ever means a journey of its own, and Tollard Farnham, Chettle and the spots past Farnham come with it. It is the diary, not the distance, that picks whether it is one day or the next, and coverage reaches UK-wide — so call even from farther out around Dorset.

Things New Town drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run clear it?
- If you catch it early, and the car is not in limp mode, sometimes. That means motorway speed for a sustained spell, rather than a short trip to Lidl.
- The visit runs how long?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a severely clogged filter can require cleaning twice, which runs on.
- What does it cost in New Town?
- It begins from £299, plus the call-out charge paying for the visit, the check and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are change it, which is why settling it goes by phone.
- Must I be there in person?
- A spot for the car to stand, for a couple of hours, is all that is needed. Not you. Ride along if you would rather, and the regeneration turns into a monitored drive.
- When can someone travel to New Town?
- It is often same-day or next-day, depending on what is already in the schedule. One ring to 0303 330 1830 and you will hear what the DT area has available.
- Will the filter be lifted off?
- Done where it sits, on this service, so no. Lifting a filter off or fitting one back on amount to anything something we do whichever way.
- And if the light comes back?
- An engineer comes back out to New Town — the 30-day warranty takes in aftercare.
