Mobile DPF Cleaner

Mobile DPF Cleaning serving New Invention, Shropshire

The car sits in place — on-site DPF cleaning comes to it. No body shop, no filter coming off. An engineer drives out to your address over in New Invention, clears the diesel particulate filter as it sits, runs a DPF regeneration, and you end up with the filter you arrived with.

Reckon on the visit running typically around 2 hours. The clean opens from £299, fixed over the phone before anyone travels.

Written for the state most drivers are in: the light showing, the car starved for power, and the visit still to arrange.

What to do when the DPF light shows

The filter is not necessarily what is wrong, and that goes first. That light can arise from plenty of faults, not merely one, so the visit starts with a check and not with a clean.

The use you do in the meantime matters. That is the next thing.

  • Amber light, motor yet driving fine — a long steady run can even now shift it by itself. Costs nothing at all, and worth trying before you ring anything.
  • Motor already gone into limp mode — that window has gone. A drive will not touch it now.
  • Stop arranging long drives and get it checked if the car stinks of diesel or there is black smoke when you press on.

The car has been showing you already

By the time the light appears, things have usually been going wrong for a while. It is belated news:

  • climbing uphill, the power tails off
  • you find the revs stop short of where they always went
  • worse fuel consumption
  • the stop/start silently bowing out
  • a diesel smell in the interior, or smoke under acceleration

Any one of those, taken singly, is not proof. With the light, it is a fair guess the filter is full.

Blocked diesel particulate filters around New Invention, and the why

The day-to-day driving that goes with a rural hamlet like New Invention is the poorest kind for a DPF. Not one bit of it runs long enough or is hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to St George's CofE Academy, Clun, Parkhill Lane standing at half eight, ten minutes to Costcutter, the hop to Knighton. Instead of clearing, the soot builds up.

The map does not assist either. The M54 is under 50 miles from New Invention and Hereford is under 50 miles away, so unless something carries you out that way regularly, entire weeks go by without the sustained run that could clear the filter on its own.

Why limp mode prevents a DPF regeneration

What limp mode comes down to is the motor looking after itself. A proper drive works by starting a regeneration, and that is just what limp mode prevents: power capped, revs pinned, no regeneration available.

The usual advice — get it up the motorway — is sensible, up until it is not. Once the motor is in limp mode you are past that stage, and the filter wants treatment rather than road work.

The filter does not leave it. That is the detail most owners do not anticipate: the job is done with the DPF yet fixed to the vehicle, on your drive, in a work car park, anywhere the motor can sit for a while.

First a scan. Live ECU data, the soot load as a proportion and as a figure, the sensors, the glow plugs, the associated parts — all of it logged before a thing is touched.

A cleaning fluid then is fed in through the access port on that vehicle, spreading inside the filter to lift soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never budge. Sometimes a filter is clogged enough to take doing twice.

Next, a regeneration drives off everything the clean loosened. Stay with the motor and it turns into a monitored drive out of New Invention. Park it and the regeneration is done statically, with real-time data read once it is done.

Both sets of figures go over by email, so the figures from either end are kept. The second scan is what verifies the change, resets the light and lists whatever is still showing.

The problems a DPF clean cannot answer

Cleaning answers one thing: a filter blocked with soot and ash. It does little for:

  • a temperature or pressure sensor showing a blockage that is not there
  • a jammed EGR valve
  • AdBlue system faults
  • a regeneration that never completes, because of glow plugs or injectors
  • turbo problems, with oil getting into the filter

Finding that out is the first diagnostic's purpose. Where one of those turns out to be the fault, you learn of it at the outset rather than once the money has gone already.

Two more worth noting. Having the filter hollowed out is not a remedy — a vehicle without a functioning DPF will fail its MOT and driving it is illegal. And cleaning is sometimes looked up as DPF renewal: nothing is swapped, your original filter is cleaned in place and put back into use.

The price of DPF cleaning in New Invention

A call-out charge holds whatever happens, and takes in the visit, the booking fee, the check and the advice offered. Cleaning itself opens from £299.

No flat rate would be honest, so the price is settled by the phone once we are told the vehicle and what the filter is apt to need. Two separate things move it: what you run, and where you are — New Invention itself, out at Treverward, or farther out within the SY postcode area.

You are not billed for treatment that the diagnostic says will not do it. What still applies is the call-out charge, since the visit happened, the scan was done and the advice was offered.

If the light reappears inside that period, an engineer travels back out to New Invention — the work comes with a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare.

The guys diagnosed my problem and gave advice on what next needed to be done. I followed their advice and the car is now running perfectly.

Called to get DPf cleaned came out next day, very friendly and helpful did a good job, thanks Dave. Will definitely recommend and use again.

Vehicles we clean, and where we get to round New Invention

Cars, panel vans and light commercials, HGVs, plant and construction machinery, farm vehicles — the one call-out service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is done where it sits rather than taken anywhere.

The same round that has engineers on Parkhill Lane most weeks covers New Invention, Treverward, Rockhill and the villages beyond Knighton. It is the diary, not the distance, that decides whether it is this day or the next, and coverage runs UK-wide — so phone even from even further out through Shropshire.

Things New Invention drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Will a long drive clear it?
Soon enough, and with the vehicle out of limp mode, yes — sometimes. It needs a long run at motorway speed, not ten minutes to Costcutter and back.
How long does the visit take?
That is typically around 2 hours, though a badly loaded filter can need cleaning twice, which runs on.
In New Invention, what does it cost?
The call-out charge takes in the visit, the diagnostic and the advice; cleaning itself starts from £299. Pricing is done by phone, since what you run and where you live both move the number.
Do I have to be around?
The motor needs a place for two hours or so. Nobody expects you to be in it. If you would sooner come along, the regeneration can be done as a monitored drive instead.
How soon can someone travel to New Invention?
You are in for often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is now in the schedule. One ring to 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what the SY area has free.
The filter — does it leave the car?
It is cleaned where it is, on the mobile service. Nor does lifting a filter off nor bolting one back on is work we do.
What if the light returns?
Aftercare sits inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer coming back to New Invention.
