Mobile DPF Cleaner

New End, Worcestershire: Mobile DPF Cleaning

With call-out DPF cleaning, we drive out to the motor. A fitter comes at your address over in New End, cleans the diesel particulate filter while it is attached to the vehicle, carries out a DPF regeneration, and you hold on to the filter you arrived with.

Nobody sets off until the number is fixed over the phone. The visit runs typically around 2 hours and the clean begins from £299.

The light is showing and the motor is short of power — that is how we generally find people, and roughly what this page is about.

The DPF light is on. What then?

First thing: it is not automatically the DPF. Treatment is not where a visit begins. A check is — several faults appear as the same signal.

Second thing: how you run it between now and then makes a difference.

  • Motor even now driving as normal on an amber light — have a go at a long even run first. It costs nothing and often sorts the filter without assistance.
  • A drive will not reach it now — limp mode means that window has by then closed.
  • Get it looked at rather than driving it — diesel in the interior, or smoke on hard acceleration, has gone well past the long-run stage.

The motor has been telling you already

Symptoms have generally been growing for a while before the light so much as appears. Belated news, in other words:

  • less power, above all climbing uphill
  • the revs no longer pull the way they once did
  • worse fuel consumption
  • quietly, the stop/start gives up
  • smoke under hard acceleration, or a diesel smell in there

Any one of those, taken by itself, is not conclusive. Alongside the light, it is a fair guess the filter is full.

Why diesel particulate filters choke around New End

The driving that comes with a rural village like New End is the least kind kind for a DPF. Nothing of it lasts long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to Astwood Bank Primary School, Brandheath Lane standing at half past eight, five minutes to Co-op Food, the hop to Redditch. What should burn off stays behind.

The map does not help either. The M42 is under 10 miles from New End and Worcester is under 15 miles away, so unless something takes you out that way regularly, whole weeks pass without the long unbroken run that would clear the filter by itself.

Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration gives out

The motor is looking after itself, which is what limp mode means. A long drive works by setting off a regeneration, and that is precisely what limp mode prevents: power limited, revs held down, no regeneration on offer.

Running it up the motorway is the usual advice, and it stands right up to a point. Once the car is in limp mode you are beyond that point, and the filter needs cleaning rather than road work.

A clogged DPF treated across New End, Worcestershire

Where the vehicle stands is where the DPF is done in New End

The filter does not leave it. That is the detail most people do not expect: the job happens with the DPF yet fixed to the motor, on your driveway, in a work car park, any place the motor can stand for a few hours.

Nothing is cleaned until other faults are eliminated. That means a scan first: live data off the ECU, soot load by proportion and by weight, and a check of the sensor readings, glow plugs and associated hardware.

Then comes the clean itself: cleaning fluid in through the car's own access point, opening out inside the filter and freeing what a regeneration will not. Where the filter is severely clogged, expect a second pass.

Then a regeneration, to burn off what the clean has loosened. Either it runs as a monitored drive out of New End, with you along, or it runs where the vehicle stands and the running data is checked after.

Both reports are sent by email, so the figures from either end are recorded. The second check is what verifies the change, resets the light and logs whatever is still open.

Where a clean is not the solution

Only one fault is fixed by cleaning: the filter clogged with ash and soot. It does nothing for:

  • the wrong figure from a temperature or pressure sensor
  • EGR valves that stick open
  • AdBlue system faults
  • injectors or glow plugs that prevent a regeneration completing whatsoever
  • turbo failure, with oil entering the filter

Finding that out is the first diagnostic's job. You are let know before all work gets going, not after you have paid, should it turns out to be one of those.

Lastly, two things. A vehicle with the filter cut out cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is an offence, so that is no remedy. What gets typed in as DPF renewal swaps nothing: your own filter is treated in place and goes back into work.

What DPF cleaning costs across New End

The cleaning opens from £299. A call-out charge is added to every visit, and covers the call-out itself, the booking, the diagnostic and the advice that comes with it.

The price is agreed by the phone, once we know the vehicle and what the filter is likely to need. No flat rate could be truthful. The vehicle changes it, and so does the address — New End, Edgiock, or somewhere farther out in the B postcode area.

A clean that will not work is not cleaning you pay for, and the check is what says so. You even so pay that charge: someone turned up, ran the scan and passed on you the advice.

Aftercare is included by a 30-day warranty: should the light reappear within it, an engineer returns to New End.

Outstanding customer service provided by Liam. The communication was exceptional, and I was consistently updated on all aspects, including the estimated time of arrival (ETA). Liam successfully resolved the PDF issue, and I am very satisfied with his work. I would highly recommend his services for PDF-related tasks.

Great service from Nic. Arrived on time and dealt with the blocked DPF in my Mazda 6 2.2 diesel with ease. I received a clear report with advisories for my local garage to deal with, plus excellent advice to avoid further issues. Highly recommended.

The vehicles we clean and the patch we take in around New End

The filter is cleaned in place on all of them: private cars, vans and light commercials, HGVs and lorries, plant and construction machinery, agricultural vehicles. Nothing is moved anywhere.

Our engineers are along Brandheath Lane most weeks, so New End is seldom a detour, and the same run picks up Edgiock, Cladswell and the villages out past Cookhill. Further out through Worcestershire is still worth ringing about — coverage reaches UK-wide, and it is the schedule rather than the distance that decides between one day and the next.

Things New End drivers ask about DPF cleaning

Can I simply take it for a long drive?
It might, provided you spot it early and limp mode has not begun. That requires motorway speed for a steady spell, rather than a quick trip to Co-op Food.
Does the visit take long?
Expect typically around 2 hours — severely blocked filters sometimes need a second pass, which lengthens it.
In New End, what does it run to?
The call-out charge pays for the visit, the diagnostic and the advice; treatment itself starts from £299. Pricing is done by phone, since what you own and where you sit both move the number.
Have I got to be around?
The car requires a place for two hours or so. You do not need to be in it. Travel along if you like, and the regeneration is done as a monitored drive.
How soon can someone come to New End?
You are looking at often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is now in the calendar. Ring 0303 330 1830 what is open across the B area.
The filter — does it come away from the vehicle?
On the mobile service, no: the filter is treated in place. That work — a filter off, a filter back on — is not something we do.
Suppose the light returns?
Included by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer heading back to New End.
