Mobile DPF Cleaning around Nastend and Gloucestershire
Mobile DPF cleaning comes to the motor. Your car will not be taken off and the filter will not budge. A fitter arrives at your address over in Nastend, clears the diesel particulate filter fitted to the motor and carries out a DPF regeneration.
Reckon on the visit lasting typically around 2 hours. The clean starts from £299, fixed by the phone before anyone travels.
The light is on already and the vehicle is short of power — that is how we usually come across people, and precisely what this page is about.
Your DPF light is on — what next?
The DPF is not automatically what is to blame, and that goes first. Plenty of faults put the very same light on the very same panel, which is why a visit starts with a check rather than with treatment.
How the car is driven in the meantime matters too.
- A long even run may yet be enough, provided the light is amber and the car runs normally. Costs nothing, so have a go at that before ringing.
- A drive will not reach it now — limp mode means that window has already closed.
- Get it checked rather than driving it — diesel in the car, or smoke on hard acceleration, has gone well past the long-run stage.
What the car has been warning you
Symptoms have normally been mounting for weeks before the light even shows. Belated news, in other words:
- climbing uphill, the power tails off
- the revs no longer pull the way they once did
- fuel use that is worse than it used to be
- the stop/start silently giving up
- a diesel smell in the cabin, or smoke under hard acceleration
That is not evidence on its own. The light beside them indicates a full filter.
Why diesel particulate filters choke round Nastend
Being a rural hamlet, Nastend produces just the motoring a DPF copes with the poorest. Not one bit of it lasts long enough or is hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration: the school run to Great Oldbury Primary Academy, Arthur Keene Close barely moving at the morning rush, ten minutes to The Co-operative Food, the dash to Stonehouse. The soot banks up rather than burning off.
The M5 sits under a mile from Nastend, Gloucester under 10 miles away, and unless something carries you out that way routinely, full weeks slip past without the long unbroken run that empties a unit. Geography does not help.
Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration stops working
It is self-defence: that is all limp mode means. With output held down and the revs kept low, the regeneration the filter wants will not happen at all. That matters, because setting off one is precisely what a long run does.
Good advice, that motorway run — until the point it is not. In limp mode you are beyond that line: treatment is what will do it, not more driving.
The vehicle stays put for call-out DPF cleaning round Nastend
Nothing is taken from the motor. That catches out people. The DPF sits fixed where it is and the work is done around it, on a drive, in a works car park, any place it can sit for a couple of hours.
Nothing is cleaned until other faults are ruled out. That requires a scan first: live data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by actual weight, and a review of the sensors, glow plugs and connected parts.
Then the cleaning. A cleaning fluid is fed in through the entry point on that vehicle and opens out inside the filter, lifting the soot and ash a regeneration by itself will never shift. A second pass is sometimes called for on heavily clogged filters.
What the clean has freed is then burned off by a regeneration. Come with the car and it turns into a monitored drive out of Nastend. Park it and the regeneration is done statically, with running data verified once it is done.
Finally the check runs again — the change proven, the light put out, anything still open logged. Both reports reach you by email, so the numbers are kept.
Where treatment is not the answer
A filter clogged with soot and ash is the one thing a clean answers. It will not reach:
- sensors, pressure, reporting a block that is not real
- a failed EGR valve
- AdBlue system faults
- glow plugs or injectors blocking the regeneration completing in the first place
- the turbo putting oil into the filter
Finding that out is the first scan's purpose. If one of those is the fault, you find out about it up front rather than once the money has left already.
Hollowing the filter out is not a fix: without a working DPF a vehicle cannot pass its MOT, and driving it is illegal. DPF renewal is the phrase people type in, though nothing is replaced — your existing filter is cleared in place and put back into use. Two more worth noting.
What DPF cleaning costs across Nastend
The clean opens from £299. A call-out charge is added to every visit, and covers the call-out itself, the booking, the diagnostic and the advice that comes with it.
Publishing a flat rate would not be truthful. We settle it by phone, once the car and its expected needs are established. What you own and where you are both change it: Nastend itself, over at Newtown, or otherwise out across the GL postcode area.
Where the check says treatment will not do it, you are not billed for cleaning. You even so pay that charge: someone travelled, ran the check and offered you the advice.
Aftercare is included by a 30-day warranty: should the light come back within it, an engineer returns to Nastend.
Phoned the number, booked up. They sent someone out the next day. Brilliant service. Nick the mechanic was a very nice guy, he turned up and got straight on with it. Ace bloke. Would highly recommend this company. Thanks very much. Dean Marfell.
Great work from Daz cleaning the DPF and all round great advice and information. And all done at home with their door to door service.
Thanks Kieran for a prompt and efficient service, also saved me £300 on what the garage were going to charge me.
Vehicles we clean, and where we travel near Nastend
Whatever it is — car, van, light commercial, HGV, plant, construction machinery, farm vehicle — the one on-site service applies, and the filter never leaves it.
Most weeks there is usually someone on Arthur Keene Close, so Nastend rarely means a detour, and Newtown, Chipmans Platt and the villages past Nupend follow. Coverage reaches UK-wide, so even further out across Gloucestershire is even so worth a call, and what picks between today and tomorrow is the calendar rather than the distance.

Things Nastend drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Will a long drive sort it?
- Sometimes, if you spot it in time and the motor has not fallen into limp mode. A steady run at motorway speed is what it needs — not five minutes or so to The Co-operative Food and back.
- About how long does it run?
- Reckon on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean lengthening that where the filter is badly blocked.
- Price across Nastend — what is it?
- A clean begins from £299, and the call-out charge on top covers the visit, the scan and the advice. The vehicle and your address both change the figure, so we settle it on the phone.
- Is it needed for me to be there?
- No. The motor wants space to wait for a couple of hours; you need not stand with it. If you would prefer to come along, the regeneration can be run as a monitored drive instead.
- Can someone come to Nastend soon?
- Depending on the schedule, often same-day or next-day is normal. Phone 0303 330 1830 and you will learn what is open across the GL area.
- Will the filter be taken off?
- On the call-out service, no: the filter is treated in place. And neither does getting a filter off nor fitting one back on is work we do.
- The light comes back — then what?
- Covered by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer travelling back to Nastend.
