- Diesel smell in the cabin, or black smoke under the throttle — stop booking long drives and get it seen to.
Signs the motor has been sending you
The light is last news. By the time it shows, the symptoms have normally been growing for some time:
- tailing off on power, especially uphill
- the revs no longer climb the way they always did
- fuel economy getting worse
- without a word, the stop/start packs in
- smoke under the throttle, or a diesel smell in there
That is not proof alone. The light beside them suggests a loaded filter.
