- climbing uphill, the power tails off

- the stop/start without a word packing in
- diesel in the cabin, or smoke on the way up through the box
That is not proof by itself. The light alongside them points at a loaded filter.
Why diesel particulate filters choke around Mosedale

Two things more worth noting. Getting the filter gutted is not a fix — a vehicle without a functioning DPF fails its MOT and driving it is illegal. And cleaning is sometimes looked up as DPF renewal: nothing is swapped, your original filter is cleared in place and returned into use.
