Mobile DPF Cleaning covering Moorland, Somerset
Cleaning the DPF is done at the car, not at a garage. The technician arrives at your place over in Moorland and sets up. The diesel particulate filter is cleaned on the vehicle, a DPF regeneration follows, and you keep the filter you arrived with.
Nobody travels until the figure is fixed on the phone. The visit lasts typically around 2 hours and the clean opens from £299.
The light is already on and the car is short of power — that is how we normally meet people, and what this page covers.
The DPF light is on. What now?
The unit is not necessarily what is to blame, and that comes first. That light can follow a number of faults, not just one, so the visit begins with a diagnostic and not with cleaning.
Second thing: how you drive it between now and then counts.
- Vehicle still driving normally on an amber light — have a go at a long even run first. It costs nothing at all and regularly shifts the filter without assistance.
- That window has closed once the car has slipped into limp mode. A drive will not do it now.
- Stop arranging long drives and get it checked if the interior stinks of diesel or there is black smoke when you accelerate.
The car has been showing you already
Symptoms have normally been mounting for some time before the light ever appears. Late news, in other words:
- less power, especially climbing uphill
- the revs no longer pull the way they always did
- the fuel use is poorer
- stop/start without a word bowing out
- smoke under the throttle, or a diesel smell in the car
That is not evidence on its own. The light with them suggests a full filter.
What chokes diesel particulate filters around Moorland
Being a village, Moorland generates just the motoring a DPF copes with worst. Run through an ordinary week: Westonzoyland Community Primary School and home, Church Road at a crawl before the hour, a five-minute run to Lidl, a dash to Bridgwater. Not much there goes on long enough or runs hot enough to complete a regeneration. Soot that should clear collects instead.
Geography does not oblige either. The M5 is under 3 miles from Moorland and Wells is under 25 miles away, so unless something takes you out that way regularly, entire weeks go by without the sustained run that could empty the filter alone.
The stage a DPF regeneration can no longer run
The motor is defending itself, which is what limp mode means. A sustained drive works by triggering a regeneration, and that is exactly what limp mode rules out: power limited, revs pinned, no regeneration possible.
The usual advice — take it up the motorway — is good, up until it is not. Beyond that point — limp mode — driving will not be enough, and the filter wants treatment.
The car stays put for on-site DPF cleaning in Moorland
Nothing comes off the car. That throws people. The DPF remains bolted where it is and the work goes on around it, on a drive, in a works car park, any place it can stand for a couple of hours.
First a diagnostic. Live ECU data, the soot load as a percentage and as a mass, the sensors, the glow plugs, the related parts — all of it logged before a thing is touched.
Then the treatment. A solution is fed in through the access point on that vehicle and opens out inside the filter, lifting the soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never shift. A second pass is sometimes called for on heavily clogged filters.
Then a regeneration, to clear what the clean has freed. That is a monitored drive out of Moorland if you are along, or a static regeneration where the motor stands, with the real-time data read afterwards.
A second diagnostic confirms the change, puts out the warning light and lists anything still showing. Both sets of figures are emailed, so you keep the before and after figures recorded.
What a DPF clean will not cure
Only one fault is cured by treatment: the filter blocked with ash and soot. It does no good for:
- sensors, pressure, reporting a blockage that is not real
- an EGR valve held open
- an AdBlue system failure
- a regeneration that hardly ever runs, because of glow plugs or injectors
- turbo trouble, with oil reaching the filter
That is what the first check is for. Where one of those proves the fault, you find out about it up front rather than once the money has changed hands for good.
DPF renewal is what people look up, but no part is exchanged: the filter you already own is cleaned where it sits and put back to work. Nor is having it gutted a solution, since the MOT then fails and driving becomes unlawful. Two more things worth bearing in mind.
What DPF cleaning costs across Moorland
A call-out charge applies whatever happens, and pays for the visit, the booking fee, the check and the advice passed on. The clean itself begins from £299.
Publishing a flat rate would not be honest. We settle it by phone, once the vehicle and its expected needs are known. What you own and where you are both change it: Moorland itself, out at West Yeo, or further out within the TA postcode area.
Where the scan says cleaning will not help, you are not charged for cleaning. What nonetheless holds is the call-out charge, since the visit was made, the scan was done and the advice was passed on.
A 30-day warranty includes aftercare on the job, and that includes an engineer coming back out to Moorland if the light comes back inside the window.
Incredibly prompt arrival, the gentleman didn't want a brew at all he just got on with the job in hand. I was impressed with the lack of mess left behind, Definitely recommend them.
The mechanic technician (Andras) who came for the DPF cleaning was very experienced and highly skilled in his work.
Wonderful Ashley came along. and diagnosed a different problem. made me feel very confident in his knowledge, He was extremely polite and just a credit to DPF Fixer.
What we clean, and how far we go around Moorland
Cars and estates, panel vans and light commercials, HGVs, construction and plant machinery, agricultural machinery — one mobile service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is done on the vehicle rather than moved anywhere.
Our engineers are along Church Road nearly every week, so Moorland is hardly ever a special trip, and the same run takes in West Yeo, Andersea and the spots out past Westonzoyland. Even further out across Somerset is even so worth phoning about — coverage runs UK-wide, and it is the schedule rather than the distance that picks between this day and the next.
The area around Moorland
Moorland is a small village in Somerset, situated on the riverside at a low elevation of around 8 metres. Moorland lies near several other rural settlements, including Little Moor, West Yeo, and Andersea, and is approximately 15.6 miles from the city of Wells. What Moorland drivers wonder about DPF cleaning
- Is a long drive enough by itself?
- Sometimes, if you catch it early enough and the car has not slipped into limp mode. It wants a long run at motorway speed, not ten minutes to Lidl and back.
- How long does the visit take?
- That is typically around 2 hours, though a heavily loaded filter can need cleaning twice, which adds time.
- The cost across Moorland — what is it?
- The call-out charge pays for the visit, the scan and the advice; treatment itself begins from £299. The vehicle and your address both move the price, so we quote on the phone.
- Is it essential for me to be around?
- No. The car needs a spot to wait for a couple of hours; you need not stand with it. If you would rather come along, the regeneration can be carried out as a monitored drive instead.
- When can someone come to Moorland?
- That depends on the diary, but it is often same-day or next-day. Call 0303 330 1830 and we will let you what is free across the TA area.
- The filter — does it come away from the car?
- Not on the on-site service — it is cleaned where it stands. We do not lift filters off or put them back on, whichever way.
- What if the light reappears?
- Taken in by the 30-day warranty: aftercare, and an engineer coming back to Moorland.
