Mobile DPF Cleaning covering Minions, Cornwall
The vehicle sits where it is — mobile DPF cleaning goes to it. No body shop, no filter going anywhere. A fitter drives out to your address over in Minions, clears the diesel particulate filter in place, performs a DPF regeneration, and you keep the filter you came with.
You'll have a price by phone before anyone departs, the clean opening from £299, and the visit taking typically around 2 hours.
Written for the position most owners are in: the light showing, the car short for power, and the job still to fix.
What to try when the DPF light comes on
The unit is not necessarily what is at fault, and that goes first. Plenty of faults put the same light on the same panel, which is why a visit begins with a check rather than with cleaning.
Second thing: how you handle it between now and then counts.
- Amber light, car yet driving fine — a long even run can yet sort it alone. Costs nothing, and worth attempting before you book anything.
- A drive will not reach it now — limp mode means that window has now closed.
- Stop arranging long drives and get it looked at if the car reeks of diesel or there is black smoke when you pull away.
Before the light, what the motor was warning you
By the time the light arrives, things have normally been slipping for some time. It is belated news:
- power tailing off, above all going uphill
- revs that will not rise the way they once did
- the fuel economy is worse
- a stop/start that has silently bowed out
- a diesel smell in the interior, or smoke under acceleration
None of that is evidence by itself. Next to the light, it is a fair assumption the filter is blocked.
What blocks diesel particulate filters round Minions
For a DPF, the worst motoring is the type you get around a village such as Minions. The school run to Darite Primary Academy, Grasmere Lane at a halt at half past eight, ten minutes to Aldi, the run to Liskeard — nothing of it goes on long enough or gets hot enough for the filter to see through a regeneration. Instead of burning away, the soot builds up.
The map does not oblige either. The M5 is under 50 miles from Minions and Plymouth is under 25 miles away, so unless something takes you out that way routinely, whole weeks pass without the sustained run that might scour the filter on its own.
DPF regeneration, and the stage limp mode kills it
What limp mode amounts to is the vehicle looking after itself. A long drive works by starting a regeneration, and that is exactly what limp mode prevents: power limited, revs pinned, no regeneration possible.
Taking it up the motorway is the standard advice, and it holds up to a point. Once the motor is in limp mode you are beyond that point, and the filter needs treatment rather than more driving.
The motor stays put for mobile DPF cleaning across Minions
The filter does not leave it. That is the bit most drivers do not see coming: the job happens with the DPF yet fitted to the car, on your drive, in a work car park, anywhere the motor can sit for a few hours.
Nothing is touched until other faults are cleared. That means a scan first: live data off the ECU, soot load by percentage and by weight, and a check of the sensors, glow plugs and associated parts.
Then the cleaning. A solution is fed in through the access point on that motor and expands inside the filter, loosening the soot and ash a regeneration alone will never shift. Where the filter is heavily clogged, allow for a second pass.
Next, a regeneration clears everything the clean loosened. Either it goes as a monitored drive out of Minions, with you along, or it is done where the vehicle sits and the live data is verified after.
Both sets of figures go over by email, so the figures from either end are kept. The second scan is what confirms the change, clears the light and lists whatever is still showing.
Where treatment is not the fix
Cleaning fixes one thing: a filter clogged with soot and ash. It does little for:
- a pressure or temperature sensor flagging a blockage that is not there
- EGR valves that jam open
- the AdBlue system playing up
- injectors or glow plugs that block a regeneration running whatsoever
- a turbo putting oil through the filter
The first scan is there for precisely that. When it turns out to be one of those, you are let know before any work starts rather than after you have settled up for it.
Hollowing the filter out is not a solution: without a working DPF a vehicle will fail its MOT, and driving it is against the law. DPF renewal is the phrase people search for, though nothing is replaced — your own filter is cleaned in place and sent back into use. Two more worth bearing in mind.
What DPF cleaning runs to across Minions
Each visit takes a call-out charge — getting to you, setting up the booking, running the check and giving the advice. The clean itself starts from £299.
The figure is settled on the phone, once we have the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. No flat rate could be honest. The place you are counts as much as what you drive: Minions itself, Gonamena close by, or farther out across the PL postcode area.
If the check counts cleaning out, there is nothing to pay for it. What even so applies is the call-out charge, since the visit was made, the check was done and the advice was given.
If the light returns inside that window, an engineer comes back out to Minions — the job includes a 30-day warranty covering aftercare.
I waited a month just to see, but now I'm so happy with their work, Wonderful company, easy booking, they really do their work impeccably and are reasonably flexible. They did work on my civic, ash values went from 66grams to 0.
Nic came out and fixed my dpf and emissions light, did a fantastic job my car is now running full speed again after going into limp mode.
Very professional. Was at my house within 2 hours of making the booking. Explained everything very pleasant manner. would highly recommend.
Vehicles we clean, and where we travel round Minions
Whatever it is — estate, panel van, light commercial, lorry, plant, construction machinery, agricultural vehicle — the same mobile service holds, and the filter never leaves it.
Minions is hardly ever a special trip: engineers are out on Grasmere Lane week in week out, and the same run takes in Gonamena, Dunslea and the spots out past Darite. It is the calendar, not the distance, that decides whether it is this day or the next, and coverage runs UK-wide — so call anyway from farther out through Cornwall.

Questions Minions drivers ask about DPF cleaning
- Does a long run shift it?
- If you catch it early, and the motor is not in limp mode, sometimes. Ten minutes to Aldi and back will not be enough; motorway speed, kept for some time, will.
- The visit lasts how long?
- Count on typically around 2 hours, with a second clean adding to that where the filter is severely loaded.
- Around Minions, what does it come to?
- Treatment begins from £299, and the call-out charge on top takes in the visit, the check and the advice. Both the vehicle and where you are change it, which is why quoting happens by phone.
- Must I be around in person?
- No. The car needs space to wait for a couple of hours; you do not need to stand with it. Come along if you would rather, and the regeneration becomes a monitored drive.
- Coming to Minions — how soon?
- Depending on the schedule, often same-day or next-day is typical. Ring 0303 330 1830 what is free across the PL area.
- Does the filter come away from the car?
- Not on the call-out service — it is cleaned where it stands. Taking a filter off or fitting one back on count as anything work we do whichever way.
- Suppose the light returns?
- An engineer comes back out to Minions — the 30-day warranty includes aftercare.
