The motor has been warning you already
Symptoms have normally been mounting for weeks before the light even arrives. Last news, in other words:
- tailing off on power, particularly uphill
- an engine whose revs will not rise as before
- economy that is worse than it was
- without a word, the stop/start packs in
- diesel in the car, or smoke on the way up through the gears
Alone, none of that is evidence. Next to the light, it is a fair bet the filter is full.
Why diesel particulate filters block near Mayfair
For a DPF, the worst motoring is the type you find across a residential suburb such as Mayfair.
