Symptoms have generally been building for some time before the light ever appears. Belated news, in other words:

- a stop/start that has silently packed in
- the interior smelling of diesel, or smoke when you pull away
None of that is evidence on its own. It is a fair bet the filter is blocked once the light is on as well.
Why diesel particulate filters choke near Matchams
