Mobile DPF Cleaning in Marsh End and Worcestershire

On-site DPF cleaning comes to the car. The fitter pulls up at your address across Marsh End and gets to work. The diesel particulate filter is cleared still on the vehicle, a DPF regeneration comes next, and you keep the filter you started with.

Allow for the visit lasting typically around 2 hours. The clean opens from £299, agreed by the phone before anyone leaves.

The light is already on and the vehicle is down on power — that is how we normally come across people, and what this page deals with.

What to check when the DPF light shows

It could not be the unit at all. That is the first thing. Plenty of faults put the same light on the same dash, which is why a visit starts with a diagnostic rather than with a clean.

Second thing: how you drive it between now and then matters.

  • Worth a shot before you book anything: amber light, car driving as normal, just one constant run, no outlay.
  • Motor already fallen into limp mode — that window has gone. A drive will not reach it now.
  • Stop booking long drives and get it looked at if the interior reeks of diesel or there is black smoke when you press on.

What the motor has been warning you

By the time the light arrives, things have normally been slipping for weeks. It is late news:

  • less power, especially going uphill
  • you notice the revs fall short of where they always went
  • worse fuel use
  • the stop/start silently packing in
  • the car smelling of diesel, or smoke when you accelerate

On its own, none of that is conclusive. With the light alongside them, the filter is a fair bet.

The reason diesel particulate filters block near Marsh End

Being a small village, Marsh End produces precisely the driving a DPF copes with the poorest. Think about a typical week: Castlemorton Church of England Primary School and back, Longdon Marshes Road at a standstill before the hour, a five-minute run to Co-op Food, a hop to Colwall. Not much there lasts long enough or gets hot enough to complete a regeneration. The soot that should clear banks up instead.

Except when you have a regular cause to drive out to the M50, under 3 miles from Marsh End, or out to Gloucester under 15 miles away, entire weeks slip past without a long steady stint. Geography is against you.

Limp mode, and when DPF regeneration gives out

Limp mode is the vehicle looking after itself. The entire problem is that a long drive works by starting a regeneration, and under limp mode the revs will not rise and power is held down.

So the usual advice to run it up the motorway is sound advice, up until the day it is not. The filter needs treatment rather than road work once the vehicle has gone into limp mode.

Call-out DPF cleaning where the motor stands round Marsh End

The filter does not budge. That is the bit most people do not see coming: the job happens with the DPF still fitted to the car, on your drive, in a work car park, any place the motor can sit for a couple of hours.

Nothing is cleaned until other faults are eliminated. That requires a scan first: real-time data off the ECU, soot load by percent and by actual weight, and a review of the sensor feeds, glow plugs and related parts.

A cleaning solution next is injected through the entry point on that car, expanding inside the filter to lift soot and ash a regeneration on its own will never budge. Badly clogged filters sometimes need a second pass.

What the clean has freed is then burned off by a regeneration. Either it is done as a monitored drive out of Marsh End, with you there, or it runs where the vehicle sits and the live data is verified after.

Both sets of figures go over by email, so the figures from either end are recorded. The second scan is what confirms the change, resets the light and lists whatever is still showing.

What a DPF clean will not cure

A clean fixes one thing: a filter choked with soot and ash. It does no good for:

  • sensors, pressure or temperature, reporting a restriction that is not real
  • a failed EGR valve
  • a problem in the AdBlue system
  • injectors or glow plugs that prevent a regeneration starting whatsoever
  • the turbo pushing oil into the filter

Which is why the diagnostic comes first. If it proves to be one of those, you are told before any work starts rather than after you have settled up anything.

Gutting the filter out is not a remedy: without a functioning DPF a vehicle will fail its MOT, and driving it is illegal. DPF renewal is the term people search for, though nothing is replaced — your existing filter is cleaned in place and put back into use. Two more worth bearing in mind.

The price of DPF cleaning around Marsh End

The clean starts from £299. A call-out charge applies to every visit, and covers the call-out itself, the booking, the scan and the advice that goes with it.

No single flat rate would be honest, so the price is settled by the phone once we have the vehicle and what the filter is going to need. The vehicle moves it, and so does the location — Marsh End, Birtsmorton, or anywhere farther out in the WR postcode area.

Cleaning that will not help is not treatment you pay for, and the check is what says so. Because the visit, the diagnostic and the advice have happened, the call-out charge nonetheless stands.

If the light reappears inside that window, an engineer travels back out to Marsh End — the work comes with a 30-day warranty taking in aftercare.

Where we travel around Marsh End, and what we clean

Cars and estates, vans and light commercials, HGVs, construction and plant machinery, farm vehicles — the one on-site service across all of them, and on all of them the filter is cleaned in place rather than moved anywhere.

Engineers are along Longdon Marshes Road week in week out, so Marsh End is rarely a detour, and the same run covers Birtsmorton, Longdon and the spots out past Sledge Green. It is the diary, not the distance, that settles whether it is this day or the next, and coverage reaches UK-wide — so ring still from farther out around Worcestershire.

What Marsh End drivers wonder about DPF cleaning

Can I just take it for a long drive?
It can, provided you spot it early and limp mode has not set in. A long run at motorway speed is what it needs — not fifteen minutes or so to Co-op Food and back.
Broadly how long does it last?
That is typically around 2 hours, though a badly loaded filter can require cleaning twice, which runs on.
Cost in Marsh End — what is it?
Opening from £299, with a charge for coming out that pays for the diagnostic and advice on what to do next. The vehicle and your address both shift the number, so we quote on the phone.
Do I have to be around?
The motor needs a place for two hours or so. You do not need to be in it. The regeneration can be done as a watched drive if you would rather be there.
Getting to Marsh End — how soon?
You are offered often same-day or next-day, though it depends what is currently in the diary. One phone call to 0303 330 1830 and you will know what the WR area has open.
Does the filter come off the car?
On the mobile service, no: the filter is treated in place. That work — a filter off, a filter back on — is not work we do.
What if the light comes back?
Aftercare falls inside the 30-day warranty, and that includes an engineer returning to Marsh End.
